With that said, I'm not sure if this totally applies, but a lot of Screams titles are lower budget, 70's/80's movies. Some of these films may never look great because of what they had/could afford to work with at the time. So I give them some leeway. As far as Ravenous, I dunno what happened there.

With Nosferatu, I've seen the original so many times and own the Kino blu ray (which the pq is quite good I think), that I subconsciously forgive the lower video quality a bit because I don't expect it to look great.

I wish we would get Shadow of the Vampire by someone
For sure, I love that movie. Fingers crossed.

I do admit in a lot of the reviews of Scream Factory discs, the reviewer does mention some compression problems, but almost every time the disc gets a very good score on PQ. It's a rare occasion for a SF release to fall below a 3 in a professional review. And I agree with the reviewers here, that although a lot of the discs have compression problems, almost all of them still look good. I know Scream is no Arrow, in terms of transfer quality, but I'll take their mixture of output and quality any day. If they keep releasing the discs, I'll keep buying them.

Also, this site gives a higher score to Scream's release of Phantom of the Paradise (4), as opposed to Arrow's release (3.5). Although both are very good scores!

The one thing I don't understand is that when a reviewer gives a SF disc an average score, a lot are quick to point out the average transfer, but when a reviewer, in some cases the same reviewer in the average score review, gives a Scream disc a very good to great score, some accuse the site of being pro-Scream.

not sure what you're talking about here. I was stating that I could live with the problems of the blu-ray since I only bought it for $7

In all seriousness though, I do love Scream Factory. A huge chunk of my wishlist for movies to come out on blu ray has been fulfilled by SF. Sure some have had some issues, but maybe I'm just not as picky as most (not meant to be derogatory, I don't fault folks for wanting the best quality presentation when they are paying at least $20 for a movie). I'm not even interested in Motel Hell so I don't really have a horse in the race. I thought my 2 most recent SF titles (Ginger Snaps and Lake Placid) looked great. I know some folks took issue with Ginger Snaps but I didn't notice anything when I watched it other than I hadn't ever seen it look so good.

I really abandoned DVD so I'd rather have the movie with some sweet new special features and the reversible cover art then not have the movie at all. Of course, they aren't free, so whoever buys them is certainly allowed to voice their opinions.

I found a like new copy of Terror Train at a local mom & pop music/movie store the other day for $10 bucks. They had 2 in similar condition at that price. It's a blind buy and I haven't watched it yet. Mainly picked it up cause I thought it was a good deal for a Scream Factory collector's edition blu ray/dvd combo. Neither had slip covers.

If anyone out there is interested in the other one, I'd be happy to swing by, pick it up if it's still there, and send it out for the cost of the postage & the $10 for the blu ray. I dunno if that sounds like a deal to anyone. I can just never find them used for around $10.

Terror Train is a good mystery/slasher flick. $10 is a great deal for it. Enjoy.

I've ventured a lot farther down the Scream Factory rabbit hole than I thought that I would.

My Scream Factory collection to date...

[Show spoiler]Assault on Precinct 13
The Burning
Cat People
Deadly Blessing
Deadly Eyes
The Final Terror
The Fog
The Howling
Lifeforce
Night of the Comet
Nosferatu the Vampyre
Prince of Darkness
Saturn 3
Sleepaway Camp
Swamp Thing
The Town That Dreaded Sundown
The Vincent Price Collection
Without Warning

A big wave of 1980s nostalgia got the best of me over the past two months, and I've purchased the majority of these titles during that time frame. It's been a real blast to see some B-movie goodness that first caught my eye during childhood (Saturn 3, Sleepaway Camp, The Howling, Deadly Blessing, etc.). I'm happy to report that these 1980s flicks hold up a lot better than I expected.

I'm pretty content with my collection right now, but there are a few Scream Factory titles that I still plan to grab if I see them for a good price, namely Terror Train, and The Island. Maybe Death Valley as well, because I liked it during childhood, but I'm still on the fence.

Count me in for The Legend of Hell House, Pumpkinhead, and The Vincent Price Collection II.

I keep getting reeled in, because I love the overall presentations with these releases. It's fun to see these throwaway popcorn movies get so much loving respect.

My favorite across the board is The Vincent Price Collection. This Blu-ray package is a class act.

My only (admittedly minor) complaint with this set is how the films are not presented chronologically. I asked them how they decided how the films were laid out and even they didn't know the answer. First world problems I know.

It just has to do with what they can license from the studios ..or what the studios offer them, and what they can afford to license.

terror train is fantastic, and you can't go wrong with Death Valley, what with peter billingsley running around, not shooting his eye out

That's odd, I heard Herzog was involved in the remastering. What was wrong with it?

HD masters - The ones released first had HD masters, the unreleased ones need to be remastered.

I prefer SF's Halloween 2 to Universal's.
I prefer the Universal one, no DVNR and a great extra "Terror in the Aisles".

Yeah I get that. But with Volume 1, I would have preferred House of Usher with Pit and the Pendulum on disc 1 for example. Like I said, it was a minor point.

Exactly why I'm not selling off my Universal (uncorrected) version of H2!
Its gorgeous-er lol. And has Terror In The Aisles plus the incorrect "Universal presents" opening. its a collectors item imo. But the Scream Factory exclusive TV cut and Extras are killer!

But if anyone wants to purchase Halloween 2 or Halloween III: Season of the Witch they are in great condition with slipcovers! And I'm selling them in the link in my signature down below.

Thus far, I've only missed two releases I still have to get (Death Valley and Deadly Blessing). Technically, I've also missed Nosferatu: The Vampyre, but my copy of Shout's Herzog collection arrives today to remedy that. Hopefully, before the end of this year, I'll have a completely up-to-date Scream collection.

The ones I'm holding out on until I really have enough money to "complete" the collection:
Death Valley
Swamp Thing
The Town that Dreaded Sundown
Dark Angel
Leviathan
The Funhouse

Always enjoy looking at pictures of Scream Factory collections. I never see any Shout Factory titles together with Scream Factory, though - are those not worth including? Some of the best stuff IMO is from the regular Shout line: Damnation Alley, Fear City, Joshua Tree, Cassandra Crossing. Then you have all the Corman stuff, including some cool DVDs. Come on people, show us your COMPLETE Shout collections
