Looks like Motel Hell got a crappy review on here.

I watched it earlier. I've never seen it before and thinking about it now, it did look a little.....off. Not sure what exactly the issue is. I don't notice the compression issues so it's not that. It did look dark in some places but I think that's intended.

Doesn't just about every Scream Factory release get a mediocre or poor review here?

And since this thread is going to turn into a compression discussion anyways I'm curious to know what kind of display most people use when complaining about the compression problems. Something I've noticed is that My cheaper LCD displays tend to show all sorts of problems related to compression, however when the exact same movie/file is viewed on my much higher quality Plasma, none of these same issues seem to ever appear. I've often wondered how much of the supposed Compression problems people are seeing aren't somewhat related to the displays they're using as opposed to the transfer. A poor display can make a mediocre transfer look poor as well. Just like a solid display can actually make a transfer look better then it's reviewed. At this point I skim the reviews out of sheer curiosity, but really don't let them hold much weight anymore.

Looks like it's a StudioCanal title, so it's probably a title that Lionsgate's sitting on.

I hear you, I don't notice any problems at all, when people compare these things, but like you said, maybe it's the TV and the disc

The compression issues/artifacts aren't as noticeable on smaller TV screens.

I still may get Motel Hell, it's a fun cheesy horror movie. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good transfer for Leviathan.

don't know if it has been stated yet, but the Nightbreed Limited Director's Edition is back up on amazon, albeit more expensive than the first 5000 allocation.

There won't be more than 5000 Nightbreed limiteds pressed; Amazon is probably just expecting more stock from that allotment.

I thought Scream moved it up to 10,000. That's what it says here, https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Night...lu-ray/107559/

I was shocked to see Motel Hell got a 2.5 in PQ.

I watched it the other day and thought it looked pretty damn good, not perfect mind you, but pretty damn good.

Oh well, everyone has there thought about things, it's what makes the world go around.

I agree, I for one don't see these "compression" problems people are talking about. I have the Arrow release as well as the new Scream release and I for one can't see any difference in them. Both look good to me.

I think they may have been from VHS releases.

I can't believe that they can't find at least one decent copy.
Paramount has a pristine HD master for this that has aired on MonsterHD several years ago.

Can someone name a few SF titles with the worst compression problems? I want to inspect them for myself.
