I was reading the Scream Facebook page today this morning and saw a user ask *is it true that you are releasing Phantasm?" in the comments section
I checked back later on to see if there was any new stories or more comments and I saw that the users' question about Phantasm was gone. I also got a message from a friend of mine about that. I wonder if the user deleted the comment. I thought it was interesting... I wonder what happened

If its one thing Ive learned, never go jumping to conclusions I just remember seeing that comment this morning and was gone hours later..

I don't know if anyone else here saw that question or not.

I do love Phantasm, and Ill assume it is still a no-go on blu ray unless they announce it.

Dawn of the Dead has a fantastic release from Arrow Video in the UK and the Australian Blu ray is great too.

Just cause the US version isn't up to scratch, doesn't mean other countries don't have quality releases for certain films.

Yes but he is referring to USA releases. Nothing to do with Arrow or other countries. And he is right neither title has had a great definitive release here. I have the Arrow DOTD release , Im kicking the tires on the French AOD..

Releases that needs better *proper* HD re-releases to me : Escape from NY. I cant think of a bigger one than that off the top of my head.

Cool thanks, I guess he took down his post when Jeff said No.
*At this time* sounds like something could happen in the unforeseen future though

Irrelevant to my point.

I honestly think the current BD is pretty good.

How is it irrelevant. Havn't you heard you of importing before?. There's 2 quality release out there that you could easily own.

Most people do not have region free BD players, so for the majority of consumers, it's not an option. I will eventually own a region free BD player, but right now I don't have one, and thus a better release in this region would be appreciated.

I forget about the region thing, as I have a region free player, so its not a worry for me. Both the Arrow and Australia Blu rays of Dawn of the Dead are region free if your interested.

In a single sentence you almost sold me on skipping it entirely, lol. I appreciate your love of the film, and I did enjoy Re-animator (I was in the mood) - enjoyed Slither, but it was way too gross for me to sit through again, once was enough. S&M stuff? Meh. It sounds really cobbled together...oh wait - it was.

I'm glad so many people enjoy it, though. I'll add it to my 'rental only' list for now.

It's been OOP for a while, so you may have a hard job finding it at a 'sensible' price.

The director's cut is on YouTube (possibly in HD). That is how I first watched it. It's not as gross as Slither, but it has a similar idea of man-to-monster. Not to mention that Grant seems to be at least somewhat inspired by Pretorious. Give it a shot.

The Australian version only has the theatrical cut of the film. Other than that, its identical to the Arrow release in terms of special features. Make sure to get the 2 disc version.

Only one cut is a deal breaker for me. I'll stick with my NA release until an Ultimate Edition is released here, or until Arrow prints more copies (I won't hold my breath on that one).

The Blu-Ray for Escape From New York is completely barebones, despite the movie being available on a 2-Disc SE release (with both releases put out by the studio that owns the film). If the extras had been ported over to the Blu-Ray, I honestly would be fine with the release.
