Damn good points for all three haha that sucks

I'm curious who owns the rights to Pin, it's doubtful that Anchor Bay still has it. With the remake moving forward, it would make a great release.

Oh, man. I love that movie. I was just thinking about it the other day. It would make a great Scream Factory release!

It's a Lakeshore title. Anything produced by the post-Corman New World Pictures is owned by Lakeshore. Arrow released PIN on DVD.

I thought she had about the same emotional range in Adventureland as in Twilight. She's a dreadful actress in my opinion, but to each their own.

So, now I'm curious. Which Scream titles would you consider to be fantastic? If we were to look for the 'Cream of the Crop', the 'Top Five' - which titles would fit the bill?

I see most of their titles as more of a niche genre, but are there some that surpass that? (This question could almost apply to anyone here, but seeing as how Redrunner made the statement and I value his opinion... )

Yeah, but it fit the depressed character she was playing in Adventureland, in my opinion.

One of my friends recently told me that one of my ex-girlfriends looked and acted like Kristen Stewart in that movie. I don't know what that says about me!

What does it take for a Scream to decide a release will classify as a "Collector's Edition"? I just got Witchboard yesterday and I was amazed to see how many special features it had for a "regular" release.

I'd say the biggest factor is how big of a "name" the title is. I'd guess this in turn allows Cliff to convince Shout into giving him more money for putting together special features for the title

The only fantastic release under the Scream Factory name in my opinion is The Fog. The rest are satisfactory releases, when you take into account the picture quality, audio quality and extras.

I would've liked Witchboard to come with a slipcase. The decision to include one (or to make something a Collector's Edition) doesn't seem to be based on the number of extras, as it was pointed out above. I think it may have something to do with how big a fan whoever makes the decisions at Shout is of the film in question. The upcoming release of The Final Terror apparently won't be a Collector's Edition but, going by the "Extra Exciting Announcement" headline when they announced it, it will probably be stacked with extras.

Based purely on my opinion of the film(s), not A/V quality or extras.
  1. Vincent Price Collection (The Fall of the House of Usher / The Pit and the Pendulum / The Haunted Palace / The Masque of Red Death / Witchfinder General / The Abominable Dr. Phibes*)
  2. Halloween III*
  3. Assault on Precinct 13
  4. The Fog
  5. The Howling

* - Phibes and Halloween III are amongst my top 20 favorite horror films.

Here is my top 5 from several pages back, in regards to the features, not the A/V (They Live was hammered in that regard).
Quote:
1- They Live
2- Prince of Darkness
3- From Beyond
4- Prison
5- Lifeforce

You really can't go wrong with most of the releases though. I even found the The Island and the Chiller films enjoyable

Soley based on observations it seems that Collector's Editions are films with a pretty wide fan base to me. The more obscure ones seem to get a lot of extras though, but not the collector's edition artwork treatment. Just my thoughts.

It seems to be a mix of popularity and their own personal favorites.

It all comes down to personal taste, but here's my Top 5.

1, Halloween 2
2, The Fog
3, The Burning
4, Terror Vision (awesome film and Scream's best release IMO, it looks amazing on Blu)
5, Night of the Demons (havn't got the Blu ray yet, but I love the movie)

I think the Vincent Price box set should be at the top of any best releases from Scream list. I also think Terrorvision is a close second. I have to admit I had never seen it before I bought the Scream release and I fell instantly in love with it. But VP takes the top. They all look fantastic.

Had this for a while but finally opened it today. I am watching The Fall of the House of Usher right now and I am impressed overall with the image quality, especially since it shares the disc with another movie. Can't wait to watch all of the other movies over the next few days. I don't think I have ever seen The Haunted Palace.
