Although I appreciate the Collector's Editions, I look forward to the releases like The Beast Within, The Horror Show, and Witchboard just as much as Night of the Demons, Body Bags, and Cat People. But I do like that Scream Factory goes the extra mile with certain releases that they know fans really want (The Fog, The Howling, Prince of Darkness, etc.). I will be getting Ginger Snaps regardless of whether it's a Collector's Edition or not. However, I can see the argument for which releases deserve Collector's Editions. I would have been a bit more hesitant to pick up releases like Eve of Destruction, Ninja III, or Dark Angel if they weren't the low priced regular editions.

Regarding the Arrow release of The Car, I have to disagree with you on one point. While the release is generally good and nice to have on BD, what keeps the release from being "excellent" IMHO is the painful commentary track. It's just really not good, with equal blame lying with the moderator and the director. I would have much preferred some historian or critic giving a "making-of" type commentary. The one that's included is really impossible to sit all the way through, even though the parts I listened to did contain a few nuggets scattered throughout. Again, just my 2 cents.

I never cared for slip covers, they're more annoying than cool as far as I'm concerned. As for extras, I rarely watch them because like porn, once you've see a small handfull...you've kind of seen them all. I don't need to waste time watching how they did the effects/CGI for a film when I already know the process from watching a few extras in the past. Not trying to give anyone shit who likes extras, I get the appeal. I'm just one of the few that wouldn't mind getting the movie with no extras so long as it wasn't overpriced. |

BREAKING: NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2014!
We're thrilled to report today that we are planning to release Brian DePalma's classic 1974 film PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE sometime in the later half of the Summer! This marks the first time the film will be on blu-ray for the first time in the U.S. and Canada. Expect this to be in the "Collector's Edition" series with new extras but we have no other details to report at this time as our deal for this was literally just signed so stay tuned here in the Spring of next year for more info to emerge. ![]() |

The Horror Show 1.5/5? Please. It's fantastically entertaining and tremendous fun. It's obviously tongue-in-cheek. It's clearly not meant to be taken seriously, evident in the general absurd tone and the overracting of the two leads.
And it's 10 times the film the risible Shocker is. Last edited by BarnDoor; 12-12-2013 at 06:41 PM. |

And you know what this means? Another Fox deal. Let the guesses commence. I hope they use the other poster. The one that's on the soundtrack. Just personal preference. That and the fact that it's a combo release. This was foreshadowed... Gerrit Graham in TerrorVision, Jessica Harper in The Evictors, and the late, great William Finley in The Funhouse (I still have no idea why, as he did nothing).
