They released a dvd years ago but a blu would be grand!

I've been wondering about that myself (their TEXAS CHAINSAW blu looks pretty damn good!).

And a definite + whatever for a LIFEFORCE blu (or even special edition). I do have a DVR of a HD playing, and while it looks fantastic for the most part the few scenes where Matilda is ...um... "sucking" out the lifeforce of people the screen glitches. It's especially bad during Steve Railsback's hospital nightmare (with all of the pulsing red lighting).

So having a properly compressed blu-ray of LIFEFORCE (with unglitchy FX scenes) would be fantastic... and yes, Matilda would classify as one of the best special effects ever created.

Needful Things would make for a great selection and the Stephen King connection could help sell it. I believe there is extended footage available for it that only showed up for television distribution. It's occasionally ran on cable broadcast in the past few years and looks pretty good in HD. A great performance by Max von Sydow.

Dark Sky Films is a subsidiary of MPI Media Group, and I think the distinction is really in name only.

MGM's US edition has a modified soundtrack. The Second Sight UK edition has the theatrical soundtrack, but the video is a bit inferior.

Has anyone mentioned Wes Craven's Mind Ripper aka The Hills Have Eyes part III? Its never been out on any disc format in the U.S. Anybody know who has the rights or anything?

Well, there is a long list of alternate titles. But, I remember 'Mind Ripper' being the title from some Euro dvd release - maybe UK?

And I vaguely remember it being on HBO, so Warner sounds about right.

Why would we need another version of ROTLD?

It seems ROTLD has had very good releases, with the recent UK version being the best of the bunch because of the inclusion of the original soundtrack. Except there are 20 minutes of deleted footage that only bootleggers have been able to compile and release on workprink editions of the film. Until a legitimate company comes along and replicates this version, no version of ROTLD will ever be definitive.
