DiabolikDVD is having a Scream Factory sale now through October 20...

Quote:
Starting today select Scream Factory DVD and Blu-Ray titles are on sale through 10/20/13. The price on the site is the discounted price and no further discounts or coupons will be allowed. Unfortunately we cannot honor these prices on any past orders. We will be reordering throughout the sale, so even if the item is not in stock, you can still order the item for the sale price through the duration of the sale. We are not able to hold these sale items with future preorders so any Scream Factory title ordered will be shipped as soon as it is in stock. Shout! Factory

Fantastic. Are they on amazon like that too, or just the regular site?

We could get:
-Highlander SE
-Roadgames BD
-The Wicker Man BD
-Near Dark SE
-Trick or Treat BD
-Maximum Overdrive BD

I see Shout Factory going for a more "Criterion"-esque, arthouse type of slate in the future. They're not abandoning B movies entirely (those will go mostly to their Scream imprint) but I do see them releasing less and less of these types of films. Now, if Cliff would like to come back on here and debunk this for us he's more than welcome

That's why, aside from Highlander, I listed possible Scream titles... Also, Wicker Man would so fit that criteria.

This is pretty much how it is every time I order from them. But... they are the cheapest so I gotta deal with it I guess.
Walmart has been carrying a small selection of Scream Factory DVDs in stores. No Blu-rays yet, sadly. Retailers demand onerous terms these days to carry an item, which is why you see many of the smaller Blu-ray distributors completely skipping retail B&M sales.

Psycho II. POD is a bit of a mixed bag and IMO a bit overrated.

Prince of Darkness. No matter how good Psycho II is or isn't. At the end of the day, it's a unnecessary sequel.

Says you

At the time where films were doing all kinds of sequels to Friday the 13th, Halloween, not only does Psycho II fit right in but its a great film...

This "Price" is most certainly right!

First samples of THE VINCENT PRICE COLLECTION on Blu-ray just came in to the Factory today. Available on 10/22.

I still have to see the Psycho movies. I'll add them to my October line-up.

Oh, yes.

---

So, now that I'm the proud owner of Scream Factory's Halloween II and III, is there any reason I should keep my DVD versions? I'm always a bit worried about getting rid of DVD's after purchasing the Blu version...

What does everyone else do? Is there any reason that the DVD's - though they have a lower quality image - might have value because they're 'less tampered* with'?

*I'm referring to the 'clean up' process that companies use to make the film presentable on Blu-ray. (If that makes sense. For a layperson, lol. )

In 99% of the cases the Blu-ray will offer superior picture and sound.

Hopefully with October and Halloween coming up soon we start to see some Scream Factory titles go on sale. There's a bunch I'd get if they went below $20.
