I think Bill's actually referring to the posts on Scream Factory's page by the SF fans (very few) that were rude, in the sense that they were wanting Scream to take over the Code Red catalog, etc, and posts similar to that. Pretty much what could be construded as "code red bashing".

I'm guessing it's dependent on what Gary Sales, the film's producer/licensor, wants to do with the film.

I do not know why it looks like this, as according to Gary, this was the exact same HD master that is being used on cable channels. I did not have "hands on" approach on this project at all, so did not see the master after the fact, and did not have the Anchor Bay disc to compare it with. I will contact Gary Sales right now to find out the issues, as I instructed Duart to make sure this was to be progressively scanned, and Sales had to have told them numerous times when he over saw the project. Again, my usual authoring house did not do this title.

Nope, we check all our discs, but this one was so under the gun to avoid missing deadline, I was not able to locate the Anchor Bay disc for comparision between the two like you have, to avoid missing the deadline.

Again, we did not do the transfer, this was a HD master MonstersHD did for the producer for their cable airing as well for streaming.

Since the producer had full control of this DVD, he approved the master, and told me MonstersHD did the work, as they are known to do great work, and many here have said it looked great on IFC and MonstersHD, also I checked the finished disc, and as I said in a previous post that got deleted, did not have the AB disc to compare it.

At least Arrow Video doesn´t release their movies based on deadlines.
See the example for Tenebrae, who was to be released this Fall. They said that the restoration was not up to their standarts so they ordered another work on the film and pushed the date back to 2011.
Another example is their Martin dvd who was pushed back a week because the encoding was wrong, still some defective copies were released but they have a free replacement program without you even having to send them the wrong disc.
We all have deadline. Rights expires soon as you think and even studios have deadlines. I have been in the home video industry since 1988, trust me. when the rights owner wants it out one month before halloween, and he put it in the contract, it has to out asap. This why I let him Captain of the ship on this release since I am only a distributor.

This may be a lesson for future contract because as you can see the end product is not what the fans wanted. And as a distributor Code Red may get hurt by all this given the comments about low returns.

I think it would be good both for the fans and for Code Red´s image for the responsable for this mess to post some kind of explanation.
I just imagine the opinion of the fans that enter in the documentary when they see the finished product.
I should let you ALL talk to the MADMAN producer to make him feel misrable. Here's a man who turned down Synapse, Anchor Bay and others. It was his way, or no deal. I wish I never put out the dvd. I really didn't agree with all the terms, but THIS IS THE ONLY WAY FOR THE FILM TO COME OUT!

BTW, according to the producer this master was recently used by Anchor Bay U.K. No one in UK complained, no one in Monsters HD to Independent Channel complained.
as for "future contract", I have been in the entertainment field for many many years. Contract stated it has to be out one month before Halloween, it has to be out by that time. There is no "lesson" for me about "future contract", for I am ending the company in summer 2011.

be glad it's out, because it'll be gone soon!

He didn't turn us down... we heard what kind of deal he wanted and we decided not to do the deal. We turned him down, Bill. But, you are right... it was his way or no deal. His deal wasn't something we felt was a good deal at all, so we didn't bother burdening our company with his inferior master, his ridiculous timeline for release or his amazingly short term.

I learned my lesson a long time ago... you know what they say... Sometimes the best deals are the ones you DON'T make. Sorry to hear your experience was a bad one on this title. I know how you feel.

Eh, I'm not sure about this one. Madman is available to buy in 1080p HD on iTunes (don't get all excited, it's not a big improvement over the DVD, obviously the same master) but it's not released by Code Red on there.

Nothing turns me off more than NOT releasing anything for long stretches of time. The whining and moaning I can deal with, as long as there is product flowing. It's March and there's supposed to be a bunch of Blu-ray upgrades coming up. If this fizzles out then there's a problem.

From what I understand, it wasn't so much that Shout!/Scream was rude to him but more likely that the public reacted badly to the announcement (which if I recall correctly happened).

But that's Mr. Code Red for you; the guy's the equivalent of a kindergartner who bogarts all the best toys and then whines when someone calls him out on it. Then he whines and cries when someone calls him a mean name. And gets even more stingey.
Wow, I think that is just the wrong attitude to have from both parties (Bill @ CodeRed and the owner of Madman). Its bad for business and the film fans who may want the titles on BLU.

It couldn't be the other way around with Code Red fans being rude to Bill for selling off a couple of his titles. There are some big time die hard Code Red fans who dislike other studios

I just saw the pics for the German Re-animator & Bride, man , we need a re-release of the first and a release of the rest, Shout should also contact Julio Fernandez @ Filmax Spain, and get the rights to the Filmax Horror/Fantastic Factory titles!! Come on CMAC , you can do this!! Its not impossible..and while you are working on that , get me my Fright Night Part II allready!!!

(Just a rant)

Bride of ReAnimator and Society may be possible. ReAnimator is less likely for some time. However, it is owned by Stuart Gordon, so I am sure that once the contract expires may give Shout Factory a chance, given their treatment of From Beyond.

Looks great.

I can't remember anything about this flick, so I'll pick up this up soon. I take it this has some different art on the other side also?

I'd love an american release of Rec 1, the region free one is 50hz and all the bonus features are PAL so I can only play it on my computer

It's a bunch of 90's b-movie stuff co , some co produced by Brian Yusna, but I think most of them are all knee deep on Lionsgate mud.

Once released by Lionsgate:
[Show spoiler]

Also released by LG but under After Dark:
[Show spoiler]

Realeased under First Look (now Millennium):
[Show spoiler]

allready out on Blu through echo bridge/miramax:
[Show spoiler]

and also known for the (REC) 1,2,3 / Qurentine movies.

To me, i liked these type of cheese hoor films, they were not really good, but they were not horribale either. They are Spain's version of Hammer.
