I'd much rather see them adopting the same strategy as when they first started Scream Factory, just release a few collectors editions per month with slips, reversible art and lots of extras. Their releases definitely felt alot more special back then before they started flooding the market with any old crap.

I think the uber-specialness of the line ended in December 2013 (with the titles announced in June).

So some people would rather have a 'special' line which only offers Collector's Editions of major titles ahead of a more expansive collection which offers not just those popular films but a wide array of 'lesser-known' horror/comedy horror/sci-fi/thriller/cult films, a good number of which have never even been released on DVD before? The mind boggles. When I look at my SF collection, it's not the CE's that I'm happiest with: it's Terrorvision, The Video Dead, Town That Dreaded Sundown, The Evictors, Without Warning, Deadly Eyes, Death Valley. A few years back I'd have been thrilled to have these on DVD, so to have them on Blu-ray is incredible.

Either Scream does what it's doing now or it dies. The reality of the licencing situation is very clear. Scream has little room to manoeuvre outside of MGM's catalogue right now, and they've already put out the majority of what people would consider their heavy-hitters in CE's.

In general, I prefer standalone releases as well. Strictly from a shelf/alphabetical organization aspect. Not the end of the world for me though. I have a shelf dedicated to double features. Similar to how I keep my criterions, disney, etc. seperate from the rest of my collection.

Problem solved. Enjoy two for one movie deals!

Destroyer? Oy. It's nothing but 90 minutes of feeling terrible that the lovely Deborah Foreman couldn't get better roles. I'll get it because I dig Scarecrows, but...yuck. The well is running dry for Scream.

BarnDoor has a good point. A lot of their non-CE's are just as good (if not better than in some cases) as the CE's.

Bare-bones double features turn me off. But if there's at least something for at least one or better yet both films included, then I remain interested.

I dunno, I don't think most people are especially high on X-Ray, Schizoid, Scanners II or III, The Horror Show, Eve of Destruction, or the Chiller titles.

They may as well pump out everything they can, gives people more choice.

Im guessing in the begining they had a bankroll to get the titles they did to get Scream Factory off and running, after a couple years and taking some chances that didnt pay off like they hoped they need to keep the money flowing in, i also prefer single releases bit it doesnt bother me that theyre releases double features, it would bother me if the pairing didnt flow or match or a big name title that should have been a stand alone. the truth of the matter is there have been 23 (pretty sure thats what were at now) titles announced this month and not everyone is going to buy all those titles, by pairing them theyll get more money back on theyre investment which in turn provides more money for new deals, right now theyve mainly got MGM, why not drain what they can? its not like theyre releases romance films now, at least all the films are horror related. as has been said many times if something is that big of an issue no ones forcing you to buy it, i dont buy everything they release, sometimes you just have to tell the OCD to piss off

edit: just want to say this isnt directed right at you, just my take on the topic as a whole.

People were very high on Schizoid and X-Ray at the time.

Yeah but did they buy them ?
X-Ray, Schizoid, Scanners II or III, The Horror Show - I bought them, so even if sales were bad, Im supported them. I rented them first at least.
If they have Needful Things I doubt it would be a double feature

Since were talking about double features, maybe Bubba Ho Tep can be paired with Im Ho Tep the original Mummy lol

I like the film the Hot Spot, and that has a co-feature that everyone says is poo.. but that doesn't stop me from watching the one I bought it for

I buy the majority of the titles they release. A good chunk of which are blind buys...I enjoy discovering them.

Out of the titles announced this month the only ones I know I'm not going for are the more comedy orientated titles. The cheesy monster flicks and low budget robot stuff I'm all for and I'll never say no to 80s era slashers.

Probably worth remembering some of the double features have good extras too.

I think we all need to stay on point. We NEED Fright Night 2 on Bluray. Make this possible Scream Factory. Give your customers what they want.

They really need to work on getting new deals with other companies or I don't see them lasting another year.

Agreed, we need more than just MGM titles (even though I like them)

I'm not surprised by fringe elements that whine about these kinds of things. I've been on this forum long enough to have endured the non-stop wails of misery regarding slip-covers and art work.

Fortunately, Scream Factory doesn't pay a lot of attention to these bizarre, minority opinions.

For the complainers: Better luck next format. For the rest of us: Lots of horror movies on Blu for NOT lots of money.
Agreed. I'd rather have these films on Blu in double features than not at all.

I see no reason why the two types of releases can't coexist?
I've been on this forum for a long time as well...and I never understand why it always has to be this or that. Why can't can't things, in this case: slipcovered CE's exist with price-friendly double features work in conjunction with one another?
Obviously SF thinks so, and that's the most important vote, IMO.

I haven't seen this flick in over 25 years and had completely forgotten about it until this announcement. That being said, I'm glad to see it coming out with SCARECROWS... any time I get another eccentric performance by the wonderful Anthony Perkins... I eagerly add it to my collection!
