Although they have yet to release any foreign language films, and may decide (or have decided) that the English-language version would be an easier sell to their target audience. Perhaps the Scream edition will be English-language only, for the casual horror viewer, with both versions saved for a Herzog box that would be aimed more at cinephile fans of the director? Also, if any substantial new extras are to be included, a dual-version release would likely have to be two discs, with each version running approximately 107 minutes. That's an additional cost/retail price issue to consider, especially if it ends up being a combo release. Regarding the BFI edition, most US customers (inexplicably) aren't region-free, so I wouldn't think that would be a major consideration for Scream. Also, they did pointedly state 'We will be releasing the English version'.

A deal with Code Red then? Hopefully they can get Rituals, but Code Red's DVD suggests the materials might a bit too rough for a Blu-ray.
I always refer to Final Exam as the slasher that forgot it was a slasher. The movie starts off as a slasher then goes into a hour long college dorm room comedy(for the lack of a better term) segment and then finally reverts back to a slasher for the last 20 minutes.

Hopefully Scream Factory can rescue Night Warning/Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker.

That's why I HATE Code Red. They announce something, they sit on it and then hoard the rights to these movies so that no one else can release them.

They're like that little kid in kindergarten who grabs all the blocks screaming "MINE MINE MINE" and then shoves them down his pants instead of playing with the blocks.

Personally, I like the slow build. It doesn't always work, especially not with slashers. But I think that's one thing Final Exam has going for it. It is pretty suspenseful in places.

This may be repeating some other sentiments, but why don't most of the Blu-rays have subtitles?

Bill *sits* on it because he doesnt have a lot of money to put toward a title, he is a one man show basically. His budget is limited and always says he loses money on his releases.
If Evilspeak and Final Exam make money then Im sure there could be more titles down the line. I hope this is a big success for all involved !

Oh so?

I do believe we have a Code Redite in our midsts. Well, that's cool. Personally I can't stand his business practices or business model, but to each their own.

Night Warning is a major thorn in my side because Code Red even went so far as to produce special features for a release and then *poof* nothing, nada, zip.

Now instead of unloading the rights to something because as you said, he can't handle it or won't make his money back, he just hoards these titles.

(and because he's always whining about losing money when it's not the titles that are to blame, it's his business model)

ANYWAY, moving on.

I'm excited to see EvilSpeak and Final Exam come to high definition but a little disappointed Code Red didn't push those out themself, I've love to see Code Red go for the gusto with blu-ray.

This announcement contradicts your view of Code Red by showing in practice they have licensed out titles and are not hoarded all rights because someone else IS releasing titles through sublicense from Code Red. Is it backwards day?

Scream won't charge 30 bucks a pop though. Plus, there's the possibility of new extras in addition to all CR extras being ported.

Alright, I suppose I should have been a little clearer. Unreleased titles or titles that have gone out of print.

New extras would be a treat... but for what it's worth Code Red's blu prices have been $19.99 and $26.99, in line with MSRP for Scream Factory titles. The wider availability of cult horror titles the better and I'm glad to Scream Factory chance more "guilt pleasures."

Very happy with the announcement of Final Exam....Great to finally see another 80's slasher in the line up.

Never seen Evil Speak, but have wanted to for years, so great news also.

Will there's be Collector's Editions with slips?

I must say that I'm surprised that when a deal with Code Red popped up, they didn't immediately jump for Popcorn instead of Final Exam. The cover art is already out by one of their artists, and Kristy Jett enjoys them, so The Fan Edition could have made a comeback.

Nope. The pieces of cover art are already posted in the combo thread.

I haven't watched Evilspeak yet, but the DVD I own of it has the green face on the cover. Have not seen Final Exam either, but heard mixed reviews, some people love it some find it super boring. I will be getting both of these though!
