Sure maybe Scream Factory is the only US company with the budget to put out these many, but I can tell you right now there are many companies that would want to put all these out, and overseas companies doing an even better job.

As for the two listed above, compare the German release and US release of a Prince Of Darkness to see the digital manipulations, and Lifeforce, whilst mostly good, had some minor compression artifacts in the red, which are completely absent in Arrow's release. Not to mention both cuts in 1080p.
I think you made an interesting point here. There are indeed many companies in the UK and elsewhere that would be happy to release these. Sadly, in the US all we really have is Shout (and Synapse, but they seem to release far fewer releases than Shout). Synapse really releases top-quality stuff though. Shout just isn't trying to address these issues. And sadly they are the big player in the US for these types of releases.

Overall, I am pretty pleased with the results of THE FINAL TERROR (considering what they had to work with), but one thing that really bugs me is... being that the print remastering is converted to digital, what is stopping Scream! Factory from correcting the color timing to be consistent throughout the film as well as stabilize the shaky frames?

Same thing with HOUSE ON STRAW HILL... frankly, there is absolutely NO reason for the "yellow-blue" shifting that pulses throughout that film when the entire film has to be dumped onto a hard drive before creating a digital file to burn/press onto a blu-ray disc. Add onto that the professional color timists like KingKong650, Dark Jedi and Adywan/ Adrian Sayce (to name a few) who have done fantastic and professional color timing restorations on a consistent basis, why can't these companies hire these guys (or someone similar) to do what they have plenty of experience doing quite well?

Not true. There was a german dvd that had footage not in the Scream release. Also, it played on MGM-HD and it was available via the grey market for years.

WITHOUT WARNING looks like dvd-quality? Umm... not even close. Are you sure you didn't watch the dvd? It's from the same source as what was on MGM HD and looks just about as good as it can look.

There were plenty of European VHS releases, which is where the transfer from the German DVD came from. No "real" DVD of it, though, as in: nothing based on a transfer that was newer than the telecine done back in the 1980's. The transfer shown on MGM-HD, which the Scream BD is based on, marks the first occasion anyone has bothered to re-transfer it in 30 years.

And as the legal status of the German DVD is somewhat controversial, the SF BD is possibly the first official release on digital form.

Now this is funny because I did the same thing at first with NIGHT OF THE DEMONS. But even then it looked decent. Also, I was a little drunk so it didn't bother me too much at the time but when I went to take it out, I noticed I had played the DVD version which made me happy because the blu ray looked excellent.

Well, for combo packs, Shout does put the DVD and Blu-ray on the wrong side of the case. One of the first things I do when opening one of their combo packs is swap the blu-ray to the right side of the case and the DVD to the left.

The Legend of Hell House is listed on Amazon for $15.89, if anyone is interested.

I just placed an order for this Blu-ray, along with Black Sunday, Roger Corman's Piranha, and On the Beach.

I grew up watching The Legend of Hell House, so it'll be a good title now that I'm caught up on all of the existing Scream Factory Blu-rays that I want to own.

I'm tempted to go for this thru Amazon as I'll likely receive it quicker as opposed to buying it from blowitoutahere or somewhere else but that $15.89 will turn into $22+ when taxes and shipping are factored in. Eh, I'll just be patient and save a few bucks

I don't know if any remaster would get rid of the haze that permeates the film since it's probably inherent to the original cinematography but it certainly would look better in high-def. Anchor Bay probably still has the rights.

I just finished watching the blu ray and I thought it was an excellent movie. Jack palance and Martin landau are perfect in this movie. Really cool to see another movie besides alone in the dark (a movie that is near the top of my blu ray wish list) with them in it.

Without warning and the final terror got a lot of hype as these great unseen horror movies. Neither disappointed. I did think without warning was a little better though.

After seeing the picture of the alien on the back cover of without warning I was a little worried that the monster would look hokey but I felt it was rather creepy in action. In fact as I'm sitting here listening to the extras, the producer says he paid rick baker 19k to make the alien head. I had no idea rick baker was involved (even if it was just the head).

As for the PQ sure it wasnt a 5 star restoration but it looks rather good for what it is. At times it looked kind of faded and the colors didn't quite pop but it wasn't terrible at all.

The scene with the first reveal of the alien in Without Warning is amazing, just amazing.

The swinging lamp, the music box, the tribute to Hitchcock's Psycho, etc... It all comes together so well in that scene.

It's goofy and fun to watch. Some of the FX will make you laugh they are so bad. The blu-ray is great and the cover art is sweet. I like both sides so much it was hard to pick which one to keep on the front. Hope you like it.
