It appears that attempts were made both to license directly from Miramax and to sublicense from Echo Bridge.

[Show spoiler]

They can't even decide what film goes with what and so end up releasing the same titles over and over in two, three and four packs. Some of them aren't even in their OARs! I hope they have a short contract and Shout can swoop in and rescue this library after they're done milking it.
They outbid us.

Well, we know "someone" has already gotten Halloween 6 (according to Synapse). The question is: Lionsgate, Scream or someone else?

This must be a sign the producers cut is on its way, no-one would pick up that one title out of the three halloweens at miramax unless it was! Whoever has this probably won't release it until next year with it being the 20th anniversary, i hope scream factory got all 3... Yes even resurrection, if only to have a matching slip

Have you seen the workprint? I'm not a fan of the theatrical version, but the original cut is nearly a different movie at almost two and a half hours.

I'd love for Scream to release the original Danish version with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

I've never heard if the workprint. What's the story there?

Just another Weinstein hatchet job. They took out almost an hour of footage, mostly character stuff and more explicit violence. The Joyce character also has a bigger role; it's much closer to the original film and also eliminates a number of plot holes (like how Katherine gets into the morgue at the end).

The copy that's floating around isn't very good quality (maybe a B- at best), but it's better than the frenzied theatrical cut.

I'll have to hunt that down. Cheers.

I also think they are waiting for its anniversary- and if it is true, I don't mind that waiting

Not to wet appetites or anything but imagine if Scream did get Halloween 4,5,6, H20 and Resurrection...

I would say a box set of those would likely happen or even possibly offer a box set with the entire series from 2 to Resurrection (same discs/extras as 2 and 3 just in a box set)

Now if only there was a way to get the FIRST Halloween to do a real anniversary edition and use some footage that Don May has

I only hope they can steer away from acquiring Dimension Films titles. Their catalogue is a big snoozefest. So many dreadful movies

Any label that wants the Halloween franchise bad enough should have a word with Malek Akkad - he's the one that controls the rights. I'm sure some deal can be worked out between all the different studios that distribute the films. No one should underestimate Akkad's influence over the franchise.

That is so true. I met the man a few years ago and he is very serious about the Halloween franchise. Nice guy too.

I would like to see them release those "Dimension Extreme" films. The ones, like, "Eden Lake", "Martyrs", and "Teeth".

Not to mention everything he has access to....talk about the Keeper of all things Halloween! Talk to him, I'm betting he'd pull strings to get any of his entries back out in the home video market (he probably knows exactly who should talk to who for each movie) and then work with whatever studio is putting it out afterward for extras....

I would wonder if Jeff and Cliff (or the Shout executives) would have any interest in those titles. They're quite a bit... different in tone than anything Scream has put out
