Not sure if anyone saw this or caught this but regarding new title announcements :

Scream Factory Sorry no - maybe some in Sept but the goal is to have several in Oct. We are done announcing for 2014 however.

It looks like the schedule for 2014 is all set. December looks quiet but it has Tales from the Crypt/Vault of Horror to make it a fun month anyway

So that's 40 releases for this year by my reckoning (42 if you count different versions of Halloween and Nightbreed). And even then I've counted the double features and multi-film collections as one here, so it's probably something like 50-60 productions in all (I use the term productions because there's a TV series in there). Last year it was 36 releases (39 if you count the DVDs), and probably about 45 films in all (closer to 55 with the DVD films added). That's rather impressive.

I wonder if we can expect a similar amount if not more next year? If so, can the line realistically continue at this pace for much longer, given the avenues open to Shout? A new deal with Universal would certainly help.

Thats one possibility, there are still more titles out there.. maybe they can do HD masters for some titles on those 4 movies for you DVD packs.. (The Lamp, Contamination 7, Cellar Dweller) .. Titles from Fox that would be good fits are the Fly II , Omen IV. MGM has Empire of the Ants, Food of the Gods that seem to fit with their other releases... Universal is certainly an avenue they can revisit ..or they can seek out some independent non larger studios' horror titles or just try to get the rights to something thats been elussive like Phantasm or Dawn of the Dead

I can think of at least another 30-40 MGM titles I'd like to see released, but once that avenue is exhausted I'm not sure where Scream would source the bulk of their titles from. And the MGM option is dwindling given that Kino and Twilight Time offer competition on that front. Furthermore, I'm not sure how keen Scream is on releasing pre-70s titles that don't feature Vincent Price. I get the impression Die Monster Die! and the Neanderthal Man/Beast of Hollow Mountain double feature were a case of Scream testing the waters, and given their subsequent announcements I'm not convinced they persuaded Scream to release other films from the 50s and 60s (I could be wrong on this, but the line has always been focused on the 80s and 90s).

Being a fan of pre 1970s titles I considered myself very lucky and fortunate that Scream did Die Monster Die, Neanderthal Man etc.. Id welcome more in a heartbeat (The Brain that Wouldnt Die) .. Kino is probably going to do more pre 1980 titles than Shout at the rate things are going. It wouldnt surprise me to see Kino release some Price titles as well.. Stay tuned

Of the non-Price MGM titles from the 60s and 70s, I'm hoping Kino (or Twilight Time if need be) release upgrades of Night of the Eagle (Burn Witch Burn), The Premature Burial, The Dunwich Horror, Raw Meat, Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Night Stalker/The Night Strangler, Burnt Offerings (though this looks unlikely atm) and the Count Yorga films. I could perhaps see Scream being more interested in the creature flicks like Frogs, Food of the Gods, Tentacles and Empire of the Ants (decent pair of double features there).

Then of the 80s and 90s titles previously released on DVD by MGM, Scream could put out the likes of The Attic, The Curse films, The Ghoulies films, From a Whisper to a Scream (if it doesn't find it's way on a third VP collection), Poltergeist 2 and 3, Lady in White, I Madman, Edge of Sanity, Clownhouse (surely a no-go though), Vampire's Kiss (a Collector's Edition candidate), Prom Night 2, The Howling 2, The Ambulance, Sometimes They Come Back, and Needful Things (hopefully we'd also get the longer cut). Perhaps they could go back in for Carrie somewhere down the line, and try to get stuff already released on Blu like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the Jeepers Creepers films, Killer Klowns, etc.

And if they're really desperate I suppose there's always the Troll films, plus the likes of The House Where Evil Dwells (truly awful), Night Visitor, After Midnight and probably a few others. I'm aware some may like these films (I think After Midnight is quite good), I'm just saying they're rather low-profile.

Going by collection counts on this site, and assuming that actually means anything in regards to actual total sales, those have been two of their weaker performers, with the double feature sales being truly abysmal.

It has been said that Twilight Time has Count Yorga..
And rumor-wise , possibly fact that Shout Factory is sitting on the Return of Count Yorga. Just a rumor, I know nothing otherwise !

The Offspring is a title that would be most welcome.. I can see Shout(Scream) releasing that one as a solo Price title..

I don't really know how it works, it seems like Red Shirt Pictures makes the majority of these new features and both companies seem to buy from them. I don't know if Red Shirt makes the stuff and then sells them to whoever wants to put them on their disc, or if Scream or Arrow is paying them to make the feature and then Arrow has to pay Scream (or vice versa).

I have the Arrow disc of BTILC and highly recommend it for anyone with a panasonic player.
Shout/Scream have licensed material from Arrow, and the POTP disc is a good example: on that one, Shout licensed the Del Toro/Williams interview from Arrow. They also licensed material from Opening (in France) for that disc. However, it's not correct that all of the original Arrow material for Arrow's POTP ended up on the Shout disc. For example, Arrow's Swan Song Fiasco featurette did not.

I agree and would like to see Grotesque upgraded to HD. Although someone posted a few pages back that they didn't think Scream had the film elements.

Scream is gonna have to aggressively look into expanding their licensing options in 2015. Warner is never gonna happen, but they need to try again to talk some sense into the folks over at Sony and Lionsgate. I would even approach Image with a deal if they are just going to sit on titles like House 1 & 2 and No Retreat No Surrender.

Make no mistake, there is still a lot of good stuff left at MGM, Universal, and FOX as well and not just horror. I'd still like to see more of the Cannon catalog that MGM has the rights to. Maybe Kino will grab some more of their titles after the announcement of my favorite Dudikoff flick Avenging Force.

Sony might be a possibility now given that they seem to be allowing Twilight Time to create new extras.

When the MGM deal was first announced I thought, "wow, they have literally thousands of movies that Shout could release". Not once did I think only of horror movies. There's still a large part of the Cannon library, much of which remains untouched. Then there's a whole bunch of other companies: Nelson Entertainment, Trans World, Orion, Embassy, AIP. The MGM well is far from dry.

I wouldn't mind some public domain titles being released if they need some more titles.

Yeah but we're talking about the Scream Factory line, and that is largely the domain of horror films. Of course MGM have loads of great films, but of late Shout don't seem all that interested in releasing non-horror Blu-rays.

Great, more compression issues on another great film. So glad I pre-ordered it.

Hey, at least we have a fancy new website store-front to look at though.
