It probably outsold retailers' (and Shout!'s) expectations.

Has that been the case with Darkman specifically?
Starting with Cat People, all slipcovers going forward will be shrinkwrapped. B&N can't remove the slipcover without removing the factory seal.

Getting worried I won't get a copy from the initial pressing and therefore won't get a slip.
How limited are these becoming? I just ordered Night of the Comet from blowitoutahere and honestly expect it to arrive with a slip? Would like for it to fit in with the rest of my Collectors Editions

Amazon has understocked several Scream titles - I've received at least two pre-orders a week after release.

AmazonUS seems to have their normal stock at the usual price.

Scream Factory has (more or less) said on their Facebook page that slipcovers usually last three months after a film's release date. After that, it's up in the air. However, that statement is only related to their website, I belive. I can't speak for other sites.

In my experience though, Amazon is usually pretty good about keeping slips on films even well after their release. I would assume the same for an SF release.

From here on out they CAN'T take off the slips, so ordering within the 3 month timeframe should guarantee a slip.

Yeah, sorry, should have been clearer. They'd made that statement in relation to titles before Cat People which is when they changed their policies.

I'm glad they've started shrink-wrapping around the slips. While I've never gotten a release with a damaged slip from Amazon, one thing I absolutely hate is when peeling the plastic wrap off of a case, some of it sticks (near permanently) to the spine. Shrink-wrapping around the whole package thusly eliminates any possbility of this happening.

So are they going to use the original 35mm negatives for the Ginger Snaps restoration or what?

I don't own any Scream Factory blu's because i'm not region free, but what's the quality of their output? Do they go the extra mile like the boys at Arrow do or what? Are they likely to mess up this release of Ginger Snaps or is it likely to look the business? If they use the original negatives then theres very little they can do to **** this up.

If anyone at Scream Factory is reading this, please, please do not DNR Ginger Snaps. Leave it be. If there are debris and scratches, then ok, take those out, but leave the grain intact, make sure the colour timing is correct, maybe seek advice from the original cinematographer, Thom Best. Maybe scan it at 2k if you lot have the balls. Just be faithful to John Fawcett's vision. The sound should be good quality too I hope. I want that gothic theme to stand out and surround me in DTS 5.1. Dialogue should be crisp 'n' clear, easy to follow at all times. The film has snappy dialogue and that needs to come across.

Do this film justice Scream Factory and I will be a fan for life. Don't worry about the extras, it's the presentation of the film that matters most.

Scream Factory's transfers tend to be decent, the few discs I have of theirs all look pretty good (mostly 1980s movies). They're not in the criterion ballpark and they're not up to Arrow's recent stuff. I'd compare them more to early arrow releases, like "The Beyond" or something. I'd say they're better than the likes of Arrow's "Tenebre" disc. They look pretty good but they're not up to par with something like Arrow's redone version of "Zombie Flesh Eaters." They usually have some encoding/compression issues due to lower bitrate that bother a lot of people on these forums, depending on your setup you might not even notice. They're certainly light-years better than stuff from Mill Creek or whatever.

TBPH I don't think Ginger Snaps is exactly a lavish, high budget film that is going to look stunning no matter what gets done to the transfer. I love it as a movie, but it was very low budget. The HD version of it that's been broadcast a few times recently is probably what this transfer's going to look like. I am sure they won't make it look any worse, but I'd be surprised if they made it look much better.

Smile Ginger Snaps EXTRAS!

GINGER SNAPS was discussed on this week's Killer POV podcast!

Apparently Fangoria's Rebekah Mckendry moderated a commentary for the upcoming blu-ray release! She mentioned participating in a "panel" with other female horror-figures and discussing what it was like to be a (and I quote) "prepubescent female horror fan".

They'll no doubt also have other extras planned, but this was a very interesting "sneak peak" at what the folks at Red Shirt Pictures have in store for the Collector's Edition blu-ray.

EDIT: it's around the 22 minute mark of the newest Killer POV for those interested.

Seeing as you're not region free it doesn't really matter what Scream does with this release, as you'll not be able to see it.

Garbage Pail Kids would be excellent for Scream Factory.
It's so bizarre, and I've been having flashbacks of it for like a week. (And its MGM )

Uhh... no thanks.

The following quote seems applicable, even if it wasn't originally intended for this particular film.

Also, from the most recent Killer POV podcast that debuted today, they comment that, regarding Scream Factory (specifically refering to Shocker not being released), "unfortunately the door to those (Universal catalog titles) are closed for the time being"...

Hmmm. They are very close with Jeff and Cliff, and it's already been announced that there will be no more Universal titles this year. But that statement's a bit strange. Almost like universal (or possibly Shout) is specifically not wanting to deal with those titles at the moment, or aren't being given access to them? Not to read too much into it.

But those guys definitely seem to be privy to some "insider" info on the goings-on behind Scream Factory... So who knows? Also, no further details were given on Cliff and Jeffs next appearance on the podcast, in May. But that's when we should expect more, juicier, announcements.

Troll 2.
Manos: The Hands of Fate.
Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Need I say more? They're all on/coming soon to blu-ray. Atrociousness can be tolerated
And sometimes even prefered.
