It edges out the first as my favorite.

I think it's a very good film. But Halloween is my favorite film, so, imo, it doesn't have that one beat.

Part 3 is has a lot of good things going for it. Music by john carpenter. A most excellent warlock who is intent on having a great festival of Samhain. Tom Atkins mustache! A ton of atmosphere and mood. Great masks made by Don Post. Lines like "you don't really know much about Halloween."

What's not to love? I have a hard time putting it above the first Halloween but like the other poster said I would put it in my top 15-20 horror movies of all time. Which makes it by far the best Halloween sequel.

The original Halloween is my favourite horror movie of all time; I consider it to be a masterpiece so I was never gonna think that Halloween III would be better, but having watched it in recent years I do enjoy it quite a bit. It's not my second favourite either though as I have a lot of love for 4.

My favorite Halloweens are
1) the original / first one
2)Part II
3)H20
4)the remake
5)Part 3
6)4,5,6 - all are at the same level to me - I have them but none of these 3 are that great IMO

Well the plan was to end the Michael Myers story with part 2, but keep the Halloween series going with various stories that take place on Oct. 31st. If that line continued and we had 8 different Halloween movies each with a different story I think it would have made perfect sense and felt right in with the Halloween title. Unfortunately it failed at the box office so we went back to Michael Myers, and now it stands out as the only Halloween film to not include him.

Either way, I agree with everyone else on here, it is a horror masterpiece, and definitely one of my favourite horror films, and films in general. I can't say I like it more than the first film, which is possibly my favourite horror film, but at the same time I have no problem with those that like it more, as it really is that good.

I'm glad to see after all of these years it finally is getting the respect it deserves. It's a real shame it took more than 20 years for people to be able to get over the fact that it doesn't have Michael in it, especially because it's much better than all of the sequels that do include him.

Would be great if Shout or another reputable company would finally release a quality edition of Halloween 6 Producer's Cut, if only so we can put this sad saga behind us. The 6th film isn't among my favorite sequels but that doesn't mean I don't want an ultimate edition with all the bells and whistles. Give us both versions and let us decide which one we prefer. Not sure if I would purchase the theatrical version again if that's what ultimately happens, though. Already have the Echo Bridge BD.

I love Halloween '78. That said, I don't like it as much as I should, as my favorite character is Loomis, who is absolutely wasted until the last five minutes. At least that's something that 2,4,5, and 6 all have over it. Not better movies, in my opinion, though (well, maybe 2).

The remake is a horrendous film. I despise it so much. Zombie just never understood what Halloween was or why Michael Myers was a great character.

According to Justin Beahm (who is writing the book on the series) this was a rumor and not really an actual plan for the series.

As Halloween III shows, it would have been cool if they did do different Halloween stories instead of beating the Myers story to death.

That's odd, cause i have seen the man himself saying this, and by the man, I mean John Carpenter.

and to add to that, STK, LLC was created by the Weinsteins, because at the time the film was made by Miramax Films and Miramax was under the Disney umbrella, and Disney objected to releasing the film under the Buena Vista distributions, so the Weinsteins did their usual lopp holethingy and created STK, LLC anddid a theatrical distribution deal with Lionsgate & home entertainment deal with Sony.

Scream Factory's August lineup is looking pretty amazing for me personally...
if you go to their facebook page you will in August
*mystery title*

I wonder what that could be
I know I was not the only one who noticed it - I bet its another biggie !!
Maybe something that used to belong to Echo Bridge ? or another big MGM title ?

I doubt Leviathan is the title that will really shock us. I really hope that was indeed a play on words and that we'll be getting Without Warning.

Stoked for Leviathan! However I am a little depressed as I just read over Scream Factorys release schedule and the only upcoming releases I'll be getting are Evilspeak, Phantom of the Paradise, Motel Hell and Leviathan...so not much on the horizon for me. I may get Lake Placid and Final Exam if they ever hit the $12.99 mark, which I doubt. I would get Slumber Party Massacre and Sleepaway Camp but I have the dvd sets and that's good enough for me for those films (again unless they hit a low price point, which again if doubtful). Really hoping theyre last announcement is going to something great. I was hoping for The People Under The Stairs but looks like i'll have to order the Arrow release (which is fine). On the plus side this atleast leaves me money to fill out my Scream back catalogue, I missed a lot of great releases when I took an 8 month blu ray sabbatical

That's how I feel - not much for me June and July - which saves money for August. Lack of stuff this month helped me get Halloween III also

the *mystery title* could be Without Warning - that would be the big shocker
A lot of people now feel Pumpkinhead is with them so the surprise value in that may have dipped.
Halloween 6 could surprise people who thought and still think its with Echo Bridge - the ones that don't follow rights and licensing basically.
