The extras are mostly always good.

Apparently the German Blu-ray comes from the same master as the Scream Factory release, except it has had no further digital processing applied.

Judging by screencaps on caps-a-holic (which is a very reliable site regarding screencaps), I'd say that the German disc is probably the best way to go regarding PQ.

Example:

http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...ess=#vergleich

Notice the edge enhancement halos surrounding the buildings in the SF release then look at the German one. Also, there appear to be a lot of noise in the SF release, probably due to the artificial sharpening, while the German Blu-ray has a more natural and less processed look to it.

No. But it's not title that "everyone wanted" either.

I was referring to dsman71's comparison in my previous post btw.

There will never be a title that everyone wanted. Using this is simply colorful language.

I love capsaholic. Not just bc of the comparisons between discs but bc it proves without a doubt that *****ing about flawed blu ray releases transcends language. Lol.

Joshua Tree looks excellent to me.

They look like different masters to me. Not just in the framing (which is clearly different) but in the picture densities as well. Also, that German master is no great shakes. It may not have the digital noise from the poor compression of the Shout disc, but it's exceedingly soft, and looks too blue in the color timing. The German disc's picture has a very "80's video" look to it.

Speaking of quests - Id like to see if we can get Endless Descent aka the Rift its first ever official blu ray or DVD release .. anyone with me on that ??

I dont have to worry about Godzilla 1985 because when Toho can and will find a studio to license it when the current rights expire.

RIP Kate O'Mara. Horror fans may remember her from her work in The Vampire Lovers and The Horror of Frankenstein. You might also remember from Dynasty and Doctor Who.

I really got my hopes up that it would be be Pumpkinhead. I've never seen Without Warning, but I can get behind excitement of having a movie that has never been released on home video. Hopefully Pumpkinhead will come around the fall.

As it is, this will be an expensive summer for me. So far I've ordered and are waiting on Beneath, Cat People, Sleepaway Camp, and Ravenous. Definitely plan on preordering Lake Placid, Ginger Snaps, and Lord of Illusions. I'm on the fence about Dog Soldiers. If it is a new transfer, I'll bite. If not, I'll stick with the current edition.

And that's what's on Jon's mind for anyone that cares.

I don't think I've ever seen it, but it's streaming free on Amazon Prime right now. I'll give it a look in the morning.

Yeah it may look excellent to you but the issues are definitely there. It is good to see it in the proper aspect ratio and the extras with Dolph and the director were great.

Does anyone have any idea what SF might announce in May? There are still so many titles I'm waiting and hoping for them to announce.

MGM/UA titles seem like a safe bet and maybe another Fox title or two.

Don't ask that. We'll end up with another 100 pages of guesses next month.

Pumkinhead is coming to Blu this year. Either Shout already had it and is sitting on it for Fall (Halloween) or MGM is.
