Since they're releasing these MGM horror comedies...I hope Teen Witch follows. Not horror in the slightest, but I feel this could be one of the few chances we will get to have that title in HD.

Definitely give From A Whisper to A Scream a try ..its really good, especially if youre into anthologies.
Oh I have seen the entire movie, just not in one go. Anthologies are pretty hit or miss for me. I like Creepshow 2, because two of the stories are actually scary, but don't love Creepshow that much, because it lapses too much into hamfisted, unfunny comedy for my taste. From a Whisper to a Scream has individual elements that I can appreciate, but for some reason, the whole thing never comes together for me. Oh well, I may get desperate enough for a Scream Factory fix to give it a second chance - something which won't happen with Supernova, Ghoulies, or the vampire comedies.

They shot down both that and the Teen Wolf films today.

Howling 2&3
Phantasm
Poltergeist 2&3
The Premature Burial / X: The Man With X-Ray Eyes

None of the announcements so far have tickled me pink, unfortunately. Still glad Shout continues to go after these movies for those who do enjoy them - they do have their fans.

I know the word is they don't have anything more with Universal, but honestly, I still wish they'd given us Psycho IV when they had the chance. I wished they'd given us a double feature of Psycho IV and Bates Motel. I'd still love that. If they could work something up with Universal again, a Psycho box set with all 4 movies would be great, but I don't see that happening.

If they can pry stuff loose from MGM, a double feature of Poltergeist II-III would be welcome.

Sometimes Screams message is inconsistent. If they can't get a movie, that's one thing, but they've made statements in the past about not wanting to release "inferior sequels," and would prefer to focus on other movies that are higher quality instead. Yet, they've released sequels that are inferior to stuff like Psycho IV like Scanners 2-3. And, some of their standalone titles have been pretty mediocre as well. Bottom line: even if Scream considers some sequels to be mediocre, they still move the needle in the horror genre more than some of the titles they are releasing. I love scream, but sometimes they focus more on what they want to release vs. what the fanbase would want to see, and they end up with bad selling titles like Incredible Melting Man and a few others.

They also say they don't want to do tv movies like Psycho IV, but then release other tv movie collections.

There have been quite a few releases over the last 2 years, that I wouldn't buy out of a $7.99 bargain bin, let alone pay $16.99 for...but, there are a few sequels that aren't that great, but the completist in me would pay $16.99 for a double feature even though the film doesn't warrant it. Just food for thought.
I suspect that these statements about there being "better films to go after" sometimes have some context that may not be readily apparent. When they indicated there were better films than Psycho IV to go after, it's not really clear whether that was intended as a broad statement compared to all of the other titles they'd gone after or whether that was specific to that deal with Universal. If I recall correctly, that last Universal deal was limited to six titles: Prince of Darkness, Psycho II, Psycho III, Cat People and Darkman and The Shadow. If, for whatever reason, they were only able to license six films at that time, I can see where Psycho IV might not make that cut.

If they get the original Phantasm, then they're probably getting the rest of the sequels, too.

Just picked up Final Exam and Night of the Demons for the free set of 10 magnets for only $25. Of course I already have both titles... so I'll probably gift them or something.

fair enough on the dynamics of why Psycho IV didn't work then and why they are releasing films that are arguably inferior to it now based on popular opinion.

I can also see why going back to Universal just to see if they could license one sequel like Psycho IV might not be worth the squeeze.

Still, I have to believe there are better options out there than some of the stuff they are releasing. I like horror. I'll admit my tastes are more into the 80's mainstream, but outside of the Halloween boxed set, I haven't ponied up for a Scream Factory release since Assault On Precinct 13. It's just disappointing, to an extent. I guess I got spoiled by releases like Halloween II-III, Psycho II & III, The Fog, They Live, and Assault.

I've wanted to buy more scream titles, but nothing has gotten me interested. Heck, stuff I skipped at first release like Terror Train and Prince of Darkness have me more interested at this point than anything they've released in the last 6 months (outside of the halloween set) and anything that's on their schedule going forward.

Yeh and maybe Company of Wolves possibly and another Universal deal.

Don't forget Sleepaway Camp which is now bought by Universal last year and that sold really well and Deadly Blessing was Universal as well. Do you agree Shout/Scream should do another Universal licensing deal with my ideal titles being Tales from the Hood in a CE with new HD transfer, Serial Mom CE with new 2K scan, Boy who Cried werewolf, the Universal Hammer titles, Serpent and The Rainbow CE, The Car CE, Killdozer, Firestarter CE, Dracula 1979 CE, Cherry Falls CE, Tales from the Crypt Demon Knight/Bordello of Blood CEs, People under the stairs CE, Burbs CE, Mantinee, Child's Play 2 CE, Child's Play 3 CE etc. would be nice? let's write to Shout for another Universal deal as these demand a BD release.

Maybe a Troll/Little Monsters double feature would be nice.

How about Perfect Blue CE (excellent adult animated horror thriller from Japan) and Manhunter CE with new 2K scan on theatrical cut plus DC and extras abound in 2-discs?

If they're doing Ghoulies and Love At First Bite, then we might as well throw in Class Reunion. It's an awful movie though, so I hope they don't bother. I do hope they do Teen Witch though.

Their MOD line has released a few as well, like Spellbinder, The Ambulance, Wicked Stepmother, Buried Alive, The Caller, Windows, etc. Scream / Shout Factory has dipped into this well before, including the upcoming New Year's Evil.

They also used to have quite a few really fun titles on NetFlix that never made it to DVD, like The Immortalizer and Blood Games, both of which I would LOVE to see on blu-ray but probably don't have enough of an audience. They also had The Resurrected, but that was previously released on DVD by LionsGate, so maybe MGM only has broadcast rights?

Blood Games is in my top 5 most wanted blus, i seriously hope this makes ot to blu at some point ( sooner than later)

They also supposedly have Bikini Island, which means they probably have Last Dance as well. This would be a terrific little slasher double-feature blu-ray, but again, barely anyone has seen these, so they probably don't have the appeal unfortunately. Two extremely fun films with no audience.
i would LOVE a blu ray release for Blood Games, its actually in my top 5 most wanted, fantastic nostelgic cheese

Question:

Does anybody know if Anchor Bay or Scream Factory has any intentions on replacing the faulty Halloween 4 disc?

Thanks,

If Scream or Kino, or TT released Gordon Willis' "WINDOWS" with Talia Shire and Elizabeth Ashley....I'd go positively MAD!

The movie is so terrible but you just can't look away. The most bizarre lesbian themed movie ever made....
