Yes! Tales from The Crypt/Vault of Horror (Uncut) and Devil and doctors? happy day! these should be good with new extras and stuff like that.

The new Halloween set i'll get since it has the Producer's Cut of H6. I'll save up some money for it.

I'm so glad I was able to get in on the limited poster. I only ordered mine on May 24th so it was right before it finally sold out. Someone has already sold one on eBay for almost $40, crazy. Now to figure out the best way to store them. I can't stand to keep it folded like that.

I really regret not getting the one for the Vincent Price collection. I'm going to be buying them all from here on out.

Yeah i'm pretty stoked that we're getting that double feature on Blu-ray. I had it on DVD previously but of course Vault of Horror was cut.

Hellraiser Bloodline and Hellseeker were decent movies. And if Scream could get a hold of parts 1&2 and finally give them justice on bluray I would even go as far as buying an entire set with all the other crappy movies just to get those four. Well, Hellraiser 3 isn't so crappy, but I enjoy the other four more.

I've never even bothered watching any of them but the first one, and I love that one. Truly disturbing to me, just in every way. Are the sequels truly worth checking out?

The second one is considerably stupider but maintains some of the atmosphere and nastiness, part 3 is pretty much just plain stupid and almost totally abandons the disturbing stuff but is good splattery fun, they get worse from there. The first is the only one that gets any serious respect, basically.

H2 tries, and comes close enough to the elegantly disturbing kinkiness of the first movie, with Barker's touch for the surreal and Catholic-baiting. It helps that director Tony Randel is taking the whole thing seriously.
H3 started out with a kinky-elegant Barker storyline, but then New World went under, they had to sell it to a cheap Canadian company to finish it, and it's bad direct-to-video B-cable time, complete with attempts at "campy" funny lines. Imagine Wishmaster with Pinhead as the djinn.

H4 tries to finale the story on a direct-video B-budget (yep, you know it's a 4th movie when they go into space), but...oh, would that they had. You don't wanna know about the rest.

I'm thinking about ordering five Scream Factory titles directly from the Company. Anyone know where they ship their items from?

I actually thought H5 was a step up from 3 & 4 (4 gets credit for being ambitious, but it's just plain unfinished and broke - the director took his name off the final cut and understandably son). They make the wise decision to tell a much smaller story with their low budget and pull off a decent little DTV horror. 6-8 were dreadful, with 8 being the lowest of the low. 9 might've actually been a small step up, but only because expectations and standards were so low after the last few. It feels more like a decent fan film than a legit entry into the series; but considering how poor the legit entries had become it was preferable.

If Scream factory have picked up the Hellraiser movies hopefully we'll get the original cut of Bloodline which I hear was much better than the version released.

Again, it was stated thet Shout would be getting ONE single title to go toward a Box set. They couldn't have aquired multiple Hellraiser sequels if that's the case. And there's also no evidence that they worked out any deal with Lakeshore/Image for the first two, so really this is a far-fetched assumption.

It's also very likely the box set is a Shout Factory set, not even horror at all. So, who knows?

So I heard that Ravenous' blu ray release is really poor. Something about it being a DVD upscale. Does that mean that the next few releases in the next two months are likely to be the same???

Not an upscale. Just a very old HD master from the studio.

You should like no2 in that case. 2 is very much a sequel and like a few horror franchises it ups its game it terms of action. But like all, the original is the best. Part 3 is fun and comes away from 1&2. Bit like how Halloween 1&2 were and then three is a new story (although with Hellraiser is same characters & basic storyline)

These and others, namely Nightmare on Elm St start to follow suit. Hellraiser must have become popular enough for all the sequels and like NOES, the lead villain(s) become centre stage and the fan favourite, just set it different locations killing different people you don't care about.....we all like Jason and care cry little for Tommy Jarvis.
1-4 great and a constant decline unfortunately. I haven't bothered 5 onwards.

You don't think they'll use an old HD master for Ginger Snaps, do you?

Does it really matter if you don't have a multi region player.

I don't know. The DVD of Ginger Snaps looked much better than the DVD of Ravenous, in my opinion. So, I would assume that if they did it would look better than the Ravenous HD master.

After listening to the Killer POV podcast with Cliff and Jeff of Scream Factory, I understand better why they don't strike brand new masters for every release they get. It's nice when they do have a budget for it, but I completely understand when they use the HD master the studio gives them.

Then how about Godzilla vs. Biollante to go with Son of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla ? Maybe Shout made a deal with Toho ? Id faint

or maybe they wanted a title that wouldnt be with a franchise movie series, but maybe a director theme or a genre theme like a slasher set ?
Maybe it isnt even horror related ..we will find out soon I bet (i hope)

Shout usually works with the masters they are given, unless they are granted the budget to do a new transfer (like with Sleepaway Camp, The Fog and Day of the Dead). In this case, it's a really dated transfer (not necessarily an upscale) from Fox, for a film they were unlikely to revisit themselves any time soon. The exact same thing happened with Twilight Time's release of Titus. So no, one bad transfer does not mean that all transfers on the next "two months" of releases will also be the same quality.

The Ginger Snaps release will depend on the transfer Shout is given for that one. If it's a good transfer, then barring any further compression issues, it should be fine.
