I think the people who hated Death Proof missed the point of the film. Tarantino was trying to create an accurate portrayal of grindhouse/drive-in cinema rather than a distillation of it (which is what Planet Terror was). And if you've ever watched an old grindhouse movie, you would realize that there is a lot of dialogue and maybe 15-20 minutes of action (a good example of this is Policewomen, where there's about 20 minutes of action in a 110 minute film and the action doesn't start until the third act).

It's talky for a reason and Tarantino has even said that he makes the films he wants to make, not what the audience demands.

Just for the record, the good people at Scream Factory have not denied getting Psycho 4 in the future. They have just said that there is a limited number of titles that they can get in a deal, and therefore couldn't get Psycho 4 THIS TIME.

Its actually the kind of film that fits really well the Scorpion or Code Red business model...but since it is with MGM, Scream Factory is my only hope...since MGM has no plans for it. I know it would also be a good selling Scream title. The Alien reminds me of an Outer Limits creature. I just find it compelling, creepy and somewhat atmospheric in a low budget kind of way.
Like I said before, if I were a big lottery winner, I would knock on MGMs door, make a deal with them and buy the movie myself and with the help of any professional label (Scream, Synapse) do a Blu Ray DVD combo and give them all the credit. I would just finance it , and just tell all my friends and peers *I did this for you (and me) * Even if I didn't make a profit , it wouldn't matter so much because Id be a lottery millionaire and the release was for the many fans of the movie. Yeah I do dream big

This how a studio deal works: (i.e MGM, FOX, Universal, etc.)

They usually pay around $250,000 and are given a list of titles to chose from, provided by the studio. If there's something they want not listed, they must request it.
The studio can deny or accept the addition of it to the list.

They then chose a set amount of titles to be covered under the money they paid, and they select from the list. They sign a deal and when everythings done they can release it.

With smaller companies, like Scorpion, for example, who hasn't made a big studio deal, or Vinegar Syndrome, they would stick to smaller distributors.
Halloween II was part of a large lengthy deal, whereas The Monster club costed about $10-20,000 and they only got one title.

The big studio deals are very expensive, and NEVER run on a title by title basis.

So, I get that they were trying to squeeze in what they wanted the most, top priority titles, we'll probably see more when they make more deals.

Have 3 releases so far - H2, H3 and They Live! - all came from Amazon without slipcases.

I'm not a slipcase nut but their releases with reversible artwork are great with slipcases.

You can try to return to amazon and see if the replacements come with slips. I got They Live and H3 from amazon. They Live originally came with a slip but H3 didn't. I returned H3 for a replacement and the replacement came with slip.

Worth a shot if you want the slips

I ordered H2 from bestbuy and that came with a slip also. It was in the worst condition though.
