I agree, though if Scream Factory or another indie label puts out a superior release, I'll double dip. Same for Army of Darkness.

I'm happy with my limited edition Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2, though.

What are you talking about? The AB disc of Evil Dead has a phenomenal transfer and plenty of extras (on the limited edition at least), and the LG disc of Evil Dead 2, while a step down, is still excellent, and, as has already been mentioned, is packed with extras. There is absolutely nothing Scream could improve on in either department. I really don't understand the logic behind this kind of post.

No,please! There is so many great horror movies from the 70s and 80s,not available on blu-ray and dvd. Why should they rerelease these movies on blu-ray? Especially when their current releases are good enough. I want and hope Scream Factory are going to release some more obscure horror titles in 2014.

Fanboyism at its worst.

I'd be happy if Scream could get their hands on the Argento Cut of Dawn of the Dead. I like that version the best.

I 100% agree. I'd much rather see Scream release first time to Blu ray movies, than release stuff already available on the format. I also want more Slashers please.

Yes!!!, I'd love them to release the Argento Cut of Dawn also.

Agreed. How many versions of Evil Dead or Halloween does the average person need? While Dawn of the Dead could use an upgrade, I would be hard pressed to muster excitement over an announcement for it. The only recent release I've been excited for isn't even a Blu-ray, it's Scorpion's DVD of THE POWER. Not a great movie but it hasn't been released on any format since the original VHS in the 80's. It's a real treat.

Dawn of the Dead and Army of Darkness both need upgrades. Halloween, Evil Dead, and Evil Dead 2 are perfectly fine as is.

I agree, though, that "upgrades" aren't as exciting as new content, but sometimes they do help.

I would love to see the alternate cuts of Dawn of the Dead presented in an Ultimate Edition. And I could even go for another Evil Dead blu-ray, as I and others missed the 2nd Disc.

Although, for the most part, I would like to see Scream Factory focus on films that haven't already received GOOD and inexpensive blu-ray releases already, or those that never made it onto the format (dvd or blu).

I'd even go for a truly, truly Definitive Halloween release, before everyone involved croaks.

What's wrong with the new 35th Anniversary Edition?

The extras. I'd love more cast and crew interviews. They're all proud and would probably jump at the chance to talk about it for a release, I mean most of them do conventions anyway, and talk about other films.

Don May's footage from Halloween would be killer if included on a future release, although I doubt that ever happens. Which sucks.

I don't consider the 35th Anniversary Edition even remotely close to "definitive". Although I don't think it was intended to be.

Anchor Bay is intentionally milking every single Halloween release, including 4&5. They know people will line up to buy the 40th Anniversary Edition anyway, so why give all the goodies away at once? Which sucks for the fans.

There probably will be a 40th Anniversary Edition of Halloween...but to say that the 35th edition wasn't definitive..I have to disagree. I can't imagine the film looking better than it does. It could have been upgraded to DTS instead of Dolby, but as far as PQ goes, I think it looks great.

It's like you didn't read the post you quoted.

I'm speaking in terms of the Special Features. In that regard, it's just not up to par with the "new standard" of cult classics being released (loaded with bonus content) on the blu-ray format, now. If Synapse, Scorpion, Shout, Arrow, etc. Can do it. Anchor Bay can to...

Again, they won't. Because they're milking it.

It's been mentioned before, but the bonus DVD from the limited edition Evil Dead set doesn't feature any material that isn't available on the Ultimate Edition DVD set from 2007. If I remember correctly, it might even be missing an extra or two from that set. Maybe a commentary?

I'm well aware. Keep meaning to get it, since its cheaper than the 2-disc blu.

But it'd be nice to get those features, or new/different ones, in HD.
For now though, I'm satisfied, I suppose.

It appears that the closest thing we'll get to that is the Boomstick Edition DVD. Or my Frankenstein Screwhead DVD (w/ The Bootleg Edition Director's Cut on another disc).

WB needs to resurrect its Twisted Terror Collection for BD. Especially with some Paramount titles... Relaunch it this September with the releases of:
-Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III
-The Mummy (1959)
-Horror of Dracula
-Cat's Eye
-The Hunger
-The Curse of Frankenstein
-Tales from the Darkside: The Movie
-Red Eye
-Nightbreed
-Eyes of a Stranger

The success of the Scream Factory brand should show them the error of their ways...

Not sure if you know about this, but there is a French Army of Darkness blu that I bought through Amazon France that is region free!
It has 3 cuts of the film, including the Director's cut with amazing picture quality, much better than any US version plus lots of great features.
(the US cut unfortunately is still the same as the US edition with the "warm/hot" color timing.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Army-o...7/#UserReviews

This for now is the definitive edition in my opinion, and makes the all the old Anchor Bay DVDs obsolete.
