The #1 Toho Film I want is Rodan: The Pterodactyl That Terrorized Tokyo and any of the Spinoffs.

Yes! I've been thinking about Rodan lately. I think my only copy is on a CED for the RCA Selectavision player!

I think Cliff is the one who said it in here, might be wrong, maybe it was Walter Olsen or some other insider.

Don't know the "aquisitions guy"'s name though. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned on this forum or perhaps in a link to some article. I know I read it on blu-ray.com though.
Pretty sure you're talking about Mark Ward. I went to high school with him and I still run into him occasionally. It has been a few years since the last time, though. He hooked me up with a huge box of Anchor Bay dvd's back in the day that included both Bava sets, the Jodorowsky set, the Evil Dead Ultimate Edition, the Book of the Dead Evil Dead II, Nightmare City, aaaaaaaaand some others that I can't think of right now.

I'm as excited about Scream Factory's presence as anyone else, but it's unreasonable to assume "things changed" regarding Night of the Demons. The below comments from Cliff were all made within the past 3 months (7/9/13 most recently). Cliff was insisting they did not have the rights to Night of the Demons, but within the time of a few weeks they've not only announced it but revealed custom cover art. To assume Scream Factory went from no involvement at all to impending release in such short time seems silly to me. I'm really glad to see the Scream Factory release of Night of the Demons, and am a fan of the line but question their transparency related to informal discussion of upcoming titles before announcement. It is reasonable they would not disclose unannounced titles informally so we may not be able to take insider comments as definitive.

There were others reasons as to why we passed [on Night of the Demons].

Although potentially dubious, I did enjoy the banter from cmac... wherever he went.

All very interesting quotes. I think its because he knows people want NOTD and maybe he had a change of mind or heart and decided to pursue it along with Witchboard...maybe sales are booming so they had extra money

Cliff has said several times that he very rarely lies.

He usually tells the truth and if he doesn't want to tell you, he just doesn't.

He stated that Halloween 3 was the only one he purpously lied about because it was one of the premiere titles and he didn't want to spoil it.

I appreciate Cliff's interaction here and do not want to suggest it's a negative. I do wish he would comment here more but think fans should understand there have been times where his report has not been accurate with release schedule, for whatever reason. Apparently Halloween III is another example. It's not reasonable to expect Cliff is going to soft announce titles because fans are discussing it; so there may be impending Scream Factory titles that he has said "no" to (like Night of the Demons or Halloween III) even if those are the minority exceptions. Who knows?

Keep in mind these comments were made before Comic-Con and I'm near positive that these two titles were among the "10 or 11 titles" that were intended to be announced at that event. For whatever reason, the deal wasn't ready.

I am of the belief that Cliff was probably very much involved in discussions on Night of the Demons and Witchboard at the point in time those comments were made, moreso than his comments may have led us to believe at the time. Comments made to the effect of "We passed," or "We can't put out everything," were probably made in that manner because an agreement truly wasn't in place at the time and Scream Factory may very well have "passed" on these titles, but I'm guessing negotiations were very much ongoing at that time contrary to what those comments may have led us to believe.

I agree, the comments made by Scream Factory representatives did not accurately represent release plans for whatever reason.

The whole Night of the Demons announcement is interesting if you like to pick apart "insider information." On 6/17/13 the film director Kevin Tenney teaser on Facebook that "the producers are fielding offers from various Blu-Ray distributors right now." Chrismac87, a supposed insider, posted in the NOTD thread on 6/17/13 that it was not going to Scream Factory.

I guess No = Yes?

You do realize Cliff is not just any old representative.
He is the person who physically had to 'aquire' the film.

If anyone knew they had it, it would be him.

I think it, quite obviously, wasn't with Scream Factory at first, and they eventually went back and got it a short while later. Shout turned down the films, or the producers turned down their offers. Then they found common ground with Scream Factory later on, while the producers were taking in other offers from different studios.

The fans may have even influenced Scream Factory to go ahead with the 'asking price'.

I believe negotiations were going on, but he (Cliff) didn't want to make empty promises, when in fact they did not have them, at that time.

So I got my replacement Halloween II and there's no slipcover. Is there supposed to be one?

At least it's the right movie this time.

Very few people have gotten a slipcover for Halloween 2 or 3 from Amazon over the past few months, it's why I've repeatedly stated across multiple pages to buy those movies from Bestbuy.com to increase your chances. I bought my copy from them online last month and it came with a slip, however lots of people have stated that they did NOT get a slip from Amazon over the past few months.

The problem with ordering from best buy though is that they ship their small orders in plastic bags with no protection whatsoever so the chances of the slip being damaged are really high. I recently order 2 digibooks from them and had to return them because they were so damaged to the point the disc hub wouldn't hold the disc and the whole cover looked like it had been ran over by a truck.

That has more to do with your mailmen then best buy. I've never had a package damaged in the 10 years I've been buying stuff on ebay, amazon, or even best buy. The bubble packs provide more then enough protection if your mailmen treat the packages as they're supposed to.
