All we have is a print in great condition. It was either use a print or walk away, but we are fans of the film, so we decided to go for it.

I suspect Hellhole and The Final Terror were licensed directly from Samuel Z. Arkoff's estate or whomever his successor in interest is.

Do we know any other worthy titles that are at the Samuel Z. Arkoff's estate?, I was under the impresion most of the Arkoff films were at MGM/Fox from the aquisition of the Orion catalog, they had the American Independent Pictures catalog.

Anyway, very happy with the announcement of Final Terror. I have an aweful bootleg DVD and have wanted a decent release for sometime, as its a good slasher. These are the types of movies Scream should be releasing. Stuff that's more obscure.

Only a handful of the Scream Factory films are fantastic, but they all are enjoyable. Same goes for modern horror, jeez.

There were plenty of really good shorts in ABC's of Death. The dog fight one, miscarriage, the one with the fat girl cutting her flesh off to make herself skinny, the one where death comes after the junkies, and more.

There were only a couple that fell flat. It's not like The Final Terror is a masterpiece, so I don't get this disconnect with the "new" horror genre. (I love Final Terror, but I also love House of the Devil... So...)

I agree there are some great shorts in ABC's of Death. M is for Miscarriage is definitley not one of them. I would go as far to say it is the worst of them all. I feel like Ti West really phoned it in and it was a HUGE waste of his talent.

The fact that the film elements are gone makes me even happier The Final Terror blu-ray is being released. The movie is being digitally preserved (crappy VHS rips don't count). Whether you like the movie or not, no movie deserves to be lost. I'm grateful they have a print to work with.

Just look at Synapse with Curtains. All the deleted footage / outtakes from the original cut of the film had been sitting in a vault in Toronto since the '80s until it was ordered to be destroyed in 2009. Now it's gone after sitting there a couple decades, and we missed it by only a few years.

Maybe some of the TV movies he produced with his son, Lou, at the beginning of the 2000's? Hellhole and The Final Terror were produced by Arkoff after he had sold American International Pictures to Filmways and after he had left Filmways.

I think most of Arkoff's productions would currently belong to either MGM (as part of the Orion/Filmways/AIP library) or Susan Nicholson Hofheinz (per Los Angeles Superior Court judgement). Up the Creek (1984) is with MGM via Orion and The Haunting (1999) belongs to Dreamworks. Q (1982) belongs to Taurus Entertainment Company and has already been released by Scream Factory.

^ Interesting. Since they're releasing Hellhole and Final Terror and have already released Q, hopefully they'll try for Up The Creek from MGM as a Shout Factory release. I just can't justify buying that crappy DVD-R, even though I adore the movie.

Ya! My copies of Witchboard and Night of the Demons came in the mail today. Can't wait to check them out. Scream Factory is going to make me broke this year with all the awesome releases.

I love new horror movies, if they are good and ABC's certainly wasn't. Infact last year was amazing for new horror. The Conjuring, Cockney's vs Zombies, V/H/S 2, Stitches, Bloody Homecoming, World War Z, Curse of Chucky, Evil Dead remake and the amazing Maniac remake.

I also love House of the Devil.

I never said Final Terror was masterpiece, but these 80's slashers are the movies I love the best.

Totally agree! KS, is one of the most glamorized non-talents to come out of Hollywood in a while. I try to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I can't help but coming back to this:

Whoever did that is so spot on!
God help us if she ever teams up with Ryan Gosling. Unless they played Terminators and didn't need range of emotion...or wooden, if you will.

Listen, I never said she was good or even emotional. I just said she emotes more than Emily Perkins.

I don't think I've seen anything with her in it. I'm on the fence about Ginger Snaps, but it sounds pretty interesting. So I might be agreeing with you afterwards, or holding serve.
I really do like the "werewolf genre" so I could see me getting this.

Who knows perhaps Scream will pick up the Twilight films...then I'd really be a tough spot!
