Phantasm II looks beautiful on blu-ray. If anyone is hesitant to buy it because people saying it is an "upscaled dvd", don't let them deter you. It looks great.

Although, there is a little white noise at the top of the frame, but it's not too noticeable. Surprising that nobody brought this up.

http://www.examiner.com/review/shout...pecial-edition The white noise is mentioned in this review.

it's been brought up a few times way earlier in the thread. I actually was pretty disappointed to see it as I feel that it should have been spotted and corrected prior to release.... otherwise I agree that the PQ is actually very good.

I was actually relieved it was just the film itself. I Googled the problem and found that review. It is a flaw but not too noticeable.

I can't believe anyone would think this is an "upscaled DVD". Universal transfers never look this good usually. We should be grateful.

Like many others have mentioned Scream Factory should look into doing better compression. Their releases would look much better.

**ARTWORK REVEAL: PUMPKINHEAD**

We may be in "Summer of Fear" mode now but that doesn't mean we can't talk about our upcoming Fall slate too. Check out the new key art for our upcoming Collector's Edition of Stan Winston's classic PUMPKINHEAD! This spot-on vision comes to us from veteran Scream Factory artist Justin Osbourn (Prince of Darkness, Phantom of the Paradise, Lifeforce, etc.)

The blu-ray release is planned for September. Pre-order links on our site at http://www.shoutfactory.com/screamfactory should appear in June in which a limited edition 18" x 24" poster of the art you see here will be available exclusively through us with purchase.

More details on full extras will be revealed in the Summer so stay tuned!

It would look much more atmospheric and stylish without Henriksen awkwardly wedged in (facial likenesses continue to be Scream artists' primary weakness, yet there seems to be a mandate to include them every time, although I have no idea why - assumedly 'star quality' helps sell films to casual buyers browsing in-store, but most stores don't even carry the Scream releases) but I'm more curious about the reverse art. I'll be severely disappointed if they don't use the VHS cover.

Really like that one. I know they won't but it would be cool if they used one of the "Vengeance the Demon" uk video artworks as thats what i grew up with, but like i said, thers no chance.

I really like it, but I agree, Henriksen does look a little awkward there. Although I disagree with this not nailing his likeness, I think that looks exactly like Lance, Justin did a great job even it if it doesn't really fit the rest of the cover. I'm glad to see Scream has listened and isn't making the cover artists do the floating heads so much anymore.

I quite like that art - it's one of the better ones. It might look even better in one of my black cases (which I'm running out of). Calling Nisei.

I'm new to Scream Factory releases and I had a question about the price point. Right now, their Halloween 2 blu is 18 dollars on Amazon, and I haven't found it cheaper anywhere else. I was just curious as to whether their pricing tends to hover at that point and if I should just pull the trigger on the 18 or if it's known to go lower?

That's a pretty good price. They are right around $20 on Amazon when released. The off chance it comes with a slip would make that price exceptional.
FYI, you can go to any title, by searching the database, on this site, and check the price history, on Amazon, by mousing over the little graph icon.

Not a fan of that custom artwork. I will use the original art.

Scream Factory titles hardly ever go below $18 on Amazon Marketplace. I guess nobody wants to sell a cheap used copy. Luckily, I have only one or two more older Scream Factory titles to buy. After that, it's all upcoming releases.

Shout! Factory and Scream Factory releases rarely drop to more than 40% off their MSRP. Halloween II's been hovering around $18.00 for the better part of a year according to the Amazon Price History on this site's listing, with a few blink-or-you'll-miss-them drops at or under $16.50, and that's probably about as low as it will get.

Thanks for the help, everyone. Looks like I'll go ahead and order it for 18. It'll definitely be worth it - they did a great job with this release from what I can tell.

familyvideo.com has all of the SF titles priced at $17.99 or less. Not including the Amityville or Price set. and shipping for all orders is only $1.99.
