Very much so! A Kickstarter-funded documentary on his life has just been completed:

Or does it have to be a drastically different version to be able to do that?
I think the main difference is Miramax owns both versions of Scream and has a deal in place with Lionsgate. Warner doesn't own Nightbreed, they only have the distribution rights to the original film. Morgan Creek owns the film and copyright, so there really isn't much Warner can do about a new cut.

I do wonder how long Warner has the home video rights though, Fox originally released the film in theaters and Warner on VHS/DVD. I doubt they would have signed rights completely over, but it has been over 20 years so maybe they did? Morgan Creek seemed to have a long standing relationship with Warner releasing a good deal of their films.

This is just what I've gathered through conversations online, I don't have any official knowledge of the matter, perhaps it's been covered here already?

Fox originally released Nightbreed on VHS as well. It was until the movie hit DVD that Warner Bros. had the disturbution rights. Fox lost the rights when Morgan Creek moved over to Warner Bros.

Didn't Media also release it on VHS? They had some deal with Media at the time where they would release sell through copies of CBS/FOX releases. Wild at Heart was another one of these. I think the set up may have been Rental copies were CBS/FOX then 6 months to a year later Media released the tapes to purchase.

I'm planning on ordering about 8 Scream Factory titles directly from the company. Did I read somewhere in this thread that you don't get slipcovers on some of their earlier titles if you order from them?

Slips aren't guaranteed with orders from them.

This could be. The one that I own is from Fox. I don't think there was anything with Media on it. I would check, but my VHS collection is in storage.

I thought the slips weren't guaranteed part was only referring to the movies on sale? That was the first time I've seen any mention about them not shipping slips. Typically that was always one of their biggest things they mentioned.... Order from us directly to ensure you get a slip, or something there about.

A while back (months ago) Scream Factory clarified they could not promise slip covers even through their site; it's been a rule since then on all orders.

Speaking of slip covers, I know Barnes and Noble is doing a 40% off sale now, and I'm aware that the scream factory blu rays they have in store don't have slip covers, but does any one know for sure if they'll have slip covers if you order online?

I got Sleepaway Camp, The Fog and Prince of Darkness during the b2g1 and got slips for all 3. I think with any of these slipcover issues it's a crap shoot though, so if you want a definitive answer you're probably out of luck on this one.

Staring with Cat People, Scream Factory have been shipping collector's editions with plastic over the slipcover. No one should really be having any hassle securing slips now

For the time being that's likely the case. The slips aren't included beyond the first print run however, so there will come a time down the road where it will be impossible to find the slips once they have been out for a while.

Yep, online. The Fog slip has some damage though, but the others are just fine.

And then maybe we'll stop hearing about them and get back to what really counts, the movie

The movie is obviously the most important part, but the packaging adds a lot of fun to the collecting aspect of it. If streaming/ downloading gets to be equal to Blu-rays, I will still buy Blus because I like all the fun aspects that comes with owning/ collecting Blus, whether it be slipcovers, reverse covers, limited editions, ect.

I don't think a slab of cardboard really adds anything to collecting, Id rather see more money spent on restoration.. Steelbooks however yes, to an extent, they are cool to have, not a requirement. Ive had too many slipcovers rip from taking the blu ray or DVD case to just watch the movie. Slips on girls are far more interesting to me
