Your playback problems are because the film was interlaced at 50 hz, which is a European standard. Some US players and televisions do have compatibility with 50 hz material, but many (including most, maybe all, Sony players) don't regardless of region coding.

Just watched Evilspeak. Quite a goofy flick, but about what I expected. Going through some of the extras and holy crap, those 3 extra interviews are the poorest quality yet for Shout/Scream. Seriously they appear to have been shot on a frickin' webcam. I'm fine with the movie the way it looked on BD, tough to expect a pristine/beautiful transfer for a film that doesn't have too much of a following and the cost to fix is high. But these are newly created extras.. C'mon..

You should have opened with "I don't wanna sound like a queer or nothing, but..."

Huge missed opportunity.

I think it's the same with the extras on Final Exam, Scream factory didn't create them they just ported them over from the previous dvd release by Code Red.

Wrong. They only ported some extras. the rest were new/not available on the Code Red (or Scorpion) DVDs, like the BCI (I believe?) commentary on Final Exam.

Unfortunate news to report today but we have exhausted all avenues looking for the footage missing from our film elements for HELLHOLE--the 1985 Women-in-Prison thriller-horror hybrid that we announced back in January of this year. Unless a collector comes forward with a good print of the film, we are unable to release the film in its original theatrical cut as we had hoped.

We sincerely regret getting hopes up for the fans this cult film has (believe us when we say we're personally bummed too). In hindsight, we should have waited until we had a clear understanding of what shape the film was in beforehand. Lesson learned.

If anything changes and we can reverse course, we will let you know immediately. Again, our apologies.

Does not say it isn't happening. Just not in the theatrical presentation.

It's so sad, that Hellhole has been Postponed Indefinitely (though they did say, if they manage to find the elements it will come back on the release schedule) it's at times like this, were I'm glad for hoarders and people who collect everything and throw nothing away (yea sure garbage is not good or healthy) but, I'm talking about stuff like VHS tapes, film reels and such, something that could be worth something in the future and could help others, I really do hope we can find someone who has the elements,

quick guys hire every P.I. n the planet

But seriously, this is sad news

Just watched Motel Hell and I thought the video looked pretty good. I used to have the Arrow Video version and I couldn't tell much of a difference. I also think SF did a great job on the special features. I don't really get all the hate for this title.

Well there is a VHS rip of Hellhole with the Columbia Pictures logo in the beginning on Youtube, so Shout! might want to contac Sony to see if they have anything in their voults.

I would contact Bill Lustig, he collects movies on film for his theatre, also QT collects a lot of B movies on film, he may have a copy of it as well.

Those are my first thoughts.
Good luck on your quest Cliff.

I didn't hate it. Just wasn't one of those I grew up watching. I didn't see it all the way through until last month. It's alright.

I think that's the case for most films released by SCREAM. If you are around 30 and grew up a horror fan and was lucky enough to have started watching that genre at a young age, then more than likely you'll love most of everything this company releases.
