I`ve got a 55 inch and sit about 11 feet away. In comparing dvds to blur-ay I`ve noticed quiet a difference in quality. Not sure how close people are sitting away, but any closer (especially in the dark) would really strain my eyes.

Bingo!
I've never heard of anyone with 100"+ screen claim a dvd looks better than it's BD counterpart.
That's just silliness, right there.

[QUOTE=theprestige85;9099659]Ah right. How many blu rays do you own overall then? I honestly thought that you collected mainly horror. I haven't seen a specialised list like that on blu ray, most people on here have pretty electic tastes.

i've not counted recently but its over 600.

Just got my "Phantom of the Opera" with Robert Englund blu ray in this morning, no extras so i will be undoubtedly be double dipping on the eventual us release- hopefully from scream.

I'd absolutely love Phantom of the Opera from Scream

I remember renting it as a kid thinking "wow, that Phantom looks like Freddy Krueger" lol.
I believe I was aware of who Robert Englund was at the time and wanting to rent it because of him being in it. And I knew what the Phantom was but being puzzle to find that he pretty much was just playing "Freddy of the Opera".

It'd be Freakin' Amazing to get a Double Feature of Phantom of the Opera / Dance Macabre (never on DVD in the US!)

I sit 10 feet away from 92" screen, works perfect for me. In fact with 3D movies I tend to lean forward so that the screen would fill even more of the view. I guess my setup would benefit from 4K projector, but I try to stay away from all 4K demonstrations as long as I can to avoid any temptations...

Wow, that is close for that size. I could get a few feet closer to mine if I wanted too, but not in the dark, my left eye gets really bloodshot.

TV and projector are probably different in regards of eye strain, because with the projector the light doesn't shoot straight to the eyes but is being reflected from the screen. I'm not sure about this, but I would assume it's a little more gentle to the eyes in that way. But on the other hand, with TV you don't have to turn off all the lights to watch a movie.

Universal titles are problematic for Shout. They work with what they're given and what they're given 98% of the time are DNR botch jobs, which then leads to endless moaning on these forums. It's probably the reason Shout decided to not license any more Universal titles. Personally, I could care less if they never handle another Universal title.

It's almost an annoyance to post here these days. What none of the people realize who quoted me, bombarding me with information, THAT I ALREADY KNEW, about what studio owns each property I mentioned, doesn't realize I'm just trying to get my point across that there are only so many big cult classics out there left to nab.

I was simply saying in 2015 they will have to go after some bigger heavy hitters like ones I have mentioned as EXAMPLES. I have Google for Christ's sake, if I didn't know (but I did) know which studio own which movie, it's a simple few clicks away for that information.

Point is here, is that every time, myself or anyone else mentions a title in whatever context we do not need 2-3 people jumping on our balls saying, "Oh that one's with so and so." Well thanks Mr. Google information for advancing the conversation SO much further by telling us all something we already know or could find out ourselves by going to Google or IMDb.

Calm the hell down. If you wanted these not to be pointed out, don't acknowledge the titles as potential titles Scream could release. Write something like, "they would have to go after the Warner Bros. Stephen King titles..."

It seem every time that you show up, you either get mad because people respond to your post or because they won't respond to your post.

They are the same people who get defensive about DVD, as well. It doesn't matter how good the film transfer on the DVD is, it will never be better than a Blu.

Last time I checked, this was a Blu Ray forum. I'm a film buff, not a Blu fanboy. Sorry, but I would rather watch a Blu on my 60-inch tv.

Now you know how I felt when posting my wish lists before, but still people are always going to be realistic, because they never want to get their hopes up for something impossible

To be fair I have difficultly finding who owns what on IMDb, some titles I found sometimes has two companies, one Scream is in bed with and the other won't return Scream's call (MGM and Warner ). But yea, you can always post a dream, but it should be posted as a I wish, and not Scream should get this, but then again, someone will always tell someone it's impossible, either way.

I thought it was common knowledge that Scream Factory can't license titles from certain studios. Sony, WB, etc.

All the movies I have requested are feasable, from Universal and MGM.

When I was a kid, I always dreamed of having laserdiscs, after seeing one in action in a electronics store. Unfortunately, I was stuck with VHS until DVD came along.

I like being able to have the best for a reasonable price, unlike back in the laserdisc days.

Not for newbies and some people don't have studio knowledge like some of us.

I'm the definition of a newbie. Having just got into Blu last December.

But, when I'm interested in something I try to absorb as much information as possible. I've been reading this forum for awhile, so I picked up on things.

Thompsonjohn doesn't seem like a newbie.

When in doubt about a biggie, go to WBshop.com and search for a title.... That's what I do.

In a thread like this where actual releases are limited, why would anyone complain about an abstract wish list? Are folks in here really so butthurt that if another member brings up a movie with zero possibility of release, they're entire world crumbles? Is this the Criterion thread or Scream...
