I'm inclined to believe that Shout has licensed a boatload of movies for release well beyond 2013. The words "many more" were thrown around message boards all over the net, so hopefully that translates into dozens of titles. I also hope Shout has more than just horror titles in the pipeline - there were many action films produced that bordered on exploitation from Cannon alone.

I'd love Enemy Territory and Sonny Boy but I can't see them coming out in the Scream Factory line at least.

Shout haven't announced any MGM titles that aren't part of the Scream Factory line, but I'm pretty sure Cliff had mentioned that the MGM deal wasn't strictly Horror films.

I believe you're correct. I think it's pretty likely we'll be seeing "Rolling Thunder" in the future as a non-horror title.

I've seen things like The Video Dead, From Beyond, the Phantasm films, Halloween films, all the biggies that they've mentioned, but some of them just have me interested.

People were spoiled by Scream Factory by getting five excellent releases back-to-back. They've started with a huge boom, but I worry that after these releases that there won't be as much hype surrounding SF. Releasing all five of these films in a row doesn't really leave much room for improvement, as far as what they've released thus far. Maybe it's because they got started in Autumn and don't want to release too many of the good titles they have until next year, but their five best titles they have announced will all be out before 2013.

The films released after 2012 aren't nearly as good as this first batch, IMO.
Scream! Factory isn't about listing "A-titles". Its about the cool obscure stuff that genre fans actually want.

So far everyone theyve said was on my want list.

If they were to release the likes of Rolling Thunder and Dark Angel (I Come In Peace), would they be under a particular banner? I still think Action Factory would work well.

I doubt they'll release them under a specific banner, they'll probably just treat it as another cult release the same way they handled "Fear City", "Death Watch", "The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea", etc. But, ya never know.

I agree, for horror films there is a certain market, its not like there isn't for other genre films, its just that horror films have their own massive following.
I just think that Shout is already the label for cult movies, which would include action films. I'm sure that they'll just get put out through Shout! factory. And honsestly, we can't get a specific label for every genre - then there's no need for Shout Factory at all... At least good movies like "Rolling Thunder" are coming at all...

SF isnt just about releasing obscure movies, its about making money to stay in business..so while we get some first time releases which is great for fans of their business, some of those titles arent going to pay the bills, which is why movies like Melting Man , From Beyond, Vampire Lovers have been announced and I think we will see the Fog, the Howling, and I still believe Without Warning is possible. They have to release what is generally thought of as A releases in the genre so they can make money, purchase more movies and stay in business. We dont want them to become Code Red we want them to be the Genre side of Criterion

To your point, there are still several bigger genre movies with no release on Blu or a decent release that they could really rack up some cash on from more casual fans. They are building a strong loyal following the right way

i'd say most well versed horror fans will think its about time Hospital Massacre and Schzoid were released and i think thats the point here,Cliff and the folks at SF are horror fans and the eclectic titles they've annouced prove that.

The people buying the Scream! factory dvds are collectors and even casuals will be drawn in by interesting genre titles and art.
Personally I think too many big titles that have already been released waters down the brand.
They've been smart in announcing stuff thats recognizable and wanted along with lesser known films.

:-) best of both worlds

Well, in relation to They Live, H2, H3, etc., those are A-titles for this company. Huge sellers.

Most the titles announced since then? Not so much. They can only do what they're given, but these aren't titles like early 2000's AB or Arrow Video's recent titles.

Trust me, I'll probably buy every SF release, but a lot of those early AB releases reached out to other viewers, as would They Live, H2, and H3.

It's great these are getting releases, but outside of the genre fans, they are going to be a hard-sell.

I imagine any non-horror MGM titles will simply be under the regular Shout Factory schedule like some of the recent non-horror Universal titles (Sometimes a Great Notion, The Seven-Per-Cent Solution).

BLUE LIGHTNING, a TV movie with Sam Elliot, and CAST A LONG SHADOW with Audie Murphy, are MGM title and Shout announced those recently
