Kino-Lorber is releasing it in October, visit that thread because I'm not sure on the exact date. Might be 12, or maybe the 22nd.

I'm jet lagged and its like 7am here, but to me it feels about 2am.
So I'm not checking or linking. Lol
Thanks. I had heard that it was going to be coming from Kino in October, but had not seen an official announcement about it.

An acquisition of even part of the Vestron library by Shout would be the second greatest thing to happen to those of us who love these movies - that's a very robust (untapped) catalog right there, second only to MGM's. Double feature sets would be the ideal release strategy since many of these films a) probably wouldn't sell very many by themselves and b) they're likely not in the best condition overall so Shout may decide to release them in multi-packs, which is ok. I still feel, though, that there's much more to tap into as far as MGM titles go, so kinda hoping Shout continues to keep them in mind and that more deals are made.

Judging by Jim's comments regarding Chopping Mall, I feel very good about a possible deal with Lionsgate for some Vestron titles. Cliff said 3 "popular" 80's titles are coming soon - this fits the bill perfectly. I also feel Fright Night is a step closer to reality.

Actually, you inadvertently came up with a great idea--how about a New Year-themed double feature with New Year's Evil and Bloody New Year?

This isn't a deal with lionsgate or vestron's library.

Its just 2 films, assuming these are the ones.
A deal with a bigger company would be larger and all at once, not two at a time.

And the third film is from a different distributor that the other two.

I agree with this part, and Cliff did only mention 3 titles, but he could've signed a deal for several titles and not mention anything about it except for the 2 bigger ones to be released fairly soon, and the last one probably an MGM or Universal leftover. My predictions for the 3:

Sleepaway Camp (first one only)
Chopping Mall
Fright Night Part 2

Scream Factory : Sorry, but both films are not with Scream Factory and we are not in discussions with obtaining these rights.
So neither Chopping Mall or Lost Empire are two of the three films
Speculation closed down

Jeff runs the FaceBook page, but I think these were specifically just 2 films from one deal, one film from another deal.

I'd guess that the single film from a single distributor would be something from left field. That we won't guess easilly.

I'm thinking maybe along the lines of Cheerleader Camp or Link. (These are just WILD guesses) lol.

Where was this stated?

At least
A) Its coming from someone
B) It still might be coming from them, if they can get it.
(Assuming I read that right)

Neither film would be of interest to me but they are coming out nevertheless, just not from Scream Factory. So fans of those films still have something to be excited about !

@ Redrunner97 - It was stated on their FB page and they are not in negotiations for it...

I'm gonna say odds are that he'll be releasing them through Lionsgate.

If this is the case then I'd say this isn't anything to get excited over. That Lionsgate DVD for Chopping Mall is one of their worst abominations. A reissue could mean they just put together new extras, not that they remestered the film in any way. I wouldn't put it past the studio to recycle that transfer, as bad as it is. My only guess is maybe Code Red picked it up, which would be another lose-lose situation since it would be DVD only.

If he's remastering it and someone's Theatrically re-releasing it this Fall, then Lionsgate, IF they're the company, would certainly use the new HD transfer, especially considering they wouldn't be able to release it on blu-ray with the current SD transfer.

And there were a couple bonus features they could port over, and maybe make a few updated ones??

I just don't see Lionsgate putting the effort for these films, I don't know I could be wrong. It's probably Synapse then, those dudes seem to be making some things happen as of late.

Here's the Thread for Chopping Mall and The Lost Empire, so we don't clog up this one with off topic convo.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?p=8010752

But I would like to say that Don May Jr seemed rather surprised on Facebook when he replied to the news, so it doesn't seem to be them either.

Lionsgate does release catalog titles on blu-ray (just few and far between), so its not that shocking.

But who else? (Lol, there are many).

That's the general concensus.

I think its good art, but doesn't fit the movie well, idk why.

Yeah, I just checked the Darkman thread. I think the original art would look fine on the slipcover.
