Um yes it is worse...just a dull , tedious experience from start to finish at least to me... but yes some people do like it and there isnt anything wrong with that.

For those of you who got an early copy of The Final Terror, is there any chance you could scan it (300dpi or more) and send it to me? PM me if possible. I would be truly grateful.

Default Reviews of The Final Terror

Has anyone seen any PQ reviews of The Final Terror? So far, I have only seen one review for the Blu Ray, and it focuses on the film a lot more than PQ. That review is at doctormacabre.com. I'm looking for reviews that focus on PQ more than the actual movie. I already know I love the movie .

I'm expecting a shipping confirmation from Blowitoutahere by Thursday. Not really worried about the lack of reviews, as judging by the screencaps it looks like Shout hit it out of the park, but I do find it odd that the BD itself hasn't been reviewed by any major sites. Deadly Eyes was reviewed nearly 3 weeks before the street date so that adds to the strangeness. Whatever. As long as it comes out as scheduled I won't lose any sleep

I have it preordered through Diabolik DVD and it will probably ship Thursday or Friday. The transfer of the clips I've seen look wonderful. I know there will be fading from scene to scene, but compared to the old Vestron VHS it is a significant improvement. Also considering the fact that all original elements are gone, and they used the five best prints from collectors, this is probably the best presentation we will ever see for this film. I'm still ecstatic that Scream rescued this film for the digital age!

Ditto. Thank you all very much. (And Camp_Crystal_Lake - hearing from a strongly biased member was probably the most helpful actually, so thank you for taking the time!)

SUMMER CAMP SLASH-OFF: The Burning vs. Sleepaway Camp!

So of the two, which one would you guys say is overall the better film? Are either of them the kind of movies one might watch more than once? Which one has better acting/production values? For those of use who didn't see these movies growing up and have no nostalgic attachment to them, why would we buy instead of rent? Any thoughts? I'd love input!
I would say the Burning is a better slasher movie with Sleepaway Camp not to far behind...

The Burning.

I've watched both a handful of times within the past year.

The Burning. Better actors, better makeup and effects, better score. Sleepaway Camp does gets points for having some seemingly age appropriate campers and some hilariously creepy adults, but The Burning is a more professional production in every way.

Edit: Sleepaway Camp has the more memorable ending, though.

These are two of the better camp-themed slasher films. I didn't see these movies until the advent of DVD, and I didn't adopt DVD until 2001 or 2002, when I would've been 19 or 20.

Except for Ricky's rivals, where some of them seem to be as old or older than some of the counselors.

I agree with all The Burning suggestions. I found it a lot better in almost every aspect than Sleepaway Camp (not to say Sleepaway Camp is bad).

The Burning is technically vastly superior, but it's WAYYYY less memorable and I'd say it's far less entertaining as well. I've watched Sleepaway Camp a ton of times with friends over the years and it remains funny, "The Burning" is just sort of ugly and mean and I don't think it has much rewatch value other than some good makeup effects. It's not nearly good enough to be in the category of classics like Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street and isn't nearly silly enough to be in the category of really fun rewatchable movies like Sleepaway Camp.

Obviously most people here disagree with me, though

This Weeks titles are up for the Summer of Fear Sale:

-Day of the Dead - $16.99
-Bad Dreams/Visiting Hours $11.99
-Beast of Hollow Mountain/Neanderthal Man - $14.99
-Cat People - $17.99
-Cockneys Vs Zombies - $16.99
-Darkman - $16.99
-Day of the Dead (DVD) - $10.99

I'd like Cat People, but with nothing else interesting me, I think I'm going to pass on this last week of sales. I may pick up Cat People during the Halloween sale (assuming their is one) in October.

I might go for Cat People and Darkman even though it sounds like everyone thinks the pq is horrid on both of them. I like both the movies and the extras sound good.

I agree with you 100%. The Burning is better on almost every technical level but Sleepaway Camp is just more fun and memorable. I'm very surprised that Sleepaway Camp is in the minority here. I thought for sure that it would be a more even split.

The Coasters are cool. I already have ordered twice during this past month so I have 2 sets now. I went out and got some Mod Podge Sealant and plan on sealing them up to ensure their longevity. I tested the sealant on another set of coasters I acquired a few years back from my local Comic shop during a free promotion for Avengers vs X-Men, and while it seems to take a lot of coats, it does seem to seal up nicely, you'll enjoy them.

I'm not really interested in most of the more modern Scream titles. I didn't particularly like Dark Souls for instance. It was merely OK. That said, I thought Cockneys Vs Zombies was pretty great. It was fun and very funny. I"d recommend that one.
