I'm gonna revisit the first one because of this now too. Never seen the sequels and don't ever care to.

And by the way, look at that ad, whats with the $103.99 price tag in the bottom right hand corner? Is that what video stores paid to have this piece of crap?

Not sure if these titles have ever been mentioned as wants, but in the past week I watched two MGM MOD DVDs (phew...that's a lot of acronyms!) that would make for a perfect Scream/Shout double feature: 1982's "Still of the Night" with Meryl Streep and Roy Scheider; and 1980's "Windows" with Talia Shire. Both have a lot of similarities, and both are right in Scream's wheelhouse (hmm, screamhouse?) in terms of era and tone.

Loved them both; "Windows" is campy and creepy, and has at least one scene that you just HAVE to see. I doubt this would ever get a solo release unless it was some niche label; far better to put in a double bill with a lesser known Streep film (which I also dug...would sort of describe it as "PG DePalma"). A win/win!

C'mon, Cliff and Co...whaddaya say?!

Wishmaster wasn't too bad. It's better than a lot of the crap that came out in the late 90's and entertaining enough to waste a couple of mindless hours. I always thought Andrew Divoff was pretty decent as the Djinn.

Yep. That $103.99 is what the video store had to pay for each copy back when they had the VHS exclusive rental windows. It was possible for non-rental store people to buy them for that price if they had the means to purchase it directly from the home video distributor.

That is insane that this practice was still going on how ever late in the game it was when "Wishmaster" was released, I mean I know it in the 80's they were paying crazy prices like that, but well into the 90s when DVD was about to hit or already hit, damn. Then again they probably made that money back easy in like two weeks or whatever considering rental prices then aren't what they are now with $1 rentals or two-for-ones.

EDIT - "Wishmaster" came out in 1997.

I Love Shocker, Guilty Pleasure for me

Yea Wishmaster was fun and I loved it, Wishmaster 2 was good, still Andrew Divoff is great as the Djinn, but I haven't seen 3&4 mainly because Andrew Divoff isn't in them, like How I never saw Warlock 3, because Julian Sands wasn't in it.

I love Shocker, Hellraiser III, and Wishmaster. so...

I also enjoyed Wishmaster 2, if I'm not mistaken, isn't there a scene where someone wishes that someone else would "go f•ck himself"? And then the guy literally does, because that was his wish?

Wow. I sure don't remember seeing the movie advertised when I saw it. Just a bit misleading. I need to watch it again since I haven't seen it since it hit theaters.

I really do not understand all the hate for Wishmaster. I mean it is not the best movie ever made but it is very entertaining, if for nothing else but the Horror cameos.

Funny I was thinking about WISHMASTER and THE NIGHT FLIER (both 1997) the other day and wondering whether either had been released on blu ray. Both these films would fit in with Scream Factory's eclectic mix of horror titles.

I love Wishmaster! Yeah, it's schlocky as all get out but the cameos and Andrew Divoff as the Djinn make the movie for me. That voice of his...Phew, sends shivers down my spine.

Just that his trademark Evil Grin that's supposed to clue us that he's the djinn in disguise (at least in the first two movies, before the other cheap producers bought out the title) keeps looking like he's about to say:
"Hiii....I'M Joe Isuzu, and I own the company. "

I was searching on Anchor Bay's website and look:

http://www.anchorbayentertainment.co...?term=phantasm

They still list "DVD" for Phantasm III and IV, yet not for Phantasm. Perhaps someone got it...?

Yes. 'Twas discussed a few days back. I still must suggest something. Could this be the surprise title that was hinted at?
