I agree Scream Factory could score points widening it's focus... but from the start they were clear the label would focus on 1980s era domestic titles so anything more is just bonus.

I watched Leviathan yesterday. I was expecting crap but to my surprise it was a great B-movie! I think it gets crap for being a ripoff of Alien and The Thing, only underwater, but that doesn't bother me, I just love 80s creature flicks. This one had good production values, effects, and some occasional suspense. It has some recognizable faces of other 80s films. The ending is just hilariously amazing. Will be getting the Blu-ray for sure. Surprisingly, the video and audio quality was extraordinary for a TV broadcast through Encore HD, about like an average quality Blu-ray. Hopefully that means the transfer will be good quality.

Lord of Illusions is a possibility, I guess. It was pushed back only because they needed more time on the transfer.

Dog Soldiers has been postponed due to rights issues though, which could take awhile. And with Hellhole they are still searching for a proper uncut print to use. Both could be quite awhile before they see release and I'd be shocked if either ended up as 2014 releases.

Something else to consider, whatever titles from the 60s and 70s Scream passes on, they could wind up coming from Kino Lorber. I think Kino could be the studio that gets more of the pre 80s films.

My hunch is Scream has Empire of the Ants, Food of the Gods and Tentacles(but take it with a grain of salt because this is just speculation)

I heard through two friends of mine that one of the Yorga films is with TGG and when the rights expire it will get licensed by some studio to go with the other as a double feature. Twilight Time is considering them as mentioned on their Facebook page. Again all rumors except for TT expressing interest in them.

I think eOne Entertainment probably inherited the film's copyright when they acquired Alliance Films. Sony might still have US home video rights to the film, but it's hard to say for sure, since the film has been out of circulation in the US for roughly 20 years.

This is definitely a possibility for the non-Price/Poe titles and the definitely the more sci-fi-ish stuff. Possibly even the Blaxploitation titles, though I'd really love to see Scream Factory do the two Blaculas and Sugar Hill to spice up their collection a bit.

There are enough Price tiles left for Scream to do two more volumes and the two remaining non-Price Poe titles would make a great double-feature for them, so I think they'd want to lay claim to those if they haven't already. I'd love to see them do Dunwich as well, but if they don't, Kino surely will.

Basically, when it comes to the pre-80s stuff, we're good to go one way or the other.

Wow, Dog Soldiers is being moved back almost 16 months!! I knew it was getting pushed back, but I didn't think it was being pushed back that far.
I hope it still happens, as I was looking forward to this SF release.

Edit: DOH! I just saw you typed "or", not "of". I feel much better now.

A little gutted "Monkey Shines" won't be a collector's edition, think it would have lent itself for some killer artwork still just thankful its coming. Wonder what the chances of a Romero commentary? i met him the other week at the London comic con and time has caught up with big George sadly. An absolute gent though he was.

Empire of the Ants, Food of the Gods and Frogs would make a GREAT Triple Feature, if Scream Factory ever decided to go that route.

So there is: Shout! Factory & Scream Factory.

How about Sword Factory for the Fantasy/Sword & Sorcery genre?

That's actually not bad and I'd love to see a fantasy line from them.

I think it's kind of an overlooked genre. Probably not as many fantasy fans as horror, but I would like to think enough to warrant a label?
Anyway, food for thought.

Empire and Food I could see as a double, as they share a director and are both based on stories by HG Welles. Frogs would be the odd man out.

***UPCOMING RELEASE UPDATES!***
Good morning everyone. We have some various updates on upcoming titles that will be of great interest to you so without further ado...
- We've had a lot asked when Amazon will restart pre-orders again for NIGHTBREED: THE LIMITED EDITION in light of that we were able to increase our number of units. We've been told any day now.
- THE DOCTOR AND THE DEVILS blu-ray streets 11/4.
- DOLLS (COLLECTOR'S EDITION) blu-ray streets 11/11. Artwork to be revealed soon!
- THE DARK HALF blu-ray streets 11/18.
- MONKEY SHINES blu-ray streets 11/18.
- Good news: Clive Barker's LORD OF ILLUSIONS (COLLECTOR's EDITION) blu-ray is now scheduled for Dec of this year. No other details at this time.
- Since we announced NEW YEAR'S EVIL on Blu-ray this past weekend at Comic Con, we've had several fans ask if we are going to be able to get this out before New Year's Eve 2014 - which would be ideal of course. Unfortunately, despite attempts to do just that, we will not be able to have this land in Dec. Early 2015 is the plan.
- HELLHOLE is still in a "hellhole". We are trying are best to locate usable elements and there are surrounding legal issues too. We are still trying for 2015. We regret announcing this so soon without having all the ducks in a row and for that we apologize.
- DOG SOLDIERS is still planned for 2015. Date though is still TBD.
