I know it's not a competition but they need to announce a bulk list of mind blowing titles, not a so so title once a month.
Just because a film is old that doesn't make it a classic !

No, you're right, Price in ToB is a completely DIFFERENT presumed-dead sympathetic madman with an ingenious themed vendetta of elaborately revenged art-murders against the circle of nine snooty highbrows who uncaringly "killed" him years earlier, aided by his ruthless and cold-bloodedly faithful seductive "daughter"....I mean, he wore a mask in the other one!

(In fact, considering the lack of a "theme" to the murders in Dr. Phibes Rises Again, might as well throw out that one and make Theater the "official" Phibes sequel.)

Excuse me but Dr Phibes is not Dr. Lionheart in Theater of Blood. The stories may be similar, but they are not the same person.
So I suppose Gappa makes the complete Gorgo series since each film has a group of people who kidnap the monsters' young.
Wow movies DO have similar stories and plots, imagine that

No need to be a sarcastic thank you

Well, thought it was more like the usual Pt. 3, where they still had the star and the concept, but couldn't bring back everything from the first two films and had to wander off the first-movie premise a bit to keep the franchise formula...

Well I'm pretty sure I said lately, which is for the most part true. Their last few announcements have all been for the most part modern films. Either way, that's still more then a third of their titles. Plus you are leaving off the modern title releases that are DVD only.

That's true, but I think most would agree, most of the classic films are older films. I'm willing to bet that on the average horror fans Top 100 films of all time list, a very small percentage would be modern films. Actually, doesn't a film have to be aged a certain amount of years before it can be considered classic? A film that came out last year can be good, but I don't think it would be right to call it a classic.

You are probably right about this, but it will definitely hurt Scream's sales as MANY will have already grabbed Motel Hell, Squirm, Deranged, The Burbs, ect. from Arrow. I'm not region free, so I'll wait it out for Scream to get around to releasing them, but it definitely seems like I'm in the minority.

Are steelbooks cheaper to produce every where but the US? Arrow and many other foreign companies seem to release steelbooks on every other release, yet Shout says they are too expensive and refuse to release their titles in them, or you have companies like Synapse that release them, but double the price!? I love steelbooks and it's a shame to see NA catalog releases get ignored.

One of the things I love about Arrow is the pre-order discounts on their steelbooks, which mean that a US resident ultimately only pays a few bucks more ($25 vs. $20) for an imported Arrow steelbook than they would for a domestic, non-steelbook Scream release. Plus, even with overseas shipping, US Arrow customers still receive pre-orders before release date, frequently by several days. I can't say the same for my Scream pre-orders, which typically arrive, at best, one day before release, and occasionally even after release date. In any case, I appreciate the work of both companies, but the discerning genre fan with eclectic taste really needs to be region-free in order to have the pick of the litter.

Scream Factory just announced the Monkeys Paw ! Jumping for joy so not
What is this movie ?
Great response to Arrow Films which announced titles that people actually want... well Im sure some people will be happy...
These people read fan requests all day, say no to them and offer a Monkeys Paw instead ? I wont be blind buying this and it doesn't sound something that I would be interesting in spending money on.
Hooray for Arrow Films is really all I can think of !!

Monkeys Paw is one of the better George A Romero efforts, it has some terrific suspense towards the end.... not something I would recommend to anyone as a blind buy, but if the subject matter appeals, then it's a good movie and worth a look

Are you perhaps thinking of Monkey Shines? I don't think this 2013 Monkey's Paw is directed by George Romero, but I'm not 100 percent sure on that.

Did you mean Monkey Shines? That one wasn't bad.

The Monkey's Paw though, wasn't too good, IMO.

We have a new contemporary title joining our “Summer of Fear” line-up. In June, we will be releasing Chiller TV’s THE MONKEY’S PAW both on DVD & Blu-ray. Pre-order links should be going up next month. Full list of extras will be announced in April.

Starring Stephen Lang (Terra Nova, Avatar, Conan the Barbarian) and Corbin Bleu (Dancing with the Stars, High School Musical) this 2013 feature film had a limited theatrical run last year and recently premiered to great ratings on Chiller TV in January. The synopsis (in case you haven’t seen it): A young man acquires a mystical "monkey's paw" talisman that grants its possessor three wishes and finds his world turned upside down after his first two wishes result in a co-worker being resurrected from the dead who commits murder.

For those keeping score of our “Summer of Fear” release schedule so far, here are the titles (starting in May through Aug): Final Exam, Evilspeak, House in the Alley, Nosferatu, Sleepaway Camp, Ravenous, Dog Soldiers, Ginger Snaps, Hellhole, Deadly Eyes, The Final Terror, Lake Placid and Phantom of the Paradise. You will be happy to know that we have 4 retro-films that we have yet to announce planned for Aug (including one that we think will really surprise you) so stay tuned for those reveals in the near future.

Same here. While their are some enjoyable modern horror films I still don't get that excited about them and honestly don't like most of them. They lack the charm of the older stuff to me. The only modern horror film I might get excited to see Scream announce is Slither(IMO one of the best modern horror films).

I like the original Monkey's Paw story. Didn't really care for the Chiller movie adaptation though, but still worth a watch at least once.
