In case anyone was wondering. Scream Factory mentioned on Facebook that there are no announcements planned today. Anyone for an announcement can probably go about your day.

Strange observation:

How is it nobody feels the need to offer a rebuke when the conversation at hand shifts to releases and business practices of other companies, yet discussion of Scream Factory DVDs and wishlists is strongly condemned on multiple fronts?

IDK!

It's weird, but I'm the kind of person that sees off-topic comments as "on-topic" because they are technically reled to Scream Factory blu-rays in some way, even if it's not directly having to do with them.

No clue, but I object.

I've bought two of their releases (the Sinbad films), and I will buy Crines and Misdemeanors next month. So far, they deliver on A / V, but I find their special features very lackluster overall.

TT is no worse than Olive Films in this department. I don't see why they catch so much flack. Must be price-related.

I have never purchased an Olive release that wasn't UNDER $15 bucks.

They know what they are selling and don't try to sell it for more than it's worth. (Well they do, but you can almost always find a dirt cheap Olive blu-ray).

Sometimes you can find a used Olive blu ray for 9.99 on ebay or amazon if you are into used. If it is used I look for *like new*

I agree it should be limited to 1

Even with Fright Night there was countless posts about how it was not worth $34+shipping but when it got closer to selling out a panic ensued and it quickly sold out with some buyers (scalpers) buying multiple copies. At the time I didn't think it was worth that and put it out of my mind, then when I realized it sold out, I was shocked. My mind set now is, grab it as soon as it goes up for pre-order, if it's something you will regret later not buying.

Lets face it, they are incompetent and I can't wait for them to go down. Arrow they ain't.
There's is a real hate for TT on these forums mainly because of Price and Limits, I don't care who releases it as long as it gets released. I would love Scream to get the rights to Fright Night, but to wish a company to go under just because you missed out is the silliest think I've heard, and to suggest they have no business selling blu-rays is even more ludicrous. I realize you are just frustrated at missing out, I missed out as well, all we can hope for is that someone picks these titles up. As far as I know Arrow hasn't licensed anything from Sony.

Yeah, just look at Monster Squad. Other than better cover art, what did the Olive release have over the Lionsgate one?

I think the answer to this has been that Sony will not allow them to produce new extras and since scream considers that a huge selling point they won't do it. Although I don't see why they couldn't go for some non collectors editions? Maybe I have sony confused with another studio though.

IIRC Cliff wrote earlier in this thread that Sony would not let them do their own extras and therefore Sony became uninteresting to them.

Regarding the potential of an Arrow release of any of Sony's titles, as someone mentioned earlier, it appears that Sony's European divisions do not sub-license. The chance is therefore practically nil.

Price and supply related. The releases are fine, but they don't match their pricing and release model well.

A shame no new news today.

Business practices of other companies, can affect SF to a certain extent.

There is a dvd forum
There is a wishlist forum

Obviously threads are going to stray off course a bit, that's just human nature...but I've never seen a thread, at least on this site, stray as much as the Scream Factory thread. Not even the Star Wars thread, back in the frenzied days. Just my opinion.

I agree, Horror fans are very passionate about their movies, and it tends to stray off course.

You're preachin' to the choir here.

I'm just waiting for: release date, extras info and preorder availability for Lake Placid(and a few others).

Lake Placid, is my most anticipated Scream title right now, followed by Ginger Snaps.

Believe me I share your frustration, and I know you didn't really mean it, we are very passionate about what we like.
