Anchor Bay getting them is literally worst case scenario. I hope Anchor Bay only does the box set.

Sure am glad that slashers are bringing companies together though. Warner/Paramount with Friday the 13th, Anchor Bay/Scream Factory with Halloween, and MGM/Universal with Child's Play. If ROTLD is next, I will be happy.
I just want Return of the Living Dead 3 uncut on blu. Already own the first and never cared for the 2nd.

You are probably right. I have NOES 1-3, it will be a long time until I buy the box set. Same with the F13th boxset, if it gets under $50 I would buy it. I have too many other movies I want. Yes, I am cheap and want to get the most for my money.

You should have jumped on the set last year. There were a few places that had it (with coupon codes) available for $60 - $70. After you sold the copies you already owned you could have had it for your $50 price point. Single releases won't happen anytime soon though, the first 3 were distributed by Paramount before Warner took over distribution for them. As it stands I think we still have a few years before rights revert back to Paramount. When the rights do revert back I'd expect we'll see Jason Goes to Hell Uncut along with the rest of the films as single editions from their respective studios (Warner & Paramount), although it is possible they could come before then to coincide with the New Friday the 13th Film currently in production.

Unfortunately, I just got into Blu-Ray last December. Being a late adopter has it's downfalls.

Totally understandable... With a little luck, maybe we'll get lucky and this year will be a good Autumn for Horror movie sales and The Friday Box set will see a sale. Last year was just so-so, but what it lacked in sales it made up for in big releases (Friday the 13th set, Child's Play set, Vincent Price set, and Amityville being the big ones that jump to mind immediately). 2 Years ago Best Buy had a really impressive section of $5 titles, so Hopefully this year sees a return to solid sales along with some new releases and maybe you'l be able to grab some titles for cheap.

Yes, I have found some great deals on Amazon Marketplace, except for those pesky Scream Factory titles. But I usually buy one expensive title and a few cheap ones so I get a nice balance of good deals.

I'm guessing Scream's announcement will just be a collaborative confirmation of the Halloween box.

Unless they were able to negotiate with Phantasm as well. No matter what to me it's a win win situation for us fans

I really think that will be the case. If it's true that they spent a lot of money acquiring Halloween 6, H20 and Resurrection, then you can imagine them doing so with the knowledge that they could use these in negotiations to acquire the remaining Phantasm films (should Anchor Bay still own the rights).

The box set sounds great, but I may have to pass as I'm unsure I need them all. I just bought the 35th Anniversary of Halloween. If anyone wants to sell their Shout! Halloween 3, send me a PM.

Im not too sure that will happen considering that Anchor Bay is releasing Phantasm 5, if anything we'll most likely see another joint venture boxset.

I would imagine Anchor Bay aquired that half of Miramax catalog, not Scream. And they didn't "sell the rights" to Halloween 2 / 3 because they don't own them. They just teamed up to do the set with both companies (and Sony) getting their respective chunk of the profit.

I wouldn't think they'd be able to just trade or swap titles that neither actually own. But this could lead to more partnerships in the future, and maybe some sublicensing from AB down the line.

A Scream Factory/Anchor Bay partnership could mean a future Silent Night, Deadly Night collector's edition blu ray as well.

I would love that movie on blu-ray. I still have to buy the original Black Christmas, too.

I'd go with the German disc, the encode/compression is superior to all other versions, even if the transfer itself is still average. You might not be able to play at least one of the documentaries though, if you can't view PAL material. There's also no original mono track, only 5.1. Here's the site thread for the German release if you want to check it out.

The American release is so cheap though. It is tempting.
