You're right about that, unfortunately. The series is used as template for all of these tween-aimed vampire themed films (and many current TV series) today, everything from Underworld to Twilight and from True Blood to Vampire Diaries. Granted, some are a bit bloodier than others but much of this stuff is pretty much all the same. I wish NEAR DARK would've been more successful back in '87 - this is where aspiring filmmakers should've gotten their inspiration from.

I would think a few other factors played a role in The Avengers being such a box office giant: 1) Existing comic dating back decades 2) Iron Man being a huge hit 3) Thor being a huge hit 4) Captain America being a huge hit 5) Hulk being a huge hit(despite a different actor each time) 6) The Marvel Universe in general |

The type of movies you're talking about are by the numbers blockbusters, geared to make make as much money as possible. That is not at all representative of what the show set out to do. Although I will admit the first season is pretty rough, so I can understand the people who watched a few episodes and didn't enjoy it. |

Let's not get too carried away. Serialized television existed long before Buffy adopted it later into its run and it was done better. Buffy is no Babylon 5.

"The Thread where people sarcastically ask what thread this is, and people respond with answers like "The thread where such and such", and then other people make fun of the fact that people are asking this, and then other people talk about other things that may or may not be completely on topic"
See this is why we should just tell DMRI2006 that this is the Scream Factory thread. It's much easier. |

It's been up.
US (listed as The Ponce Pound): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00INXSITQ/ Canada (listed as Dog Soldiers): http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00INXSITQ/ Both listings have the same ASIN and release date, and the 105 minute runtime on the US listing matches the Dog Soldiers runtime. Apparently, Amazon put the title up for preorder too early. Instead of deleting the listing, they temporarily renamed it. All of the August preorders are currently listed under aliases. |

Such a classic movie, Peter Jackson should produce more. The humor and over-the-top gore are great.
Disturbing Behavior is owned by MGM. Is there a chance Scream Factory might release it? It is one of my favorite '90s horror films. Last edited by SendMoreParamedics; 04-21-2014 at 03:35 PM. |

I can't wait for Final Exam from Scream! Just hope the transfer looks good.
I've always loved the atmosphere of a College Campus during semester finals. Everyone packing up, the departure of students at various times throughout the week, Students populating the library or dorm rooms studying, etc. Final Exam gets a few things right with this atmosphere, but it could have been much more atmospheric. I think it does get the feel of desolate Halls, dorms, and gymnasiums right. |
