Last year established Scream Factory and paved the road for the variety of this year, which in turn will satisfy various groups of fans at different times. I'm pretty selective about the movies I like, so I don't buy to buy or take chances on stuff just because... I too have less interest in many of the tittles that have been announced so far, but I am very much looking forward to The Final Terror and Lake Placid, with a gnawing inclination towards Deadly Eyes. I suspect that by the second half of the year Scream Factory will bear another half a dozen tittles that I want.

I watched witchboard last night and I rather enjoyed it. I don't get all the dislike that people have for it. Yeah it's really character driven and there are times when it seems like not a lot is happening but I thought it was able to pull it off in the end. The PQ looked really good to me.

I love "Witchboard" and thought it was a rather well liked movie. Still waiting on my copy but "NOTD" has just arrived. Was wondering if Horrors Hallowed Grounds is maybe not going to be on many more SF titles as "NOTC", "NOTD" and "Witchboard" would have been perfect choices, hope not as i love those features. Think someone posted on here Sean Clark declined to do one for "NOTC".

Too much 80's horror I need to buy on blu first.
Unless they can pull some major scores out their butts their future releases for 2015 and beyond will no doubt make this years line up look like solid blu ray gold. There are only so many classics available and unless more studios open up their vaults to scream we are going to see a lot more modern movies or some more obscure stuff like terrorvision/video dead. I love that kind of stuff so I would be happy.

Yeah 2014 seems to be a little underwhelming but that's just when you compare it to 2013. Sleepaway camp, nightbreed DC and slumber party massacre are all big time horror movies.

Horrors hallowed ground is a concept that works really well for a blu ray extra. I never really liked it to much in the magazine though. It's only been on a handful of screams releases though. I would like to see some more.

A lot of people here have said how they don't like witchboard or that they think it's boring.

I don't know what's going on with scream lately. While cat people, witchboard and night of the demons were not delayed it seems like they had a lot of problems making sure everyone had enough copies. A lot of people complained about cat people being shipped out late (me included), seems witchboard and NOTD are both on back order in a lot of places.

Would love to see The Car and Silent Night, Deadly Night release by Scream. I think I read somewehere late last year that a new HD print was created for Silent Night, Deadly Night and was shown in selected theaters late last year. So the HD print is out there.

I for one really appreciate every thing that Scream puts out. Horror that is being made today is just cookie cutter crap or remakes of older better films. Maybe one out of 20 films made have a tiny bit of originality any more. I love seeing older movies that I watched back in the day coming back and looking fantastic. Do I jump for joy over every announcement they make? No, but at least they are releasing films that may not have seen the light of day otherwise. Thank you....continue with your day.

Some recent films I found very enjoyable:

And Soon the Darkness (remake)
I Spit On Your Grave (remake)
Hatchet
Frozen (horror flick released by Anchor Bay)
Wind Chill (Emily Blunt)
The Hills Have Eyes (remake)
Turistas
Wrong Turn 1 & 2 (the rest sucked IMO)
The Mist
The Horde
Dead End
Deathwatch (UK)
The Bunker (UK)

All of the above are examples of excellent horror films. Not everything made today is junk.

Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil was a great newer horror genre release IMO...original too which seems to be a difficult thing for movie makers to grasp these days. I don't buy, or even watch, many new horror films because I find there is always too much hype that never ends up being true...stuff like "oh, it was soooo scary" or "it was really original", these comments mean nothing to me anymore because rarely are they true. Paranormal Activity was supposed to be all scary, I laughed through the hole damn thing...my biggest, albeit expected letdown, was the Evil Dead remake, people should understand there is a difference between a horror film and a gorefest, which is all that movie was. Anyways thank god for Scream Factory, the majority of their releases have kept me happier then I have been in years in regards to horror movies, I would much rather have a great movie restored then remade.

I should have said "most" horror films and not all. I agree there are some good films being made. I loved The Cabin in the Woods. I thought it was original and fun movie to watch. Yes some remakes are good, but I would prefer more "new" films were made, not just re-doing what somebody else already did.

I think Anchor Bay is releasing Silent Night, Deadly Night this Christmas for its 30th anniversary. The only bad thing about the HD print screened in theaters this past Christmas was that supposedly it was the r-rated cut, and not the unrated cut.

Scream Factory should release My Best Friend is a Vampire. The Lionsgate DVD is garbage with a VHS looking 1.33:1 transfer.

THIS!!!!!

I understand that "you can't please everybody" but in all honesty Scream Factory (and the like) need to be given respect for what they ARE doing and will continue to do. People want to ***** and moan that "this movie's P/Q sucks", or "that movie's extras are not worth it", or "why are they releasing that?" etc, etc, etc, blah blah blah, but you know what, everything they have released is light years better than the versions of these films that have (or in some cases, have not) come before.

Thanks

Agreed. That's fun movie that I avoided because of the non enhanced DVD.

I'm also interested in more episodes of Horror's Hallowed Grounds. I really hope we get one on Sleepaway Camp.

I'm glad Scream is releasing films of all decades, even if I'm partial to the 70's-80's films they release. From the interview Jeff and Cliff gave about the upcoming title announcements, are there 5 left that haven't been announced? They said 2 deals that gave them 4 titles, and 1 deal that gave them six, correct? The titles that have been announced are below.

Lake Placid
Hellhole
The Final Terror
The Battery
The House at the End of the Alley

I really don't know how they are going to top my most requested title, The Final Terror, though. The rest of the year is just icing on the cake, for me.

I'd be surprised if The Battery and House at the End of the Alley were part of those deals. One must have been Hellhole and The Final Terror, there can be no question about that. Lake Placid is Fox, but I doubt that the six-title deal is with them, given that Phantom of the Paradise was already announced beforehand. Would they go back to Fox for two titles? Maybe, though I'd prefer to think that it might be with someone smaller.

I'd say the six titles have to be from either Universal or, hopefully, MGM. I was thinking today how much great stuff could be upgraded - Leviathan, The Believers, The First Power, Pumpkinhead, Scarecrows - to name but a few.

This, so many MGM titles that still need a BD
