These titles have been with code red - another long-time cult film home entertainment company - for some time and we are pleased that we were able to make a deal with them for these two guilty pleasures.

Expect the same extras that were on the prior code red dvd releases to be imported over. More details on street date and if any more extras are planned will be revealed in the new year.

[Show spoiler]

Yes!!!

Night Warning is a major thorn in my side because Code Red even went so far as to produce special features for a release and then *poof* nothing, nada, zip.

Now instead of unloading the rights to something because as you said, he can't handle it or won't make his money back, he just hoards these titles.

(and because he's always whining about losing money when it's not the titles that are to blame, it's his business model)

ANYWAY, moving on.
Oh, please get over yourself...

*oh so* ? Okay you run a small DVD business which can be very cutthroat, on a very limited budget, losing money on titles, and then let us know how you can do better

I would love it if they could rescue "Sole Survivor" as well. It would sit great along side "Night of the Comet".

I wouldnt think that far with the other Code Red titles- if they make $$$ I know that they would try for more. At least these two are coming for starters.
Its been a pretty cool couple of days with Scream title announcements hasnt it ?

I think the two major problems people have with Code Red is:

1) Bill is very abrasive. Hell, he and his groupies calls anyone that likes Scream Factory or Arrow "fanboys" that have no clue what they are talking about. Yet he'll work with them to release blu-rays??

2) He sits on titles for YEARS and then moves on to others. And he lies about all of his product not selling well. If he's having money problems then why continue to buy up rights to movies that never come out, to just move on to others?

Regardless, I'm excited about these two.

Does anyone else think releasing these two films separately is a bad move opposed to maybe doing these two as a double feature? I highly doubt these movies will sell as good separately as it might as a single double feature unit. I really don't think on their own these movies have that big of fan bases to warrant their own releases and sell well.

Especially, when in the podcast interview they did, they expressed quite disappointment with the way certain titles have sold. I mean if "Deadly Blessing" did what they considered to be very disappointing numbers even with the marketable names that were attached to that film, how good could these films possibly do on their own?

Considering how high priced their discs are as well, I think these two are going to sell terribly. I don't think they really have any double features lined-up in their 2014 schedule so far and this could have been a very good opportunity to do one. If this was a double feature release, I would buy it in a heartbeat. These aren't classic, in-demand films, "Evilspeak" is pretty obscure and "Final Exam" is a C-level slasher with a small cult following, but it still isn't that good.

I'll get off my soapbox now, obviously they seem to know what they're doing, I simply think this is a big misstep where as if they teamed them up for a double feature this could be a bigger hit. Much like the "X-Ray"/"Schizoid" release, I had no desire to own either of them on their own, but together for the price of one, it made the choice a lot easier to purchase it.

They should have gone for Popcorn first...

Also, no double features?
There's one set for January, as well as one set for February.
-Bad Dreams / Visiting Hours
-The Beast of Hollow Mountain / The Neanderthal Man

Totally forgot about the "Bad Dreams"/"Visiting Hours" set. See, now right there that's some genius stuff, a great set, can't wait to buy that. I don't get why they are going to release "Final Exam" and "Evilspeak" separately when they have to know they aren't going to move that many copies as they would if they put them together in one package, but whatever.

As long as they have low sales expectations, they'll be okay. Many of their recent titles were only in demand by the most niche of niche crowds. Crawlspace? Eve of Destruction? Final Exam? They should be happy if those titles even reach Ninja III level sales.

I would hate a double feature of Evilspeak/Final Exam. There's no relation or real common theme for my OCD to accept.

Let's face it, the amount of horror titles available to Scream is a shrinking pie. Sure, new possibilities are always there to be agreed to or found but once all the major titles are released sales estimates have to be adjusted to reflect the more niche and less well known titles being released. That said, I think Evilspeak will do just fine in that context. Final Exam, well, I think there are better slashers currently MIA in the bluray game but who knows what's up with the rights and elements to those movies.

If anything, Final Exam should be paired with Splatter University.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm so glad this isn't a double feature, as it would stuff up my Blu ray order, as I like to have my slashers together and the rest of my horror movies in alphabetical order.

This must really be concerning you, asking it so often. There is little chance of Shout DNRing it. The company that originally made the transfer may have done it, though.
