I didn't know about those - any Lifeforce and/or Black Sabbath fans should be all over those discs, they're significantly superior to their US counterparts.

Really? The comparisons of Lifeforce at capsaholic don't seem to show any significant difference. (Although it could be this monitor.)

The Arrow release is THE edition to get of Vamp. I got it for xmas and was blown away by the PQ and AQ. The special features including the poster, booklet and reversible cover are outstanding.

Visual differences are relatively minor - some compression on the Scream disc that isn't present on the Arrow one, which has a healthier bitrate/superior encode, but the Arrow disc includes all of the Scream extras plus a full-length, detailed, and surprisingly candid documentary on the film's production and reception, isolated score, and an additional commentary. Plus, the Arrow theatrical cut is progressive, while the Scream one is apparently interlaced. There's more discussion of the differences in transfer here. Plus, as with all Arrow releases, you get a big fat booklet with plenty of photos and an essay/interview.

That does sound pretty comprehensive. And I'm guessing the theatrical version doesn't have that strange echo chamber effect on the soundtrack, a rather annoying aspect of the Scream release.

Yup. From the DVDActive review:

Quote:
As with the video, the theatrical cut's audio is also technically superior to the US disc, featuring as it does both DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and LPCM 2.0 soundtracks (the US is Dolby Digital 5.1 only). The lossy 5.1 track on the US disc reportedly has a few quality issues – tinny, hollow sound being the common criticism – but the UK disc doesn’t appear to be similarly afflicted.

Does anyone follow Clive Barker on Facebook? I was just looking through some older messages he left for fans and I found this one from Feb 13th:

"Clive Barker The other movie of mine that Shout is preparing a definitive new edition of (I've just seen the art-work for theDVD.It's superb ) is indeed LORD OF ILLUSIONS,as many of you have already guessed. The edition will have both cuts of the film, interviews, analysis,a profile of D'Amour traced through all his literary and cinematic journeys and Nix knows what else...It's going to be a whole new vision of D'Amour's world, all the way up to,and including ,THE SCARLET GOSPELS.My love to you all, Clive Barker"

Shout hasn't confirm this, right?!? This is great news!

The steelbook is gorgeous if you're into those. I just checked, and Arrow's Invasion of the Body Snatchers also works. Damn, people really need to pick up a Panasonic player, that's TWELVE of their discs that play!

Not confirmed yet by Scream Factory. I'm surprised nobody else had picked up on this yet since he posted this on 02/13.

I believed someone said this on FB, and they responded with: "We cannot comment at this time." But more Barker in a CE with director/writer approved art.

Well, it's on the forum now, so it will be a surprise announcement next week. Or tonight/tomorrow.

Clive is not very good at keeping secrets.

I'm relieved to hear that the unrated director's cut will be included, but why even bother with the theatrical cut? That would only increase the possibility of compression issues.

You mean Pissed? right? and nothing is confirmed completely yet. Until Scream announces it, then we can rejoice (with more joy)

Where's the best place to order to still get the slipcover?
Was the slip even limited to begin with?

Well, the director confirmed it. And said he saw the artwork. So confirmation.

I am fairly confident that he didn't just imagine that they are working on one of his films and showed him the newly created artwork for it... Lol.

Why are people so hesitant to believe things on this forum? You should be happy, not unbelieving of the obvious.
