Does anyone think there is much chance "Leviathan" will be a CE? It seems doubtful as they usually say but it did seem from the announcement that it was very early days with this release. I think the movie would lend itself to some killer new artwork or tbh just a slip of the classic art like with "Psycho" 2&3. With the names involed with the movie i'd think it should be a CE but im biased.

Probably not. I think the only title that wasn't initially announced as a CE was Body Bags. Plus Cosmatos is dead, which is a pretty big deterrent for them. It seems like this movie should be "bigger" than Terror Train, The Funhouse, Prison, or Deadly Blessing, but I thought the same about Swamp Thing.

That would be great, I have held buying those until now. It would be great to see Halloween 6 get a 2 disc edition which includes the producers cut.

I don't think so. They debut the artwork with the announcement and it was just the Theatrical poster on a blu-ray case. (So, we can also assume it'll be blu-ray only?)

You're probably right but i don't know how "Leviathan" "SPM" or "Witchboard" don't get CE but "Ginger Snaps" and "Lake Placid" do, opinions ofcourse.

I agree, Leviathan should get the collectors edition. I also don't agree with some of the other titles under the collectors edition label but of course that is my opinion.

Warning, only half serious:

If I'm being honest, I wish none were CE's.

That damn cardboard is giving me a migrane. If I even think about having an oddball Scream blu-ray without one, I feel like I'm going to collapse. That's collector's OCD for ya'...

But I'd like them to continue with new art and the "Collector's Edition" banner... But for the sake of my sanity, please stop the slipcovers!

I have a big drawer full of slipcovers cause they make accessing the disc annoying and rarely add anything in terms of information or artwork. I think I've only kept ones like on "The Thing" (the anamorphic dvd version) or "Game Of Thrones" or something where it's part of the package and holds together a cardboard case. :/ The only reason I don't throw them away is in case I ever decide to sell the discs.

For those interested in the creative process of creating a Scream custom cover, SF shared an update of Nathan Thomas Milliner on Facebook about his Sleepaway Camp cover. It has a great explanation of how he worked on the cover, and even has photos of his earlier drafts he submitted to Scream.

You can find it on Scream Factory's Facebook page.

The main part of your post I disagree with it the "only half serious part".

I agree with the most of your post and I'm completely serious.

I still have no idea what a "Collector's Edition" is. I watch the movies and don't pay particular attention to fancy banners. I know some of these things come with slipcovers but since I throw them out with the rest of the excess packaging, I never really notice them.

I do wish Scream would do away with wasteful, annoying excess packaging and lose the slipcovers. That would end the hourly, "How do I get a slipcover/Does this have a slipcover/Why didn't I get a slip cover" posts from people too lazy to bother reading even one page of this thread.

This thread needs to be about Scream Blu-ray releases.

There should be a website for people who like to argue about boxes, banners and fancy designations.

I should see if I can buy domains like: "prettyboxes.com" or "easilydistractedby bling.com". Then I would set up forums...with each forum no longer than one page because slipcover buyers never read more than one page.

Not to start a long, unnecessary debate but to be fair, a release encompasses everything. The transfer, extras, and the packaging.

If Scream just released their discs in blank, cardboard sleeves, then yes talking about the release would just mean the disc itself.

I can see why people don't like the slipcovers, but I don't see Scream changing the way they do things because why change what works? IMO, of course.

I like slipcovers, if a release comes with a slip then i want it, if not it doesn't bother me. Never understand why people complain about them though just do as wooble89 does, sling em, or better yet put them on ebay and make some coin. simples.

Maybe it was easier for them to acquire/make special features for Ginger Snaps and Lake Placid than it was for the others.

Think its down to what they think will sell more and justify the extra expense- do think they get it wrong sometimes but its only a minor quibble. "Witchboard" was a stacked release anyway.

I wish SCREAM would release some limited Edition Steelbooks, they are a huge seller and have a built in customer base. I have a pretty large Steelbook Collection and am very annoyed that the best Steelbooks are UK only releases beaude I have to buy the UK steelbook and the US BluRay and am stuck with US packaging and a UK Bluray that I have no use for and they don't sell on ebay....Very Frustrating

Why don't you take the money you spend on the US non-steelbook editions and use that on a region-free player, so you won't have to buy the US editions anymore?
