Why are you looking at it when you could be buying it.

Oh I am. Just curious since it's sealed, doesn't have any punchouts or anything to indicate it's NOT the March 18th retail release

They've been known to have things out weeks in advance like that. Score!

Jesus Christ, it's hard to stay relevant in here when every couple of hours there's two or three new pages of comments.

Is "Lake Placid" really that well received? I really don't find it to be a good fit for the "Collector's Edition" line, and sadly, I've bought up every single film released under that banner, but I can't see this one. I really don't find it to be that good of a film even in the realm of horror B-movies.

I know this has been discussed probably at length but, really what's up with last 5 or so "Collector's Edition" titles' slipcovers? Seems like every other one has a gloss type finish to it opposed to the more typically just plain cardboard feel. Is there any reason they're doing this that anyone knows of? Such a petty thing I know, but really I'd like to know the reasoning behind this, why not go with one or the other?

Wanna grab me a copy while you're there? Really. What special features did they include?

I don't think it's unusual for the retailers to have them this far in advance, but they don't usually make it out onto the shelves this early. Let us know what you think.

As for Lake Placid, some like it. Some (me, you) don't.

As for the slipcovers, just be glad you're getting them at all.

Got a point there, and I gotta say, shrink-wrapping the entire package has got to be one of the best moves they've made, they obviously heard the feedback, a shit-storm of people requesting new slips, getting damaged ones, ect. I'm so glad they put that shit to bed by doing this, total win-win for everybody.

And again regarding "Lake Placid" I just feel like it's slightly killing the street cred, the coolness of the entire "Collector's Edition" line. I really wanted to make a complete collection out of all their offerings under the banner, but I really cannot bring myself to buy this one and it kinda sucks knowing that I'll forever have an incomplete collection of their "Collector's Edition" titles. Might seem odd to others, but I don't know maybe it's just an insane collector's type thing.

Who cares, You don't have to buy every movie in the Collector's Edition series... Get real. If a movie sucks, It sucks. Don't buy it.

Brother, I'm real. I know I don't have to buy and I'm not, I got an opinion like everyone else around and I think this is a total misstep on the part of "Scream Factory."

They should have just released this the way they release those other horror films no one has ever heard of like "Dead Souls" and whatever else.

Despite your attitude though, I'm getting a real kick out of your "Crimson skull/Misfits" avatar.

Unfortunately it only includes 20 min. of the documentary, just the part that focuses on the first film. Dissapointing that they split it up as it had a nice flow on the DVD collection.

I wasn't trying to get an attitude with you, I just meant you do not have to or need to buy every release.

BTW, My avatar... You do know it is a real picture, Right? This is a serial and The Misfits used The Crimson Ghost as their Mascot. The serial is called "The Crimson Ghost" from the 1940's. Best serial EVER! The Misfits... Best Punk band EVER! BOOOOOMMMM!!!

I hope Blowitoutahere gets Night of the Demons back in stock soon. I ordered it last weekend and it's still on backorder.

Lake Placid was requested by quite a few people; it's a pretty high-profile title. While I wasn't a fan when I watched it a few years ago, I can see why Scream would give it the CE treatment.

That sucks man, so they didn't bother porting over their own audio commentary? Wow. I guess I have every reason in the world to just hold onto the three film collection set they released under the "Roger Corman's Cult Classics" banner and pass on the blu-ray. Upping the picture quality on this one isn't that big of a deal to me.

Really? It looked a little superimposed to me, but nevertheless, cool avatar. I really dig the Danzig-era "Misfits" as well, "Walk Among Us" has been one of my favorite records for years and years, I absolutely love it.

Edit - I gotta wonder if "Shout!" ever looked into acquiring the rights to "Unsolved Mysteries", whoever put out the last DVD sets seems to have let them go OOP, and I really miss watching those classic episodes.

Thanks. I've been a Fiend for many years. The Danzig days are amazing, The Misfits are not The Misfits without Glenn Danzig.
If you've never wached The Crimson Ghost Serial, Try it, It's the best Movie Serial ever.

Why do you keep talking about how they are ruining the Collector's Edition banner?

There is no banner. There titles are beyond competely inconsistent since day one. They just pick name titles, and Lake Placid is one. It's spawned a four film franchise, and soon a spin-off with the Anaconda films, Lake Placid Vs Anaconda.

Who cares? That's a really weird thing to be hung up on.

I too thought it was strange to even care. But....

I think what we all need right about now is a "retro" announcement.
