I saw Quarantine and thought it was okay. I understand these films are much better though.
If you want to get these movies, I recommend the Canadian releases. They're region A and have great video and audio quality. I couldn't imagine that a U.S. release would improve upon them.
I was thinking about going that route. I guess I like to hold out for US releases whenever possible...as this series isn't "must own" for me. Altough I'd buy day one if SF did them.
I'm just surprised these never made it to the US. Even after Quarantine? Oh well, maybe some day.
Maybe when Rec 4 finally comes out the U.S. will release the entire series. I just got tired of waiting.
A couple things:
  • Sony only has US rights to [rec] and [rec] 3: Genesis. [rec] 2 is with Magnolia.
  • The Canadian [rec] / [rec] 2 box appears to be OOP. [rec] 2 is still available individually.

Who's up for this one?

It's a Cannon/ITC co-production and could use a BD here in the US in a collector's edition with art by Justin Osbourne or that Nathan guy plus the original theatrical cover art.

It could have a restored new HD transfer and extras like commentary, documentary, deleted scenes, trailers, TV Spots, radio spots, poster and still galleries, interviews etc.

I'd definitely go for it. One of the better werewolf films.

And a Neil Jordan-creepier "nightmare" movie than David Lynch ever made.

First time I've heard of it. I do like werewolves, though, so I might be interested.

A Company of Wolves is actually my favourite werewolf film... although, it's more a dark coming of age tale rather than a werewolf film as such.

There is a region free UK Blu-ray for those who are interested.

You're playing with fire here. The possible comparison to Ginger Snaps could ignite pages of debate!

Well Company came first and with Scream did Howling and Cat People (if it somewhat counts as a semi-werewolf film) and now with Ginger Snaps and Dog Soldiers, this werewolf gem could use the CE SF treatment

Nope--No wishful crabby-goth-girl fantasies here.
Just pure Neil Jordan (during his "weird" High Spirits phase) trying to interpret psychological Angela Carter, by making the werewolf story seem like a sort of REM-state nightmare, in color: Isolated wolf-metaphor stories that wander in and out of the "dark Red Riding Hood" plotline at random, with a sort of hysterical eeriness, an oddly artificial-looking wooded set with few actors, and no real definitive direction or ending...
Imagine the Twilight "Red Riding Hood" movie filtered through "Eraserhead".

Just added the DVD to my Netflix queue.

Me, me, me! (*jumps ecstatically up and down*)

I love that movie! Saw it first on TV around 1990 or so and was absolutely taken by the atmosphere, though I admit I did not understand what really was going on it back then.

I remember the theme track was released as part of some best-of-British-soundtracks collection, which our local library bought on 2XLP and I often would take home. I think I even still have the little verse memorized:

Little girls, this seem to say
Never stop upon your way
Never trust a stranger friend
No-one knows how it will end
As you are pretty, so be wise
Wolves may lurk in every guise
Now, as then, 'tis simple simple truth
Sweetest tongue has sharpest tooth

EDIT: Just looked it up, and it seems that more than 20 years after hearing it last, I still remember it pretty well. Also, and I did not know this, the text actually originates from the French 17th century version of Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault.

Some Scream Factory stuff that I saw on Facebook = the arent able to get Ghost STORY (not Ghost Town, I edited my post guilty as charged lol), there is no title announcement today and this direct quote in response to a fan inquiring about Lord of Illusions *leaking* from Clive Barker..

Scream Factory There is no official word or signed deal for another Clive Barker film other than Nightbreed at this time. There have been discussions about some of his other films but nothing concrete. Once there is something definite we will officially announce it here.

Should make for an even more interesting year IF we get Lord of Illusions and other Barker titles from SF

Just the fact that they are talking about getting multiple Barker titles makes me excited.

It also makes me think they may be trying to ignite a Sony deal. That could be the big announcement they are planning to reveal in May (I think they said May?) according to the Killer POV podcast from a few weeks back.
