I hope that Paul Williams/Guillermo Del Toro interview is the same full 72 minute one from the Arrow release - if so I'm very sure I'll end up buying this one instead of the Arrow. Glad I held off till hearing Scream's announcement!

I find it amazing that some people on this forum prefer The Howling 3 and it's kangaroo werewolves to a genuinely well made, good movie, like Ginger Snaps. And honestly I'm starting to wonder if some of its not just bashing aimed at Prestige and to a lesser extent the film itself.

But I'm in no way saying you should or shouldn't like anything, but come on...
Agreed totally. I'd say the movie's more about the rather symbiotic relationship that exists between the sisters as social outcasts and how that gets changed when one of them starts to integrate with society. The werewolf thing is as much a metaphor for her breaking away from her sister as it is simple puberty. And then on top, it has the bodily and relationship decay theme of "The Fly" on top. It's got a ton of stuff going on, done mostly with quite a light touch. If you don't like it, fine, but yeah...arguing it's a crappily done movie and then holding up hastily written simplistic stuff like Howling III up as a superior movie suggests an inability to evaluate movies on anything other than your own personal reaction to them.

Again, I'm one of the people defending Howling III here as being a fun sequel and worth watching, but it's pretty indisputably a silly little diversion with very little going on under the surface. It's fine to like it more, but I'd like to see an attempt at a serious explanation of how it's better-made, haha.

I am overjoyed by the Arrow announcement of Shivers, by the way. I love Arrow's releases and I've bought a ton of them in the last year. That movie really couldn't be in better hands.

I was on the fence about picking up Phantom of the Paradise but with a special feature list like that it's hard to pass up.

Are there any Canadian's out there who know if there is an amazon.ca preorder up for Ginger Snaps yet? I can't seem to find one.

They don't own the Canadian rights to this one. Its one of the rare cases where Canadain and American rights aren't held by the same distributor they licensed the film from.

It was the same deal with Scanners II/III.

That's what I was kind of thinking but hadn't heard anywhere. Thanks for clarifying. I guess i won't be preordering Ginger Snaps, sorry prestige...

That explains why it seems to always be more expensive than the other Scream titles on amazon.ca.

They don't have access to as many films as say Scream or Criterion but their transfers of the same films that Scream release are far superior e.g Lifeforce.

Eureka's version of Nosferatu is also clearly better transfer wise too.

And I'm sure most people here have seen Ginger Snaps. And most people don't find it as good as you; get over it. Also, there is an interview with the writer somewhere and they even say it's a film about periods. Shock, horror.
If I am correct, I think he was more referring to the amount of labels and such.

He was hardly triading against Arrow when he was in agreement with my statement that they are the Criterion of cult. But as mentioned before, Screamput out more well know films, plus there are a lot more horror and cult focused labels in the US. Where as the UK only really has Secon Sight and 101 as mentioned, and also maybe 88 and Network

I would also love to see Burnt Offerings (MGM owns it) and The Changeling (I think WB owns it...if so, no chance I know).

There's a very good chance Twilight Time is releasing Burnt Offerings. Probably at the same time as The Blob.

I think Twilight Time denied Burnt Offerings within the past month or so. I wouldn't be surprised if Kino picks it up, though.
