I cancelled my Shout pre-order of Cat People. I own all the Collector's Editions so far, and I still intend to pick it up. Im just gonna hold off on this one until the February CE's are released.

Out of the 2013 CE releases, I'd say my three were certainly The Fog, Night of the Comet, and From Beyond. Of the Standard releases, I'd have to go with Town That Dreaded Sundown (my replacement arrived btw), The Vampire Lovers, and Terror Vision / The Video Dead. Honorable mention to X-Ray / Schizoid.

I didnt dig Dead Souls, the other newer titles were fine with me, nothing extraordinary. I'm excited for Dead Shadows next year, as well as Beneath, as far as new titles go. I'm seriously excited for EVERYTHING in 2014, so far. They all peak my interest, which I must admit, I didn't experience in 2013.

Prom Night is being released by Synapse. They got the rights through Atlantic Releasing, I think. They also have PN2.

PN3&4 are Lionsgate, as is 976EVIL 2.

976EVIL is Sony.

Rabid Grannies is Troma, I believe.

Hey demonknight, how's the BD Player treating you? Have you had a chance to hook it up and try it out yet?

I thought Dead Souls started promisingly and was interesting, but went off the rails the closer it got to the end. Don't really see myself getting that one. I loved Cockneys Vs. Zombies however and plan to get it soon.

Still haven't made it up to Best Buy, what with the foot or more of snow we got over the past couple days, so I haven't got the new TV yet. I have, however, gotmy first two BDs coming in the mail: From Beyond from Amazon and Dredd, courtesy of Talyn.

Entertainment One should be the overall rightsholder/licensor to all four films in the Prom Night series, but their ability to license Blu-Ray rights to the sequels will likely depend on the terms of existing licenses held by Echo Bridge (PN2) and Lionsgate (PN3 and PN4).

That's correct.

Original producer of Prom Night/Curtains Simcom films rights (later becoming part of the norstar library) were aquired by Alliance, Allience was absorbed by eOne.

Echo Bridge currently has DVD rights to all of the original Prom Night sequels, including 3 and 4, if you believe their website which lists them. Lionsgate's editions of 3/4 are oop, as is MGM's Prom Night II.

Don said on facebook that if the first sold well enough, there would be likely be sequels on the horizon, implying that they are available to him. I guess he just couldn't blow all of their budget of the entire franchise.

Have you seen Beneath yet? If not Chiller is playing today at 1230, its not in HD but if you were on the fence about it that's a cheaper alternative.

Thanks for the heads up.

I've seen it already, thought it was surprisingly good. Not amazing by any means whatsoever, but watchable, enjoyable even. Reminiscent of a small scale Jaws, imo.

Dead Shadows was amazing. I have a friend with an "unofficial copy" () and we watched it a few months ago. Can't wait for it to be released!

Pre-Order is up for DEAD SHADOWS, btw. Release Date is April 29, 2014.

In case someone is still wondering Scream Factory shot down Godzilla 1985 twice last week on Facebook. I swear people dont know how to read older posts

I still am pretty sure it will be a big year for Godzilla with the movie coming this year..

Here is an interesting tidbit I was thinking about, I was looking at box sets such as the Godzilla sets, Blind Dead sets, Giallo box set, the Dawn of the Dead UE from Anchor Bay, Evil Dead , etc and some of those great DVD releases that some of us spent lots of money on back in the day. When you think about it these studios went all out with those amazing DVD releases before blu ray.
I can only imagine some of the studios thoughts about reissuing titles in HD after spending all that time and effort with the DVD releases and packaging- we have yet to see a blu ray of Evil Dead in that Necronomicon packaging, the original King Kong, Mighty Joe Young and Son of Kong in that special packaging that housed all three films, no Hellraiser tins (USA anyway), no Blind Dead coffin sets in HD, no Escape from NY or Near Dark in that great packaging etc ...
And then I wondered about consumers who had to decide if they wanted to buy the same movie yet again...obviously many of us did and were happy about it.

Man, I hope blu ray is it for a long long time

I'd love a Blind Dead set on BD, but if and when one comes out, you can rest assured that it won't look nearly as good as the coffin box. I love those movies, though, so getting them in HD would be a real treat!

I doubt we see the Blind Dead films from Scream Factory, or anyone to be honest.
They didn't sell well did they? I remember all that blah about "Spanish films don't sell on Home Video". Plus Scream doesn't do foreign films.

I'd love for Scream to get Ringu, Calvaire, the original Funny Games, and a ton of others.

I was wondering the same thing. I am a multiple dipper and replace older editions as better ones are released, much to my wife's dismay. I would gladly buy a Blu Necronomicon Evil Dead or a Hellraiser collection. I had all of that stuff on DVD and when I started upgrading, I foolishly sold all of it off, thinking the same editions would be released again on the better format.

Let's start petitioning these companies to rerelease these editions!

Oh man, Godzilla 1985 is like my 3rd favorite Godzilla movie! Well, if it's not going to be Scream, that's fine but someone needs to release it.

Regarding box sets, special editions, ect. I fear we're on the downslide in terms of Home Media. Or so it would seem. Studios appear to be a bit more conservative when it comes to spending money on some of these 'more extravagant packages' these days. (Or at least in terms of Horror.) I dunno, the world is shifting again...

I am surprised Ringu still hasn't been released in the US or UK.

I kept my Evil Dead Necronomicon set (aka Squishy book) and anything that was collectible, packaging and otherwise. Imagine releasing the Blind Dead coffin set only to have blu ray come along..I think Blue Underground lost the rights to the movies too even if did consider a coffin set in HD ..but just saying in general for some titles, even stuff like Laurel & Hardy and the Abbott & Costello box sets, to do that awesome effort for the DVDs only to see new blu ray technology...
It must be tough to decide to go back yet again to to the same kind of set but in HD. And for shoppers who spent their hard earned money to *do it all over again*
Here is one that is Scream Factory related - Sleepaway Camp - Think we will see a box set like the one Anchor Bay did with the Red Cross, all three movies etc ? I doubt it (would be cool though)
Scream also said no because it was done already (he said this on Facebook)
Plus Im sure that there are costs to do this type of packaging and the market for it isnt what it used to be.

This just frustrates me and really shows how Anchor Bay and Lionsgate don't give a shit anymore about their horror movies.
Thank god for Scream Factory, Blue Underground, Dark Sky, Synapse. Scorpeon, Olive

I bet we will see a Sleepaway Camp II/II double set, like X-Ray/Schizoid. I think it would sell very well. Plus, I'd love to see it!

Not in that special packaging though, but you could be right about a 2 disc set...Those special packaging that were for DVDs we may never see a blu ray version of unless its mainstream like Gone with the Wind and Wizard of Oz.

Does anyone remember or own those Warner Collectors set DVDs ? Those were those large large large box sets that had booklets, CDs, lobby cards, etc.
They made them for Exorcist, Time Machine, Superman, Casablanca , etc
