I'm pretty excited for the new announcements.

Anything that used to be owned by Anchor Bay would befantastic...Phantasm, Alligator...whatever. All good stuff.

Sleepaway Camp sequels, The Initiation, Sorority House Massacre or something would be nice.

Failing that I'm happy to discover new stuff.

I have three words for you: Roller-skating transvestite vampire.

Personally, I'm always surprised whenever someone requests C.H.U.D. II - Bud the Chud. I'd love to see C.H.U.D. from SF, though!

For those giving 4 predictions it should be noted that Scream referred to 'a couple' of announcements, which should really be two, unless they're feeling particularly generous. So I doubt we'll get the entire August slate on Monday.

Hilarious

In all seriousness, Fright Night 2 was a pretty decent effort considering what it had to follow. Fright Night is a horror movie classic, and probably my personal favorite horror movie of all-time. The sequel could of used more of the guy pictured below.

No surprise there. They chose two obscure, unremarkable, and unmarketable titles, and, as everyone here predicted, resulting sales of a DVD-only disc were weak.

I got lucky (very lucky, it seems) and found both Witchboard and Night of the Demons in stock at an HMV on day 1. It wasn't at either of my usual blu-ray retailers. It's odd, because some Scream titles show up immediately (just about everything before The Beast Within and Crawlspace), but lately it's been extremely hit-and-miss. And I don't just mean hit-and-miss on day 1; ever.

Q is the first one that I broke down and ordered online, and then it was only after a couple of months of waiting for it to show up..."organically"? I have to wonder what dictates this, because it definitely seems like it's not at the discretion of the retailer; either a Scream title can be found in any of the local stores or none of them. Something about the Canadian market?

Do we know who might have the rights to Don't Go To Sleep? I'd love to replace my bootleg of that one. And judging by the similar sentiments of others I think that one would be a decent seller. Something Evil has the Spielberg factor, though I don't think much of it. A Cold Night's Death would be very welcome.

What other old TV movies would people like to see? I think the two Kolchak films would do well on Blu-ray, given their popularity. But I'm struggling to think of others which Scream would conceive of releasing on Blu-ray. The Norliss Tapes would be nice but it seems improbable.

I'll take DVD or Blu-ray to be honest. I hope the Horror Marathons have sold well - I'd like to see a couple more of them.

Speaking for myself...

I DEFINITELY would have bought TV TERRORS on Blu-ray.

I DEFINITELY have no interest in buying it on DVD.

I got most of the DVDs I wanted 10 years ago. I got my first HDTV in 2003 and I'm just not interested in stepping back in time to standard defintion. And I certainly don't won't to hand over my money to support or encourage the continued release of material in an obsolete format. In case these companies haven't noticed, it's 2014 not 1998.

It annoys me that studios use that old obsolete format to forecast Blu-ray sales...but that's what they do.

Except it's not an obsolete format...not by a long shot. To you, maybe, which would be your opinion...but certainly not on a global scale.

That's an incredibly close indeed minded point of view. Some films will never have a quality HD print (most TV movies), so you'd have to live without them.

I can understand their reluctance to release made-for-TV movies, and even them putting them on DVD only.

However, I do think The Midnight Hour is one that has appeal beyond the "made-for-TV" audiences. Might be difficult for them to acquire though, I imagine the music rights would be hell.

+1. When I go to Target the DVD to Blu-ray ratio is 2:1. Most people couldn't care less about blu-ray, unfortunately.

You may view DVDs as obsolete, but from the home video market, that's not the case. I work in a music/video store, and just based on the market in my area, we still sell a LOT more DVDs than Blu-Rays, and that's with me trying to make sure we keep a decent amount of catalog in stock (we seem to be the only store in the area to get Scream titles in stock, and only because I go out of my way to order them every time; you can ask neoz).

They were testing the waters to see if TV Movies were marketable, if sales increased then they would have released more, and maybe even release (or even re-release) some of them on Blu-ray, they said they won't do TV movies because they are not as marketable as features, or have a big fan base. If the sales were successful then we would have more TV movies released, I understand you don't want to buy DVDs because you see them obsolete but if the sales of this DVD were high then maybe they would find a HD master of the film and release it on Blu-Ray.

I feel the same way as Dex, I have chosen not support that format any longer, I understand that I will miss some releases but I can live with that.

Sadly I agree, if anything it will be even more niche, and available in even fewer places, more akin to SACD.

People who pass on DVD only titles that havent got a chance of getting a blu ray release are missing out on movies they *like*
That stubbornness is pretty ridiculous , DVD and blu ray are here to stay IMO

Different stokes I guess. Since getting my BD player, I have bought one release: From Beyond. I have bought countless DVDs though. I will tend to go with DVDs and combos, as I can watch them at any given person's house. My father only has a DVD player, so when I go down to Florida to see him, I fill a case with my favorites and watch some there.

I still have far more DVDs than Blu Rays...and my being open to DVDs has given me the pleasures of watching 95% of the Godzilla movies, Warners Gangster and Film Noir sets, 100% of the Charlie Chan sets..all of the Shout Factory Gamera movies , the Blind Dead Coffin set and countless others...
Would I upgrade them ? Sure, but until then I can watch them, and I still have 3 VHS tapes left
