"The Battery" really is amazing. I initially rented it off Amazon, and a few days later I paid $10 to download a 1080p DRM copy of it directly from the film's website. I will definitely pre-order a copy of it as soon as it's available, as I want to support the filmmakers.

IMHO, it's the best low-budget zombie-related film to come out since the zombie craze re-emerged after 28 Days Later.

However, for people that watch zombie films purely for the gore and violence, you may want to rent this movie before you buy it. The bulk of the movie focuses on the friendship of the two leads in the post-apocalyptic wilderness.

I haven't seen Lone Wolf (1988), but I think it could be a good title for Scream to pick-up. I'd probably take it even if it's just in one of those all night horror marathon 4-packs. It actually looks better than pretty much every Howling movie except the original.

It looks like Prism Entertainment released it on VHS back in 1988.

You raise an interesting point. What if they did an all werewolf 4 Movie Marathon?
-Full Moon High
-Lone Wolf
-Project Metalbeast
-Howling: New Moon Rising (in a slight chance that the rights lapsed and returned to writer/director/star Clive Turner)

I admit to being somewhat underwhelmed with their selection of titles for the summer ..but that's the way it goes..everyone gets a turn to go *whohoo* on their announcements. Im sure for some of us not into their latest announcements there will be something for us later this year.
I am looking forward to Slumber Party Massacre, Sleepaway Camp and Evilspeak ..but Godzilla beats them all ! This is the year of the Zilla !

Yeah. Seems like they're really ramping up the modern movies, as opposed to the "classics". Dead Shadows, Beneath, House in the Alley, The Battery, etc.

Anyway, just finished Lake Placid, and boy, was that not made for me. I just did not care for it. Whatever. At least it was short, at 77 minutes, subtracting the credits.

I'd rather they not set out to intentionally do any more dvd-only's, unless they cant feasibly produce a blu-ray. For no other reason than that I just want to own these films. And I don't buy DVDs.

I have other intrest/hobbies than just movies, and I can't afford to keep up with multiple formats. I buy all Scream Factory blu-rays, I can not say that about any other label, dvd, blu, or otherwise. So they know they immediately have my money with BDs.

The way I look at their selection of new films is that long before Scream Factory came along, Shout still released horror films and newer films too.

So its no different, its just now we are getting new films IN ADDITION TO the "classics".

If Scream was never formed, its very likely we wouldn't be getting as many of the classics, anyway. Just the new ones with a few "Piranha's" and "Stepfather's" thrown in here and there.

It's a good thing, imo. (although dsman might disagree). :P

Agree 100% Lake Placid, what people see in this film...well that is another story, its all good. I thought it was Alligator Poo myself
I guess they want to be diverse...still, there are better and more well known films that collectors want...

Personally, I can only see Full Moon High getting a BD out of any of them. And that's just because I have seen it be in HD (ImpactOnDemand) So, yeah.

While I do agree with you about the new movies, I wish it would be like last year in the amount of older titles we get.

I'm all for a Lone Wolf blu ray. I was just suggesting it as part of one of the All Night Horror Marathons if there weren't any good prints available. It seems to be a forgotten 80's werewolf movie so who knows how well the film has been taken care of.

Not all of the Howling sequels are bad.

Freaks is great, II is hilarious, The Original Nightmare, and 7's okay too.

III is just awful, Reborn is too Twilighty. the other's just plain forgettable.

I would say that FREAKS was pretty good, Original Nightmare was okay...

the rest are awful on every level! One of the worst series ever made.....

I can Understand why some people are not happy with some of Scream's announcements, but I don't mind, They new titles are somewhat refreshing, reminds me of looking at the past, present and future at the same time. Classics, current and what we can hope for in future horror movies. I Buy everything Scream, cause I want them to flourish and continue their work, if they just focused on old movies and never before released movies they could be gone. they have to play it cool and smart. You can call me a sheep for following them blindly, I won't care. Cause I don't care what other's opinions are, I will understand them and know why, but it won't mean I agree with you. Scream your the Best, Keep up the work and Cliff, I Hope to hear more from you

Scream Factory forever

I got Night of the Demons the other day, and this was the first release I've obtained in Canada where the slipcover was shrink wrapped. Is this something Shout! will be doing from now on?

I agree, I'm not saying Lone Wolf is good, but it couldn't be any worse than the sequels in The Howling series. Part 2 and 4 were the least bad in my opinion.

It's the year of GODzilla. "Zilla" is a clumsy, cowardly androgynous American reptile with a Jay Leno jaw that eats tuna (instead of nuclear power) and runs away from armies.

Off topic, I know, but I just saw Nurse 3D.

It made my popcorn taste bad... But I kinda liked it, in the same way I liked Troll 2. It was terrible and so endlessly stupid, but in a fun way. The script sucked, and the acting did too, which bummed me out. (Its sad when Judd Nielson gives the best performance in a film, especially surrounded by so many usually-good actors) The cinematography was gorgeous though, and the 3D looked good. But the characters say/do the dumbest shit and there's no resolution at all in the end. It was horrible, but the gore and unintentional comedy made me a fan. But gawd did it suck. I give it props for being a true exploitation film in exery sense of the word. It was all about blood and nudity, in such a way that I haven't seen in a long time. It's fun but only if you completely shut your brain off and try to rationalize impossible questions like "in the year 2014, why don't they have camera's in this hospital? With all the sex and murder going on wouldn't some one get fired?" and "why is the hospital suddenly a mansion with a grand staircase that is also used as the interior of two other locations?"... Its bizarre. But fun... Must see to be believed. Lol.

Like some other posters, I'm interested in few of the newer releases, and I don't buy DVD anymore. I'm really looking forward to Sleepaway Camp, Nosferatu, The Final Terror, Final Exam, Evilspeak, and Slumber Party Massacre. I won't be buying Ravenous, Lake Placid, or the brand new films. Too much 80's horror I need to buy on blu first.
