I love Christmas Evil (aka You Better Watch Out) and I hate Silent Night, Deadly Night.

It's a shame that Christmas Evil isn't as well known, since IMO it's the superior film.

really? I guess to each their own but I despise Christmas Evil. Slow, boring and bloodless. But I freely admit to loving the Black X-Mas remake which most people hate so...

Too true.

And I hate hate HATE Black X-Mas. Even more than I hate Silent Night, Deadly Night.

5 is fun too. Like a Christmas version of Saw with kids. Trippy.

2 is also just off-the-wall strange (I wish Anchor Bay or whoever would also release that one along with the first, hence my earlier Garbage Day post). Its terrible but entertaining every time you put it in.

3 is the worst of the sequels (actually 2 is, but 3 isnt as fun), so slow and boring. I like it all of them though, including 3. Watch them almost every Christmas. Lately though Black Christmas and its remake have been my must-watch list for the holiday.

I'm actually going to see the original, Silent Night, Deadly Night in a week or two, part of the re-release by Fangoria. I rented it a long time ago and just died when I saw it. One of the most outstanding slashers of the 80s, and one of the better more apparent Halloween rip-offs.

Don't save Black Christmas for next year, its definitely better than any others out there, and is genuinely creepy. (although you've probably seen it, how could you not!!)

I also recommend Don't Open Till Christmas, with the drop-dead stunning Caroline Munro. It's like a reverse of SN,DN. The killer is killing all the street santas that ring bells for charity and stuff like that.

The unholy trinity of Christmas horror is definitely:
(in order)

1. Black Christmas.
2. Silent Night, Deadly Night.
3. Don't Open Till Christmas.

glad to see someone else enjoys the Black Christmas remake as well. Now that I think about it...while not horror in the least, I always without exception every year around Christmas watch the South Park episode: Woodland Critter Christmas. It is, without a doubt to me the funniest thing ever to come out of the South Park series. It's in such incredibly poor taste.

Wait you hate the Black Christmas re-make or the original? Because if you hate the original Black Christmas and SNDN but love Christmas Evil I might just be regretting my recent purchase of Christmas Evil hahaha it's all good, to teach their own.

I just went to fangoria's website and it turns out Silent Night, Deadly Night is playing at a theater about 25 minutes away from my house on Dec. 11th
Any confirmation yet if it is the 84 minute uncut or Rated-R version?

79 minute... I WAS going to see it (for the first time) at my local theater on Wednesday, but nobody would take me. I watched it uncut on Hulu instead. Great ending, until the stupid element of Ricky saying "Naughty..." Part 2's on tap for Friday night. 3-5 just got taken off Crackle. I have to wait now for those.

I can't wait to watch all the scenes I liked all over again... As well as Eric Freeman.

Silent Night Deadly Night 1 is the only decent one.

Everything else in the series starting with part 2 is horrible and they actually get worse.

I would buy the Bluray of Silent Night Deadly Night 1 if it gets released next year. However, I'll pass on every sequel that was ever made in this series along with Silent Night the remake.

I sold my Image Blu-ray of Assault on Precinct 13 today and put in an order for the Scream Factory edition. I procrastinated, because both discs apparently have identical transfers, but I ultimately decided that the new supplements in the Scream package will be worth having. Here's to my first Scream Factory Blu-ray.

Your first? Enjoy many more.
I watched it for the first time last night, and I loved the hell out of it.

I've probably double-dipped more with Assault on Precinct 13 than I have with any other movie, having purchased it on VHS, a couple of times on DVD, and so on. I've loved the movie since childhood.

I plan on doing the same. The transfer really is top-notch. The selling point for me are the additional extras and the cool slip. The only Scream Factory Collector's Edition BD I have not purchased is FROM BEYOND. The film did nothing for me.

I beg to differ. From Beyond hit me in all the right ways. I liked it more than Re-Animator.

Ah... The difference of opinions. It makes the world interesting.

I would hope the extras would be the selling point, as Scream used the exact same transfer as the Image disc.

To me, that is Darkman. Followed by Prison.
