Stupid or first visit since you joined in 2008 or just trying to be ironic/funny?

Guess I'll start looking at some reviews for the blu-ray, adding a pre-"Music of the Heart" Wes Craven title to my collection isn't such a bad thing.

I didn't know. It's not my favorite film, but it's big enough to have had some kind of DVD release by now. So, I guess I'm "stupid", by your definition.

My second-tier potential blind-buys would be the following..
- "Swamp Thing"
- "Eve Of Destruction"
- "Saturn 3" (which I can't imagine ever owning unless reviews were phenomenal)
- "The Incredible Melting Man" (see above comment for "Saturn 3")
- "Scanners II/Scanners III" (I've heard part III sucks, and no extras is a major red flag)

I do have a desire to own the "Vincent Price" set, I just haven't had the disposable income lately. Everything else, if I didn't mention it I own it, or just don't like it or even consider blind-buying it. I've seen "Death Valley", "The Island" and "The Nest", I just haven't figured out if I like 'em enough to purchase 'em.
I love SATURN 3 and that would be the one I suggest. The others you mention aren't all that great though I do like THE INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN but it's kinda dull at times. SWAMP THING is the PG cut so I'd stay away since I can already see someone else releasing the international version. I'm not a big fan but it's entertaining. To help make your decision regarding SATURN 3, check out this site:

http://saturn3makingof.com/

I also really like THE BEAST WITHIN. Not sure why it gets all the hate. If you like films like HUMONGOUS and CAT PEOPLE, then you should like it. I thought the ending was great and the film does deliver. No way is SWAMP THING better unless you're looking for an action film and not a creepy low budget horror flick. As I said, SWAMP THING is the PG version so who wants that?

There's a UK BD of BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW though I'm not sure if it's region free. You might look into it on amazon.co.uk.

Just a word of warning, the product titles for the Amazon.com listings that went live yesterday have been altered on the following Scream Factory titles:

Without Warning has been changed to future.
Phantom of the Paradise has been changed to nightime.
Motel Hell has been changed to frames.
Leviathan has been changed to doorknob.

Other Shout! Factory preorders for August, though apparently not all, are affected as well. These changes are not reflected in my order history, only on the product page itself.

I have a feeling the wrong set of titles went up for preorder yesterday. Keep an eye on your preorders. This may also be the reason why we have weird listings in the database for Shout! Factory such as Nelson's Hunger(Ravenous), The Ponce Pound(Dog Soldiers) and Ro Ro Tella(Hellhole).

Hmm. Leaning towards Exterminator 2, despite not having seen the first.

Pipe down.. I didn't mean YOU are stupid, I mean't asking or requesting that title is stupid since ALL of us, except YOU (I guess) know the odds of it being released anytime soon are not even slim, they are nothing.

This thread is about discussing "Shout!/Scream Factory" titles already out or in the pipeline anyway. I hope the days of pages and pages of wishlists are done.

You say this every time you come back. It's not going to simply go away. Part of the discussion is the discussion of possibilities coming from the future.

Some conflicting opinions here between members. I'm interested in "The Beast Within" to see how it fares as a werewolf film, since I am a big fan of that sub-genre and the release has a good amount of bonus material (Two commentaries? maybe some other stuff?) for a non-CE title. "Saturn 3" on the other hand doesn't quite grab me, but like "Beast Within" the supplemental package for the film that it is, is very good, but other than that the only thing in my opinion going for it in my opinion is the star names who are performing in it.

I'm aware "Swamp Thing" is the PG version which is why I'm extremely hesitant and may just never pick it up at all. All things considered I think my next blind-buys will be "Witchboard" and possibly "The Beast Within." But, I will do some more reading up on "Beast Within" and see what's on YouTube and if it's something I think I might enjoy.

Thank God, there's nothing coming out in April from "Shout!/Scream" that I want so I have some time to catch up a little bit before May where there's like atleast 4 titles I'm probably going to grab, including another blind-buy, "Evilspeak."

Hey dude, I'm not the only one who it bothers, my voice is just the loudest (or the only one you hear) when it comes to complaining about.

Here's what someone else had to say about it..

Some people get annoyed by it. But that doesn't change the fact that it is part of the discussion.

I'm simply saying it's nice that it seems to be over with for right now so, pretty please, can we just enjoy it right now. All this back and forth is just creating spectacle. I've said my peace.

The Beast Within isn't a werewolf movie. It's more like a giant cicada movie lol

Why? Swamp Thing was always meant to be PG. Those nude scenes were never in Wes Craven's original script. He was forced by the producers to film the nudity for foreign markets only. What you see in the PG version is what Craven intended to be seen all along.

People would be dying to get the PG cut of Swamp Thing if it had the "Director's Cut" banner.

So I guess, put the rating issues aside and tell me as a film as a fun movie, is it worthy of going after? Does it fit well within the Wes Craven canon? Fun camp is fine with me. I just don't wanna blind-buy a total piece of sh!t. Like can you tell this has Wes Craven's fingerprints all over it? Honestly, I don't even know the story with this film, I don't have a clue in hell how he becomes the "Swamp Thing!"

I do find it interesting that he did this film before "Nightmare..", but after "Deadly Blessing" and I love both them films. Yes, even "Deadly Blessing."

I really liked it. It was my first Craven movie though. It's really fun.
Of the ones I have seen, I'd rank it behind his two Nightmare flicks and the first Scream. It's about on par with Deadly Friend for me (and yes I really liked Deadly Friend).
Way above the Scream sequels, Cursed, Vampire in Brooklyn, etc. Slightly above People Under the Stairs.

I suppose a blind-buy is in my future for this one. Bash me if you will, but I enjoyed some parts of "Cursed", or maybe I just enjoy films with troubled productions.

As for "Scream 3" though, total crap. I've still yet to sit down and watch "Vampire In Brooklyn", but I can only imagine. I think it goes without saying that it's also better than "The Hills Have Eyes II" and "Music of the Heart" and hell why not "Red Eye" as well.

It's like there are 3 tiers to Wes Craven's career. Tier 1 - The Good. Tier 2 - Moderately Good/Okay. Tier 3 - Just Bad, It Sucks.

I thought Scream 3 was the most entertaining of the sequels.

I think its a lot of fun with the right expectations. It has its share of camp, but it never takes it to the extreme. If you're familiar with The Incredible Hulk TV series with Lou Ferrigno, this has a similar feel to it. It is a bit of a departure for Wes Craven as it was his first non-horror endeavor (the film is a mixture of sci-fi and action), but his trademark for creating atmosphere is well defined in the swamp scenes. Craven also brings back Last House on the Left star David Hess, who plays a mercenary that is hunting down Swamp Thing.
