And they didn't really "make a deal" with Warner Bros anyway. They did but really, Shout was releasing a film that Warner owned an alternate cut of and they probably agreed because they wanted a cut before people buy up that version and *potentially* wouldn't buy their own release down the line. That's the most logical assumption about how the Theatrical Cut came to be a limited part of the set.

The Warner stance is still the same. They do not sublicense unless its a RARE occasion when other factors make it so. In other words... This was a one-time fluke. I don't see them (or realistically, ANYONE) cracking open the WB vault anytime soon.

What else is there for them to release? Lionsgate has Hellraiser, and they've already announced Lord of Illusions. Clive Barker's Salomé & The Forbidden? Rawhead Rex?

I hope not. Rawhead Rex is awful.

I agree with Redrunner - that makes the most sense. I don't see anyone sublicensing from Warner, especially when they are buying libraries such as Paramount - they might have Silver Bullet (in response to a comment I saw)
In 2015 The article about Warner already had mentioned Hammer horror titles, and classic films - non horror with Bogart, Flynn, Bette Davis....and they have lots of catalog titles not just their own but other studios as well.
Anyone here like classic films outside of horror ?

I Agree... I watched it for the first time about 2 months ago, and it's not a very well made film at all. It'd be a fun bargain price buy however. The baptism scene alone is worth $5 or so in 1080p...

Well yes Rawhead Rex, Transmutations, and Candyman 2.

Candyman 3 is @ Lionsgate.
Candyman & The Plague are @ Sony.

I would love for Scream to do Frogs, but my gut tells me if it were ever going to happen, they would've released it as a Double Feature with Squirm.

The only problem with FROGS is the title, it's not just about FROGS. The Tarantula scene still gives me the creeps

I've been wanting to see that since 2007. I remember showing clips of it to people right around when the Halloween remake came out.
I had acquired a version that was very low quality a few years ago and when I tried to watch it the video was cutting in and out (no not part of the film) so I just skipped it hoping one day it would come out.
And now that it will be in DirectTV soon, I'm sure a release is around the corner somewhere.
I hope you are right. I would love to own a release of it. I am afraid, though, it has been pirated so much and been available on Youtube for such a long time that no studio will take a chance on it anymore. But as I said, I hope you are right.

I absolutely love Needful Things btw. Its such a great, strong film with lots of dark humor and an amazing premise. I'd love for that one to be announced. I also adore Rawhead Rex, its so cheesy and phallic. Plus that neck twisting scene is amazing (and the priest pissing one). Candyman 2 is an interesting film too.

No. Lionsgate now has the sequels 3-8, 9 is TWC and the first two Hellraisers are Image/Lakeshore.

I will join you take 1000
1)Dolls
2)Monkey Shines
3)Empire of the Ants
4)Food of the Gods
5)Needful Things
6)The Offspring
7)New Years Evil
8)Invaders from Mars
9)the Fly II
10)Scarecrows

**possibly Sleepaway Camp 2/3 .. Hellraiser III ..
I don't see them getting Phantasm especially since they seem to say no all the time about it. There are those who want the Count Yorga films also.. so that might be possible..**

I seem to see a general consensus that the titles will hopefully include Dolls, Fly II, Invaders from Mars, New Year's Evil, the Double Helix Sleepaway Camp sequels, Needful Things, Scarecrows, and Monkey Shines.

I say its a win if we get three or four of those.

I would say so.. those titles would do well
I know many horror movies still are on VHS only so I wonder if they might dig up something like that out of nowhere...

Not sure if this has been shared here or not but somebody asked on FB if they can give any hints as to the 10 titles they will reveal at CC.

I would like to debate you and say there are. As someone who caught it on TV more than once as a child there are definite horror elements. You can't tell me the slug thing going in ears, the creepy locked up berserkers, and that ring with the eye are not in the realm of horror. All 3 of those things creeped me out big time as a child. They're also part of the major charm of the movie and why I still love the original Beastmaster movie as an adult.

Maybe you saw the weak Hurcules-esque TV series?

No. I saw the first two movies, and liked the first way more. That said, I don't really remember the first two things mentioned. I feel that saying this is a horror film is like calling Who Framed Roger Rabbit a horror film because Judge Doom sure is scary.

I wouldn't hate to see the "Director's Cut" of Beastmaster, apparently the studio really f'cked with that film a lot and Mr. C doesn't exactly love the version that's out there.
