Pretty much this.

Yeah, you really have to buy these sets with the thinking that these are films that are otherwise unavailable on DVD or Blu-Ray. The Outing and Cellar Dweller (the two best films from either set, IMO), probably fared the worst. I hope film elements for at least these two films turn up at some point so that they can get a more fitting release.

I actually prefer the non-CE route, since it shaves a few dollars off of the MSRP.

Are they all living in the US, though? Hough's British and Revill's a New Zealander. I don't think the budget is there to bring the living participants in from overseas or to send someone out to them for interviews or other such features. The film was produced in the UK. I'd love to see a Horror's Hallowed Grounds for Blenheim Palace, but they're not going to send Sean Clark halfway around the world for a 10 - 20 minute extra.

I read somewhere (this thread, a VP thread or some other random place on the net) that the guy who did the Iowa public TV bumpers for Volume 1 prepared them for all 12 films in the series for Shout. I'm sure that a chunk of Vol. 2 will be from that list as well. Here are the 12 films they have the intros/outros for (7 bolded not yet released):

The Fall of the House of Usher
Pit and the Pendulum
Master of the World
Tales of Terror
The Raven

The Haunted Palace
The Comedy of Terrors
The Masque of the Red Death
The Tomb of Ligeia
Conqueror Worm
Scream and Scream Again
An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe

It's Scorsese's favorite of the Corman/Poe cycle (and De Niro and Keitel watch it in Mean Streets). It would be a major coup if Scream got Scorsese to do an interview.

I'm a sucker for the newly commissioned (and double option) artwork, so I say bring on the CEs

Hell, while they're at it, they should get Boxcar Bertha from MGM.

Well, I just finished Ravenous and I enjoyed it. The first half was absolutely brilliant, but it seemed to lose a bit of steam after that. It was still good, but I just think that it wouldn't be worth a repeat viewing anytime soon.

Interesting. As mentioned before I hope Oblong Box and Scream and Scream Again aren't included as they aren't really Vincent Price films. He has a total screen time of what, 10 min. or less in each? And Master of the World would be more of a Shout release no?

Give me films that Price headlines!

Here's my list:

Dr. Phibes Rises Again
Theatre of Blood
Madhouse
Tales of Terror
Twice Told Tales

Everything else is pure gravy after these are released.

I'm just not into Italian films except for The Bicycle Thieves, sorry.

Oh my god, now I NEED to hear this commentary. You know, watching the special features for King Of New York was the first time I had actually seen and heard Abel Ferrara. And now I know why The guy is DIFFERENT.

Have you heard the commentary for King Of New York?? The moment he flat out says that he's only doing this because he got paid 5000 quid! And the comments, jesus. He takes the piss out of EVERYONE and he obviously either banged the hell out of all them birds he casted on the film or wanted to because the bloke properly lusts every time a member of the opposite sex shows up!

I have NEVER heard a filmmaker talk the way Ferrara does, it was insane. Pray Arrow give him some more dose so he can make other ones! It's refreshing to have a director who isn't sitting there while sipping water and patting everybody on the back with comments like 'he did such a good job'.

Ferrara is like an exaggerated version of John Carpenter, personality wise. Theres not an ounce of bullshit or compromising with them, they tell it like it is, the are happy to expose the film business for what it is and are now only concerned with making money now. They won't be a part of 'the system'.

Get this...some random Italian geezer with a bit of dose met with Ferrara and decided to give him about 5 million quid to make King Of New York as long as he got a credit. He didn't interfere with the production and I don't even think he wanted profit from it, i'm not sure. Just like that, gave him the money. That will NEVER happen again in the industry.

Brilliant.

Apparently on Driller Killer, he says something along the lines of: What's happening? That's not my ending. Why'd they change it for this release?

Lol, oh man, I NEED to see this film AND the commentary. Is there a blu ray release?

I'm a bold bloke. Obviously i'm not saying I hate every Italian film. There are some ones, but they certainly don't appeal to me the way a lot of German and French and Danish films do, if we go by the European market.

No blu yet. Except for a DVD quality multipack that may or may not be region free. No features on that though. It's public domain here.

Wait, what about Brotherhood of the Wolf? What are the chances of that getting a Blu-Ray release from Shout?

Actually they are Price films, he is top billed..he appears in them for more than 10 minutes...and they are good movies..id take them both over Twice Told Tales. Maybe Price isn't as prominent as the other movies, but he is the star of the movie and has more screen time then Christopher Lee... Hessler really dropped the ball having them work together ...one whole scene per film !

I agree with this, the beginning is incredibly tense, climaxing with the scene where the exploration party goes into the cave while Robert Carlyle starts going nuts outside. It ends up just turning into some kind of superhero slug-fest in the last act. Bleh. It's still worth watching overall and is an interesting movie and has flashes of brilliance but it still felt like such a missed opportunity by the end.
