I hope so. GRIZZLY is much more popular than DAY OF THE ANIMALS or DOGS.
Scorpion Releasing mentioned a July / August timeframe a couple of weeks ago on Facebook.

I purchased DOTA also. I didn't really care for it when I saw it at the movies. Scorpion did a fantastic job on it, finally restoring it to its original aspect ratio.

I will be picking up DOGS in a couple weeks. GRIZZLY is my personal fave and I hope it's still coming to BLU.

quote=Talyn;9056763]yeah....that made me scratch my head at that statement. I like Scream and all, but I hear statements like this and I wonder wtf is up over there..../QUOTE]

I realize that this has been clarified by Scream!, but along with being transparent and honest with their customers (which is awesome), it's also serves as a good, if minor, sales tactic. I know I might think about tacking on one of these to an order (like Death Valley) if it's a fun movie, but not anything I want to watch once a year as long as I think it could make a difference for other second tier flicks that I want to see released even more. Hell, that was my reasoning behind day one-ing Dark Angel and Ninja III. I love those genres.

I think Final Exam is more in line with the second/third tier stuff for certain. At least as many folks here don't like as do. Final Terror has appeal like The Burning does what with the setting and the bevy of recognizable faces. I think it's draw would be as big or bigger if it had been more readily available on home video or streaming formats like The Burning was. I'd be very surprised if Final Exam sold as well as Final Terror.

I'm fascinated to see how the "90s" titles (Lake Placid, Ginger Snaps, Dog Soldiers, etc.) do.

No it is not.. its with the Weinsteins who want too much for it...that's the last I heard...on top of them saying *no*

Id say Dawn as possible as Phantasm or Night of the Living Dead at this point.
Of course Id love for Scream to release these gems but what can you do , it's not up to us or Scream at times..

I think you're confusing Dawn of the Dead with Night of the Living Dead at least as far as the Weinsteins are concerned, unless you're privy to some insider information that hasn't been made public yet.

Anchor Bay seemingly lost the rights to Dawn of the Dead roughly around the same time they lost the rights to Day of the Dead. No company has publicly stepped forward to say they've licensed the film, since. Producer and copyright holder, Richard P. Rubenstein, has been producing a 3D version of the film. This verison supposedly premiered at last year's Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. There hasn't been any news since, to my knowledge.

But Night is public domain correct. So anyone can release it.

I have a question that may not even have an answer. Why are some of their releases blu-ray/DVD but some are just blu-ray?

Deals in some cases, some studios deals are for blu rays, and in most cases, combos are because a movie hasnt ever had a DVD or blu ray release such as Without Warning or X-Ray so they do both and fans get the best of both worlds... Movies, like Leviathan or Incredible Melting Man never had a blu ray release, but did have a DVD release - hence it gets only a blu ray release - so those are reasons...

It's weird though. Leviathan recieved a DVD from MGM, but so did From Beyond, The Howling, etc. I don't get this part of the deal. The same goes for Fox: Terror Train recieved a Fox DVD before getting a combo CE release, but Phantom of the Paradise and Lake Placid are strictly a BD.

You haven't done your homework. Dawn is owned by Rubenstein, the producer of the film, and it's up for grabs to anyone willing to shell out required money. So yes, it's a possibility for Scream Factory.

Arrow explained this recently after someone got upset over blu ray only releases.

Some studios are willing to license both DVD and Blu Ray right to a title, but for some titles, only blu ray.

I would have gotten upset that Phantom is BD only if not for my Christmas present from the members here.

Yeah its possible if they want to shell out that much money...Im sure there are other titles that fit under that as well..
I dont mind being wrong , because at least I can learn something new - that goes for all aspects of life..imagine if we all knew everything ?? how boring would that be

I hear the guy that owns Legend of the Werewolf and the Ghoul wants 100,000K+ per title... talk about *rubbish* ($peaking of expensive titles)
